Maruti Suzuki Swift may get minor facelift

The Maruti Suzuki Swift is all set to get a minor facelift during the upcoming 2013 Frankfurt Motor Show. Suzuki has unintentionally updated its Belgium website with this new model and the facelift includes evident cosmetic changes while staying true to the design philosophy.

The most visible additions to the existing model are the L-shaped day time LED lights adjacent to the fog lamps and turn indicator mounted to ORVMs. Apart from these changes, the overall appearance of the car remains unchanged. The changes to the interior too seem to be minimal with the model now getting a start/stop push button, rear foldable seats and six airbags. The rest of the interiors including the dashboard layout, backlight theme of the instrument panel and the central console all stay untouched.There will also be a new golden brown colour on offer along with the current lineup.

The oily-bits will not be fiddled with. The global models will be powered by the same 1.2L K-Series motor that produces 94bhp and the 1.3L DDIS oil burner putting out 74bhp. Here in India, the petrol variant will be powered by the same engine that develops 86bhp and the same diesel motor that’s available in the EU market while being mated to the 5-speed manual transmission.

Although the start/stop button, six airbags and daytime running lamps will be really nice additions to the features list, we doubt Maruti will offer them as a part of standard package in India due to pricing issues. However, we hope Maruti will offer these features on the options list in the coming months.
