      Hi,

After waiting for 8 weeks and endless calls to the dealer i got my SX4 ZXi on 19 Sep 07 and was on the road ...................1st thing first i drove down from Delhi to Dehradun maintaing a steady speed between 60-70 kms and i got the average of 13.2 kpl.  This puts to rest the worry about the milage of the car.

It was after a lot of delebration and repeated test drives of Honda City, Verna, Aveo and Sx4 i have decided to buy Sx4 because

      (a)    Sporty look, well defined body lines
      (b)    Safety features .ABS, EBD, air bags, tubeless tyres,
      (c)  Upmarket feartures like audio control on the stearing wheel.
      (d)   Alloy wheels
      (e)   Climate control ...............Aircon very effective

the list is end less ....if we start comparing SX4 with other cars available in the same segment.

The ride quality is very smooth and the car moves to the touch of ur fingers.  Dehradun is not a city of wide roads ........most of the roads are narrow where only two cars can pass each other with lot of slow speed manouvering and the cars moves so smoothly and navigates narrow streets and bylanes its a delight to drive it....................... The rear view visibility is more or less the same in all the c segment cars just  drive for a few days and u will get used to it.....one has a option of installing sensors which are available for 4000 to 5000 rs.

The rear armrest was a bit too big for the seat which has been taken care of by installing good quality tight fit seat covers. .......................
The only point Maruti missed out was ....................they should have provided a little better interiors .especially the seat adjustment lever, joystick for rear view mirror (the plastic finish could have been improved)

Its is good value for money and is going to be the king of Indian roads........................MEN are BACK.

      Enjoy your drive

      regards
      sunil

Sx4 is originally FIAT Sedici. Nice to see more powerful, more aggressive SX4. But Maruti still not rectified error. No reverse gear lamp on right side?

It looks huge, much bigger than cars with 2 times price like Civic, Altis etc.

Linea has emerged as big challenger to SX4.

SX4 should not have same 1.3 FIAT MJD, esle like Linea, SX4 will also be called "Under powered" car. although 1.3 MJD is very good machine but lighter Swift, Punto, Ritz, Vista , Palio etc. perform much better than heavy SX4 or Linea.

And there is excellent VFM now MANZA.

Like Linea, SX4 also demands bigger Diesel motor, may be 1.5/1.6 120-130 Bhp motor.

Maruti Network. Looks Huuge at Low PriceTuff to Drive in city. No Reverse Gear Lamp on Right

My search for a joyful self driving car which gives driving pleasure, power and comforts ended today with the test drive for SX4 provided by Ambal Autos, Trichy Road Coimbatore. The sales persons were more than cordial and showed both Swift and SX4. Swift is not bad but pales into insignificance when compared to SX4.  When you take up the steering wheel of SX4, you can feel the comfort of a powerful car. I have test driven Ford Fiesta, Honda City, Aveo, Verna, All New Jazz, Swift, Dzire, Logan, Indigo, Accent  and came to near frustration of ending up with no car fulfilling my expectation of self driving pleasure and comfort. But thank God, you got an Indian car which gives you perfect driving comfort, power and pleasure that is SX4. I LOVE SX4. Other things like not so great interiors, back reverse light etc can be just ignored if you opt for a car which gives you a great driving pleasure with absolute comfort.

Great pickup, absolute driving comfort, perfect control, blissful self drivingnot matching interiors

The driving experience is great because at that time the diesel engine was a great, truly underrated car. It will return around 10-15 in the city. The service cost was a reasonable price. Overall great

I bought  SX4 ZXi, after doing an analysis over 2 months on all the cars of this segment...and i m very satisfied with my decision. I took SX4 to Uttaranchal for an acid test....I got an average of 13.5 km/L with AC on!!!...the car was very well manageable on the steep curves of uttaranchal, till rudraprayag. On comparison of SX4 with City and Verna...it's the V-tech version of City which has the features which SX4 is offering...for which one needs to shell out additional 1.5L. City mileage of honda-city is definitely more than SX4 but then the ground clearance matters a lot during rainy season and indian roads???? Now its an indiviual's perspective for making a choice. Well I did not find it wise to shell out extra ...when I was getting a good deal in 7.75L..with a new looking car...which has a wide servicing network!! Now Verna....its the diesel model which is very successful for this car...the petrol version again is costing more for same feature, with nearly same mileage...more over I did not find verna appealing..especially the rear view!! The reverse parking of SX4 needs expertise in driving...but with parking sensors worth Rs. 2500/..I have managed that too...and Lately  have seen so many SX4 on CNG that ..I would definitely opt for this sooner...so that the only negativity of the car, for middle class people like me (CITY MILEAGE 10 Km/L) can be brought under control. I drove the car at 120 km/L...and it ws very smooth...I did not have courage to drive it over this speed..so am not the right person to comment on high speed!!Good style, great presence on the road, sturdy car, boot space, fantastic ground clearance, great pirear seat, mileage

After over 5 months of intense comparison, test drives, searching queries etc.I finally bought a SX4 about a week back. After driving it for a week now I have to congratulate Maruti Suzuki for giving us a superlative product at the right price and thereby showing the other car manufacturers that a great car need not cost the earth.

While researching various options avilable, prior to my purchase, review, road tests and "which is better SX4 or Honda City comparisons" the only plus point ascribed to Honda City was its so called "refinement" and "great interior fit and finish" and these plus points made me wait for over 3 months to decide which car to purchase.

And then I test drove both the cars under similar consitions on the highway. I test drove a one year old, a six month old, and a brand new demo SX4. The Honda city that i test drove was a demo car about 2 months old.

The SX4 beat the Honda in almost every department. To list a few pros:

      1. I felt like the king of the road, pot holes were decimated, speed breakers meant nothing to the SX4. The power of the engine made overtaking the 16 wheelers on the highway childs play and the ABS/EBD saved a two wheeler that was bombing towards me on the same lane (it happens on indian highways) from being squashed.
      2. The aircon was fab at 43 degrees celcius of Uttar Pradesh.
      3. There were no rattles even in the one year old car. The throttel response was just great in all the cars.
      4. Steering was steady at high speeds (I drove upto 110kmph).

I could go on and on but suffice it to say its a GREAT car and Maruti deserves to be congratulated.

And who cares about milage when driving it makes the man behind the wheel feel "you have the power"

Head turning style, a steal for its pricefuel economy but who cares the exquisite car dosent make you think of that when u are at the drivers

I am driving SX4 ZXI for last 6 months. After going through numerous car reviews and test drives, I selected SX4 ZXI after much deliberation. I had a choice between Honda City, Ford Fiesta, Hyundai Verna, Chevrolet Aveo and Optra, Tata Indigo and Mahindra Renault Logan. SX4 ZXI definitely makes a statement on the roads.

Its greatest plus points are: Great ground clearance, Strong body with great ground hugging qualities, Lots of features within that low budget, Powerful even in hilly terrain, Great brake systems.

The lows are: Poor quality seat covers, Cheap plastics, Poor quality music system, Gears take time to adjust.

Comparison: Logan: Its good value for money, but finishing is bad. Verna: Head touching roof for tall drivers, loss of allignment very frequent, poor looks especially the front lights. Indigo: Crammed up space, poor power and pickup. Honda City: Not worth value for money, Poor ground clearance, Power inefficient in hilly areas. Fiesta: High running costs, Cheap plastics. Poor ground clearance. Aveo: Most comparable and almost qulifying with SX4.

I changed the seat covers to a good quality one and the interiors immediately got a posh look. Speakers can be change and it can improve on the sound quality. It took time for me to adjust the brakes, Brakes need to be brought to neutral and then it automatically aligns nd the change can be done after a nanosecond and not immediately, let the gear play itself. Fuel efficiency is much talked about for this car, but when you buy on that range it really doesn't matter as all such powerful cars can't give more than 15km/lit on highways, and if you are getting less than that, its poor driving quality. On Shillong-Guwahati highway which is hilly, I drive mostly on 5th and occasionally 4th gear and I get around 15kmpl!! Overall I think this is a great car to drive especially when you want power, features and looks.

Bold muscular looks.Excellent ground clearance.Great brakes.Good height for driver.Fast Pickup.Poor quality interiors. Cheap plastics. Poor quality music system.

Exterior Good looking & MACHO style. Looks solid with 16" tyres & alloys. Looks tall & handsome.

Interior (Features, Space & Comfort) Dashboard color scheme is excellent. looks cool from inside. Decent space inside. Boot space is very spacious. Great comfort.

Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox Very smooth riding, Excellent Ground clearence. Good mileage also. Since I have driven only 500 kms, gear box is little bit hard, hope it will improve after the first service.

Ride Quality & Handling Excellent, Better than Honda City. Noise free engine gives more riding fun. Excellent pickup.

Final Words Performance & looks wise it's a very well built car. Value for money. Gives a feeling of SUV as well. Looks more elegant & strong in 16" tyre & alloys. Good in city as well as on highways.

Areas of improvement Right side view needs an improvement. experienced some difficulty while driving around the roundabouts & curves. Pillar design needs to be changed. Stereo needs an up gradation. Need a solid stereo to match the strong built of SX4. Plastic quality of interiors also needs to be improved.

Excellent Style, Excellent Body build up, Cool Interiors, Excellent riding experience.Right side view, Stereo system needs to be upgraded.

Exterior Beautiful exteriors. High ground clearance(a must for Indian Roads).Muscular looks.

Interior (Features, Space & Comfort) Very spacious and comfortable Interiors. High seating which gives you a feeling of driving a SUV. Stearing mounted controls, integrated music system. Silent cabin. A host of safety features which makes you feel that you are in your safe cocoon. Automatic climate contol. Adjustable driver seat..you can go on & on.

Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox Engine performance is good. It is very silent. Gear shift is very smooth. Havent kept record of the fuel economy but it should not be below 12Kmpl.

Ride Quality & Handling Overall ride quality is very good.

Final Words It is an excellent car. Value for money. Rear view and A-pillar blind spots are a problem but you soon get used to it. Initially I thought that Reverse parking sensors are must and I was ready to go for it but within 2-3 days of buying this car I got used to reversing it and now I dont feel a need for sensors or Rear view camera. It was a tough decision to choose from various available sedan's in the market. I started my search few months back and finally narrowed it to SX4.  Today I am happy I made that decision. If you are a fence sitter like me and wondering wether to go for SX4 or not then I would suggest guys just jump for it.

Areas of improvement A-pillar blind spot is a major issue with the car. I still wonder after so many complaints why hasn't been any action taken on the same by Maruti.

Very Spacious, Smooth, Boot space, Big wheels, Silent engine, host of safety featuresA-pillar blind spot, Rear view

Exterior A bold exterior which spells raw power.

Interior (Features, Space & Comfort) Rich interiors, spaciou for a 2 plus 2 configuration, the dash board is high in the front is high and therefore gives a feeling of less leg space.

Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox A powerful engine with a roarign sound on the lower gear, power to weight ratio is high and if not controlled one tends get gerks on the first gear which is due to powerful first gear.

Ride Quality & Handling Absolutely smooth, the suspensions are great, crosses minor bumps without the passangers even knowing about it, has a high road clearence so that much more better for Indian road conditions.

Final Words A great buy, if you have anything like swift or manza in mind it is better to go for SX4 after streaching the budget a bit.

Areas of improvement Minor issues like a DIN 2 music may be included in the company fitments, an addition of air bags for all version and ABS will be welcome.

An aggressive looking mean machine with the passanger canopy looking like a cockpitSlightly low on the fuel economy, missign vents for rear seats
