The 2013 Skoda Octavia is just two days away from being unveiled for the Indian market and is one of the most highly awaited D-Segment cars to enter the sub-continent. However, this is the Octavia’s second innings in India as it was previously sold here when the Czech automaker made its debut here in 2001.
However, as we all know that eventually the Octavia was discontinued in favour of 'the Laura (but known globally as the Octavia). It has had a long but not very fruitful run. Now there seems to be evidence to support our headline that the Laura is on its way out as its official brochure is no longer available despite still being officially listed on their website.
During our quest to bring you more on the Octavia ahead of its Indian unveiling, we also discovered Skoda, on its global Facebook page, has posted some pictures of various accessories that can be had with the European spec 2013 Octavia.
These include a coat hanger that can be hinged under the headrests of the front seats, a plastic loading lip, tray and restraint net for the interiors of the boot, chrome strip for the boot lid, tow hook Octavia branded door sill plates, custom mud flaps and finally shift lock mechanism. It is almost certain that all these features will be offered at the dealer level with the Indian spec Octavia when the car is officially launched.
The 2013 Skoda Octavia made its debut in December last year and is currently on sale across various European markets. It is based on Skoda’s Vision D concept and is underpinned by parent company Volkswagen’s MQB platform. This is the same platform that underpins the Audi A3, Seat Leon and Mk7 Volkswagen Golf.
We are excited about the new car for various reasons and one of them includes the Octavia vRS performance sedan which is expected to be launched for the Indian market in the early part of next year. Stay tuned to CarWale on the 9th of August as we will bring you all the details from the unveiling of the 2013 Skoda Octavia.
