Jaguar will start testing the four-cylinder engines, built in-house, next year. We can expect the 2015 Jaguar cars to be powered by these engines.
Jaguar’s engineering head, Wolfgang Ziebart affirmed that the prototypes of the engines which are being developed by the company will be seen in the cars that will roll off the production line in UK factory by 2014. Initially, the four-cylinder diesel engines will be produced and then followed by the petrol ones. The diesel engines are scheduled to be manufactured by end of 2014 and the petrol ones in 2015.
We can expect the automaker to fit the self-developed diesel engine in the entry-level Jaguar. This car, which is expected to go on sale in Europe in 2015, will compete with the 3 Series from BMW and the A4 from Audi. The company will only power the Jaguar cars with these newly developed engines and exclude Range Rover cars from this list.
