Nissan has launched a facelifted version of the Evalia MPV and a new top-spec XV S variant for Rs 10.55 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi) and is priced Rs 30, 000 more than the XV variant. The facelifted version is visible on the Japanese automaker’s official India website but there is no information on what the new interior features or options will be at the time of publishing this story. However, there are some visible external changes to the MPV.
The facelifted Evalia gets a rear wiper and more importantly an openable windows in the second row. These continue to be the butterfly design but are now slots that open up and slide forwards as compared to the Ashok Leyland Stile’s rear sliding units. The Evalia also gets a new design for the alloy wheels which will now be available in 15-inch size as standard.
Inside, we expect that Nissan has fitted aircon vents for the second row and a full fledged glovebox in the front. Some reports suggest that Nissan will also be offering captain seats for the second, but that is something we can only confirm when the interior specs are revealed. The engine and underpinnings are the same as the current a car; a 1.5-litre dCi diesel mill that produces 85bhp and 200Nm of torque. Power is transmitted to the front wheels via a five-speed manual gearbox.
The Evalia despite having oodles of space and a decent feature list has not been a great seller for the Japanese automaker. It is likely that Nissan banking on this model to make its presence felt in the competitive MPV segment. The Nissan Evalia competes with the Chevrolet Tavera, Toyota Innova and the Tata Aria.
