Toyota Etios Cross revealed in Brazil; to go on sale from November 18

The Toyota Etios Cross which was spied testing in Brazil a few months ago has now officially been revealed. Much like its German and Czech counterparts the Cross Polo and the Fabia Scout, it is a pumped up version of the Etios Liva and has been fitted with body cladding and taller wheels to give it a more muscled appearance.

The Etios Cross gets a body kit, taller wheels, a revised front and rear end with plastic embellishments to give it the Pseudo off roader look. Toyota has also revised the design of the alloy wheels to help differentiate it from the standard car. Other changes from the standard car include Etios Cross letter on the side and roof racks that can hold load up to 50 kgs. The interiors and the feature list remain the same as the standard car with the exception of some new seat fabrics and trim accents.

The Brazilian spec Etios Cross is powered by the same 1.5-litre petrol/dual fuel engine that sits in the India spec TRD Sportivo variant but has been tuned to produce 96bhp and 139Nm of torque in the former and 92bhp+139Nm in the latter. Power is transmitted to the front wheels via a five-speed manual gearbox.

The C-segment Etios Cross has been priced at 45,960 Real Brazillian which will roughly come up to Rs 12.59 lakh and will go on sale from November 18. We ideally should get this model in India sometime next year as the Polo Cross has been quite a success here and then more importantly this is an untapped segment in the Indian market which has the potential to grow quite big, really fast.
