Land Rover has introduced in LA the range-topping Range Rover Autobiography Black long wheelbase, deliveries for which are expected to begin in March 2014. Available only in the off-road manufacturer's new long-wheelbase bodystyle, the Black model has a starting price of $185,000 (Rs 1.66 crore), while a short wheelbase base model starts at $84,195 (Rs 5.30 lakh).
The stretched Range Rover measures 5.2 metres so it's 0.2 metres longer than the standard model and as a result it brings a 140mm increase in rear legroom. In short, it just brings to mind a tall, boxy limousine. Owing to this space extension, it is now possible to recline the rear seats up to 17 degrees which is eight degrees more than on the standard wheelbase variant. One can also enjoy the perks from a panoramic sunroof and powered side door blinds.
What’s waiting within the cabin is four seats with their own memory, climate and massage controls, as well as an 18-way adjustability for the front pair of seats. The passenger-side backseat also can be used as an deployable ottoman. The LED mood lamps comes standard, and help show highlight the exquisite wood and leather work of the SUV's cabin.
There is also an executive class package available with this, which offers two individual fully adjustable seats and a re-designed extended centre console with electrically deployable leather tables, integrated USB charging sockets, enhanced stowage and bespoke lighting.
We could expect an India launch of the LWB in the first quarter of 2014, along with it entering other markets as well.
