Pictures of the Honda Brio MPV likely to be called the Mobilio, and its feature list have been revealed ahead of its official debut at the 2013 Indonesia International Motor Show scheduled to being on September 19. This is the third model to be based on the Brio platform after the Brio hatchback, Amaze sedan and has been targeted at markets like Indonesia, Malaysia and India.
The pictures show that the Indonesia spec Mobilio (if it is called that) will be available in three trim levels; S (MT), E (MT) and E (CVT) which is basically an automatic variant. Since Indonesians are crazy about MPVs, Prospect Honda has left no stone unturned in terms of features and has loaded up the MPV.
The S (MT) which is the most basic variant gets beige interiors, music system with USB connectivity, tilt adjust steering, second and third row seats that tumble and recline all power windows, dual SRS airbags and pre tensioned seat belts. Most of these features are available on the Honda Brio and the Amaze already. External features include colour OVRMs, 15 inch steel wheels, high mounted stop lamp and rear wipers.
The E (MT) gets all the features of the S (MT) variant in addition to dual interior lamps, seat back pockets, sliding seat in the second row, keyless entry, central locking, dual tone horn, AC vents for the second row and silver accents for the steering and gear knob. Additional outside features on this variant include colour door handles 15-inch alloy wheels, parking sensors and indicators on the door mirrors.
The E (CVT) variant in addition to the features of the manual variant gets chrome vents and ABS. Outside; the fog lamps have been given chrome surrounds, bumper garish and a CVT badge to distinguish it from the manual variant. We India are also likely to get the VX variant but what additional features it will have is something we will only get to know in the future.
In terms of engines, the Mobilio is likely to get the 1.5-litre petrol engine from the City sedan. It churns out 117PS and 146Nm of torque. When this MPV is brought to India, Honda will also offer the 1.5-litre i-DTEC diesel mill from the Amaze that produces 100PS and 200Nm of torque.
However, what we are disappointed is that while the concept sketches looked quite futuristic, the production version (if this is the final one) looks interesting but rather plain. When launched, the Mobilio will compete with the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga, Chevrolet Enjoy, and Mahindra Quanto. However, it is expected to up the game thanks to the automatic gearbox.
