Making its global debut in production form at the Los Angeles Auto Show, on November 19, will be the Jaguar F-Type coupe with few deviations from the C-X16 Concept, previously revealed at the 2011 Frankfurt Auto Show. The automakers claim it to be the most dynamically capable, performance-focused, production Jaguar ever.
Details about the all-aluminium F-Type Coupe range has been hard to find as only picture of the car has been revealed and nothing about the technicalities involved can be garnered.
What could be deduced from the image is that the F-Type Coupe will essentially be the same as the existing roadster, only with a fixed roof - with a large glass panel, probably to make the car feel less claustrophobic. There are chances of the car coming with a hatchback and the same engines and features found in the convertible version of the F-Type are likely to be found in the F-Type Coupe. The F-Type Convertible range was unveiled at the Paris auto show in September 2012 and consists of three models, the V6-powered F-Type (335bhp) and F-Type S (374bhp), and the 488bhp F-Type V8 S.
Ian Callum, Director of Design, Jaguar, expressing his confidence in the product said: “The excitement generated when we revealed the C-X16 concept was terrific; so to now be on the cusp of what I can assure you will be a drama-filled reveal event in Los Angeles for F-Type Coupé is a very significant moment.
“We’ve been overwhelmed by the positive reaction to F-TYPE Convertible, but for me the purity of creating a sports Coupé is a uniquely satisfying process – and I know that both visually and dynamically, F-Type Coupé raises the bar yet again.”
The car will go on sale in the US in spring 2014 and we expect further insight into the car closer to the launch.
