Nissan’s low cost brand Datsun’ first car, due in India by next year, will be based on the previous generation Nissan Micra K12 platform. This car will sit below the present generation Micra but will get an all new design. The brand was revived in March last year by the Renault-Nissan alliance and has been aimed specifically at low-cost emerging markets like Indonesia, India and Russia.
The company confirmed that it will not be a complete stripped down version of Nissan Micra but will be smaller yet will have roomier interiors. The upcoming Datsun small car will be unveiled this year and we are expecting the launch to happen at 2014 Delhi Auto Expo.
The company is also going to make sure that the Datsun brand comes with its own unique value proposition which is modernity with high quality and longevity. We are expecting this car to be priced in the region of Rs three to Rs 4.5 lakh.
