1.0 Exterior | 2.0 Comfort | 3.0 Performance |
2.0 Fuel Economy | 2.0 Value for Money |
Exterior
Outdated model (II Generation 1992 to 1999 model). Discontinued in rest of the world. Sold in India for over Rs.21 Lakhs. Tyre - 15 inch, Latest generation (Montero) comes with 17 inch tyre. Tail lamp does not function, kept only for jewel effect, Front Grill : Old type with Mitsubishi Red Badge.
Interior (Features, Space & Comfort)
Everything is outdated, switches and knobs, Awkward Steering wheel without Mitsubishi badge at the center, Dashboard is boring. Comfort is okay but not as comfy as Tata Safari.
Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox
One valid reason not to buy this car : It has outdated engine. Modern engines are CRDI engine. It still uses outdated Fuel Injection pump diesel engine which emits more carbon Dioxide. This will be phased out soon if emission norms became stricter in India. High Fuel consumption - avg. only 8 KMPL - not good for the Planet.
Ride Quality & Handling
In spite of the above drawbacks I really appreciate it's ride, handling & off road performance. Max. Top speed only 150 KMPH.
Final Words
Please don't buy this model. I think you will not waste your money in buying this decade old old school model ( Daddy's SUV). Go for the latest Toyota Fortuner or Tata Safari 4X4 VX or wait for yet to be launched Tata Aria and New facelifted Tata Safari.
Areas of improvement
My sincere request to HM-Mitsubishi. Please change this model. Don't fool Indian customers.
