The India bound Honda Mobilio MPV has been unveiled for the Indonesian market. It is the third car to be based on the Brio platform and was unveiled via official sketches on the 19th of July. The feature list and variant line up were revealed via a leak on the sixth of this month.
The Honda Mobilio MPV (codenamed 2NH) is 4.4-meters long (wheelbase of 2.6-meters) and has a ground clearance of 185mm. It looks like a stretched out version of the Brio but much like Amaze, it looks like it has been designed from the ground up to be an MPV. The Mobilio gets a low roofline and a floating D-Pillar
It is powered by the same four-cylinder 1.5-litre petrol unit that powers the Honda City sedan. This engine produces 117PS and 146Nm of torque. Power is transmitted to the front wheels via a five-speed manual or a CVT gearbox as had been revealed earlier. When the Mobilio is launched in India, it will also get the 1.5-litre diesel engine from the Amaze sedan. It produces 101PS and 200Nm of torque. Power is transmitted to front wheels for this engine via a five-speed manual.
Honda has said that they will begin production of the Mobilio at their upcoming plant in Karawang which will go online early next year. The MPV will be the first vehicle to roll out of the plant. We expect that Honda will bring the Mobilio to the 2014 Auto Expo and launch it about four to five months after its Indonesian launch.
When launched, the Honda Mobilio will compete the Chevrolet Enjoy and the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga, Datsun Go+ as well as the Mahindra Quanto.
