2013 Frankfurt Motor Show: Skoda Octavia RS displayed

Skoda had their hands full at this year’s Frankfurt Motor Show, with a long line-up from their arsenal, the most impressive of which was the RS variant of the 2013 Octavia. The Octavia was unveiled in India last month with a launch expected early October, and like most other RS variants from before, the Octavia RS is expected to follow the standard variant soon.

The RS version for Europe will be powered by two engine options; petrol and a diesel.  The petrol motor is a 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine producing 220PS power hitting 100kph in 6.8sec. The diesel engine is also a turbocharged 2.0-litre unit that develops 184PS power and 380Nm torque aiding to clock the 100kph drag time in 8.1sec. Both of these engines are sourced from VW, who use it to power the performance variants of the Jetta and the Golf.

The interiors modifications on the RS include race derived bucket seats and leather inserts with contrast stitching, both of which are unlikely to make its way to the Indian soil to keep the cost in check. In all likelihood we will get the petrol variant like previous RS variants though we are all in for the diesel variant as well, considering its substantial torque figures.
