While Lamborghini is bidding goodbye to its money minter for the last 10 years-the Gallardo, it is also readying to welcome into its ranks - the Cabrera. Now a clearer picture of the car, without its all-black plastic camouflage was spotted recently at a gas station in Europe.
The new supercar’s proportions, especially its low height and wide body become instantly clear minus the plastic claddings and one can also make out the wedges in its body. It appears to be longer and lower and lighter than the Gallardo and borrows some traits from the Lamborghini Aventador as well, case in point being the Y-shaped headlight cluster. While the Aventador has only one Y in the headlight, the Cabrera has two but not sharply angled like the former.
Coming to the rear, it is quite different. The Cabrera features a smooth-sided rear as opposed to the sharp louvered-window back of the Aventador. Additionally, the new Lamborghini Cabrera will feature a completely overhauled rear end with all-new slim taillights and a new quad exhaust pipe setup.
Sharing its underpinning with the next iteration of the Audi R8, the Gallardo's replacement will draw its power from the same, albeit an evolved version of the current naturally aspirated 5.2-litre V10 engine developing power close to the 600bhp mark. The power house will be mated to an all-new seven-speed dual-clutch transmission, driving either the rear or all-four wheels.
The Cabrera will be expected to replace quite an iconic car from this Italian company. How it manages to gather new fans will be known as more details of the car emerge through spy pictures or official statements.
