Honda has always been known as a manufacturer with conservative but interesting design philosophy. Now most of you will say that there are exceptions like the NSX, S2000 and of course a design that is closer home to us; the first generation City VTEC but even these are powerful cars with understated looks. In a bid to want to shed the conservative image, Honda has introduced a new design language called ‘Exciting H Design!!!’ (yes, it’s that exciting that there are three exclamations at the end) and the first car to embody this philosophy is the new Honda Jazz/ Fit that was unveiled for the Japanese market yesterday.
The three exclamation marks, while seeming strange for all odd reasons, actually stand for High Tech, High Tension and the High Touch. According to the company, High tech stands for an innovative spirit and High Tension for beautiful body structure and layout, while High Touch represents finely-honed surfacing and texture.
Honda said that each of these three philosophies will apply to both the interior and exterior design and if the new Jazz/ Fit is anything to go by then Honda’s future models will be quite exciting to look at as much as they are to drive. This also means that the Brio MPV which is slotted to be the next major launch for India after the Jazz will be quite exciting to look at and drive.
