It has been a time of revelations for Mercedes-Benz, while on one hand they released the final edition of the SLS AMG GT, on the other they have now officially released the Mercedes-Benz AMG Vision Gran Turismo. This supercar won't be seen on public roads but the automaker has built a 1:1 scale model for the opening of their Research & Development Center in Sunnyvale, California.
Gran Turismo 6 will be out on December 6 exclusively on the PlayStation 3 so probably that is why we are getting to see more and more cars from the "Vision Gran Turismo" program. Earlier in August, BMW unveiled its concept car for the "Vision Gran Turismo". As virtual vehicles that nonetheless function just like a real car, the visionary concepts will be gradually unveiled in and integrated into the new game Gran Turismo 6 through online updates.
The front-engined vehicle will come with a rear-wheel-drive arrangement and gullwing doors. Another eye-catching feature is the radiator grille – a reinterpretation of the wide Mercedes-Benz sports car grille with central star. Its shape is reminiscent of the legendary 300SL racing car of 1952. However, instead of classic louvres the grille of the show car features exclusively LEDs. The variable LED grille with different light patterns is a further development of the diamond grille introduced with the new CLA-Class.
For the interiors, Mercedes-Benz seems to have been inspired by the Formula 1 cockpit as the red integral sports seats blend into the black flooring of the footwell to form a protective shell. Power comes from an AMG V8 engine delivering 577bhp and 799Nm of torque. Stopping power comes from AMG's high-performance composite brakes while at the back there are no less than eight tailpipes and an exhaust note that proclaims very well the V8's love of high engine speeds."
The car will be part of the program created for Gran Turismo 6 which will include various vehicles from the following companies: Alfa Romeo, Alpine, Aston Martin, Audi, Bertone, GM, Honda, Infiniti, Italdesign Giugiaro, JORDAN Brand, Mercedes-Benz, Nike, Nissan, Peugeot, SRT, Volkswagen and Zagato.
