BMW has previewed the X4 crossover concept just ahead of its debut at the 2013 Shanghai Auto Show. The X4 has been modelled along the lines of the much bigger X6 SUV, but will share many of its components, engines as well as underpinnings with the X3 crossover.
The X4 concept is 4.6 meters, 1.9 meters wide, 1.6 meters high and has a wheelbase pretty similar to that of the X3 – 2.8 meters. The front of the car gets the prominent kidney shaped grille, full LED headlights, matte black air intakes as well as a sculpted hood. On the sides, the X4 concept gets more flowing lines and has adapted a more car like stance that its bigger sibling. The rear-end gets dual exhausts, LED tail lights and a bumper that has the diffuser integrated into it.
It is believed that the production model will not stray much from the concept vehicle. The German automaker has said that it will build the production version of the X4 at its plant in Spartanburg South Carolina and it will go on sale from 2014.
