I have driven about 2800 KM and from rough initial estimates, I seem to be getting highway average of 22 KMPL, including two ghats to Panchgani! Almost as good as my old Zen.

      Some observations:

      1. Power steering is truly comfort giving, sitting high gives a good feel. It feels roomier, with high roof and good legroom.
      2. Mechanical central locking / unlocking is better; no problems of electronic version.
      3. Rear seats are harder and ride is not comfortable.
      4. Excellent suspension but a wobbly feel. Increases the feel of higher centre of gravity and hence less stability. This is even more pronounced when car is not loaded.
      5. Running noise, clearly audible when coasting in neutral. This noise was noticed by those sitting at the rear. I cannot say whether this noise is from the tyres or from the bearings of the wheels or axles.
      6. I have by now adjusted to gear shift, which was a major deterrent in buying Wagon R.
      7. The driving view is marvelous from the large clear glass windscreen.
      8. Driving posture and related comfort is better than Zen. Long drives are less tiring.
      9. Pick up is excellent, even in overdrive gears (fifth too). It does not protest at 40 KMPH in fifth gear, if care is taken not to accelerate hard. However, changing to fifth gear at 50 KMPH makes the car produce a healthy whine, especially when loaded.
      10. Starting of the engine is not pleasant. It takes more cranking to start (rarely it starts with one short crank). MPFI auto control revs the engine too much for at least seven to ten seconds. Zen starting was superb; just a touch to the key turning was enough.
      11. Visibility of space just behind Wagon R is very poor and a mirror at the back, like in huge SUVs, may prove helpful. I once reversed into a 2 wheeler parked right behind.
      12. When playing music, especially FM, I find high bass reverberation, forcing me to keep the bass setting at 2 or even less, even at low volume setting of 16. My JVC system RMS power is 200 W, with two 4 inch front speakers and two six inch rear speakers.  Music sounds good due to larger resonating volume and front tweeters near windshield.
Fuel economy, driving comfort, visibility of others, high headroom, good legroom. enough powerRolling noise when coasting in neutral, noisy engine at high RPM, no day & night mirror

I have purchased Wagonar in March-2007. I selected this car because of its outlook.and features which are in luxury car. It is best car among small cars. It has exciting speed and pick up. On highway it is a comfortable drive and it really moves shaftly. I am satisfied with my car. After I purchased this car many of my professionals have opted the same.

I recently bought a Maruti Wagon R LXI CNG, to my horror the car turned out with faulty brakes. (The car doesn’t stop immediately on pressing the brakes & the brakes go right inside touching the floor of the car, which is very unusual in new cars) & the car doesn’t even stop immediately on applying the brakes every since am compelled to visit the service center every second day in order to get this problem rectified. Also my brand new car was in the service center for more than a week.

I don’t really blame the service center for this as they are trying their level best to help me & get this issue sorted; but I am extremely disappointed with Maruti’s irresponsible behavior as I purchased the car purely trusting the brand, but am left only with disappointment & discontent.

Delivering a car with faulty brakes not only speaks for the quality of cars made & delivered but also a very unpleasant customer experience. Aren’t the cars being QC before delivering them to customers? By this act Maruti is not only displaying unfriendly customer behavior but also an irresponsible act by risking pedestrian’s life with a car with faulty brakes, which cannot be ignored

NAReceived a defective car - with faulty brakes

Recently while wating at trafic signals, in my M-800 car,   I  noticed  new black Wagon-R and another beige Wagon-R ahead of me. What surprised me about these Wagon-R cars is their sheer ugliness. Wagon-R design is utilitarian ugliness taken to its extremes. Is it its tall  looks or square windows or its off centred number plate or luggage holders on the roof, difficult to tell what makes it so ugly. Black wagon-R has the sinister looks of a mortuary van, while the beige simply hurts to look at.
I am looking for a suitable replacement for my good old M-800 and decided against Wagon-R. I woludn't like to be seen dead inside a Wagon-R, leave alone driving it. I may be wrong,  may be I just have Wagon-R phobia, I am not sure. Any one with similar views on Wagon-R ?Suzuki brand name, utilitarian valueAppearance and ugly look

I was looking for a small car under 5 lacs. Final shortlist had Wagon R and Santro. After taking test drives of both, main reason for rejecting Santro was that, my right hand was hitting the window every time I wanted to take left turn. Also, LPG option in Wagon R is more appealing.

Below are some of my observations:
      1. Gear shift from 1st to 2nd can be hard
      2. Also sometimes you have to try 2 times to engage reverse gear.
      3. In LPG mode, in 2nd gear car really slows down on an incline.
      4. Air-conditioner is awesome. Cools in just few seconds even when outside temp. is very high.
      5. Suspension is good, could have been better
6  AC button light was not lit when AC was on. This has been fixed by dealer

My experience with wagon r has been excellent. I have been driving automatic cars for last 6 years. This is my first manual shift car and hence mileage could be lower than expected due to my driving. Hope it will get better after service and once I am expert at driving.

I bought this car last year, after almost 8 months of research. In my budget of less than 4 lakhs, I got a fully loaded car with superb boot space and additional perks like electronic rearview mirrors, rear seat light, pockets on all doors, etc Features you wont find in mid-size cars also.

Great experience for driver and co passenger. But the rear seat suffers due to its stiffness... not too comfortable for long drives. Also the model I got had the old rubbery gear shift, whih has been replaed in newer models.

The car has a certain persona of being "smart" and the "tall" driving experience make you (kind of) feel like you are driving a SUV. 😊

Tallboy ddesign, presence, good fuel economy, amazing bootspace, practical bits added to VXi modelRear seat is limited and too straight like an auto!, hard gear shift

Its got good interiors, handles well, can seat 4 comfortably (5 is a lie) and has good economy. The suspension smothers bumps reasonably well for a small car ( no where near the palio). Its easy to maintain, offers good economy and good resale. The gearshift is vague and imprecise. But u'll manage if you are a sedate driver. The engine has a good torque spread so pulling off in lower gear is not a problem even with the a/c on. The EPS takes away from the steering feel, but then this is not a sports car and so is fine. It is this feature that is a boon in traffic. The A/C is great in summer. But the blower does announce its hard work at higher speeds. Best maintained at 2 mark for a quiet cabin.

I bought the car in 2006 May. Earlier I was using OMNI. The power and A?C provision made me go for Wagon R. I had two options. To go for Duo or to go for a petrol version. My daily travel is moderate. I had fuel consumption calculations based on my daily travel and the company specified fuel consumption. Over three years what I can save through fuel I compared with 1) the extra money I had to pay for Duo 2) The waer and tear of the engine and corresponding resale price loss after three years. At my use I therefore selected Petrol version. I am 64 years old. I do not have a driver. I drive the vehicle my self. Till today my running is +10000 km. The longest drive I had in this car was +3000 km Pune to Tirupati and back. At no time the driving became a tidious job for me.

Aboiut the night driving  I never developed fatigue. The braking system is highly reliable. The fellow riders never complained of geting exhausted. I have driven the vehicle in rainy season that to during night from Pune to Nasik. An enjoyable experience. My wife loves traveling in this car. Even my grandson prefers traveling in Wagon R comared to traveling in Honda City which is owned by my elder son. It is a nice experience to posses Wagon R.

Good fuel economyless rear boot space
