Maruti Estilo

It seems like Maruti has finally discontinued the Estilo from the market. Although there is no official word yet from the manufacturer in this regard, the Estilo has been taken off the company’s official website. The Estilo is essentially a re-christened version of the Suzuki MR Wagon and was introduced in 2006. The introductory model had the four-cylinder, 1.1-litre engine from the Wagon R mated to a five-speed manual gearbox.

Maruti Suzuki is likely to axe production of the Estilo hatchback due to lack of demand and consequently low sales numbers. The car was introduced to the Indian market in 2007 as a replacement for the legendary Zen hatchback and is slightly toned down version of now discontinued JDM spec Suzuki MR Wagon.

Maruti Suzuki may launch two new cars for the Indian market within the next one year. These cars will replace their current slowest sellers which are believed to be the Estilo, A-Star and the SX4. While the former duo will replaced by one car (codenamed YL7), the latter will be replaced by the new SX4 that was unveiled at the 2013 Geneva Motor Show in March.

Maruti Suzuki India has launched a limited edition of the Estilo, called the Estilo Nlive. Like most limited edition Marutis, this one also gets few extra features and graphics to push sales of the slow moving hatchback.

Maruti Suzuki dealers are offering discount on the Estilo, and one can be yours for about Rs 2.75lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). With the new Eon coming in during this festive season, Hyundai has struck all the right chords.
