If you thought the Lykan Hypersport was an extreme piece of machinery, you might want to rethink that when you see the Lykan Supersport in the making. W Motors has now released the first images and details for its second model, the Lykan Supersport. Previously thought to be the lesser of the two cars, the Lykan Supersport will, in fact, be the more extreme, boasting an output of more than 1,000 horsepower and a curb weight of less than 2,650 pounds and costing a cool USD 1.6 million.
The recently concluded Dubai Motor Show 2013 was where W Motors’ Lykan Hypersport made a public debut with its production version. Only seven units of the car are to be produced. With the Supersport, Lykan continues to maintain its exclusivity and only 25 cars will be seen entering production.
W Motors is a start-up based in Dubai that promises to deliver to the world the first Arabian supercar and the Lykan Supersport is its second offering apart from the Lykan Hypercar. The company is also looking for a production site, preferably in the Middle East to be closer to its customer base there.
Like the Hypersport, it has an aggressive look with LEDs, big air intakes, ventilated hood and a massive rear diffuser. The main change the new car has over the Hypersport is that the Supersport will be cheaper because it is purely focused on performance. It will also not use any of the exorbitant interior features of the former.
The car will come fitted with 3.7-litre flat-six turbocharged engine developed by RUF (Porsche tuner). If the HyperSport can hit the 100 kmph mark in just 2.8 seconds, we can expect the SuperSport to get very close to the 2.5 second mark.
W Motors is still working on the design, so the specifications could certainly change before the planned 2015 launch.
