just completed 30K kms on my Maruti Suzuki SX4 VXi ( purchased August ’07). It has been an exhilarating experience for most of the time with niggling problems and rattles rearing its head every once in a while.
The good news first - Until recently, I was driving on the jam packed, stop-go-stop roads of Delhi. Despite its size, the SX4 is nimble enough to negotiate bad traffic and bad roads. Compared to a Ford Fiesta or Honda City ( which i also travel in often), the pothole bumps hardly register inside. Also, the the cabin space and high seating pain doesn’t give me a pain in the knees , operating the clutch and gas pedals. Which I get in both the other cars mentioned. Mileage is 10km/ lit constantly.
I am hoping to drive this car for the next 4 years, and planning to cover around 1,50,000 by then and believe me, this is the only car in this segment that looks like going that distance without falling apart.
Maybe even a higher class.. My friend sold off his Scorpio in 2 years ’cos it was coming apart. The Optra doesn’t look and feel sturdy enough.. The Civic scrapes at every bump.. So well, overall for our driving conditions, the SX4 tops!!
