I took it out for a spin on the NH2, Delhi-Agra highway, an excellent highway, with smooth tarmac road, ideal for testing a car's speed limits (watch out for NHAI sleuths though! They sit around with speed guns and the speed limit is 90 kmph). I kept a sharp lookout for NHAI chaps, on a sunday morning they were probably napping late! There's a concrete tarmac stretch between Palwal and Hodal, rammed the accelerator pedal on the floor. The car crossed 140 kmph mark, didn't have to guts to go beyond. Even at the speed of Shatabdi express, the car was very stable and hardly any engine noise came through.

This is the ultimate driver's car, boy! If you don't bother about mileage, then this is the car to go for, at just 6.5 lac on road (Haryana), this is an excellent VFM prposition, with Maruti's legendary service backup and reasonably priced spares.

Not a city car though, its big size makes it diffcult to park and it can be difficult to handle this car in a bumper-to-bumper traffic. This is not a car for your daily home-office-supermarket commuting, this is a car for open roads and for Sundays. The high ground clearance makes it easy to drive the car on bad roads as well.

Minus points - The build quality and fit and finish is suspect. Can't say how the car will look like after it had done 100,000 kms!

excellent handling, great pickupbad ergonomics, Why the hell Maruti doesn't keep the short driver in mind?

SX4 but I usuely call it SEXY4 due to its macho looks, the size of car is ment for large boys, I feel it made for me as Im 6'4" tall, the driving pleasure is marvelous as smooth as you are flying in the air, the features like ABS, traction control and Airbags give extra confident while driving, the size of tyres I must say "WOW" beyond doubt, helps in smooth riding, best ground clearence in class, climate control feature is too cool to use, Audio controls on steering make driving more safe and easy to use audio while driving, Boot space is too much to handdle the whole weekend stuff.., I am driving it from las Six months, this beauty is my fourth car from Maruti stable from Maruti800 then ZEN VX then EsteemLXi Velocity addition and finely SX4, the best car made by Suzuki Co.

Question: Are you for the CAR or CAR is for you?

Ans:  If Car is for you, continue reading.   If you are for the CAR.   Please stop here.

If you want a CAR which is value for money and make even the costiliest CAR owners turn their heads, then here is the CAR SX4.   No worries on how you use it, it serves you; unlike other car where you how to worry about the cost for repair and even then they do not stand up to there mark.    This CAR is meant for peopel who want to acheive some thing different in life.

A very good performer on the high way.    Engin not very pepi in the city traffic.   Good car for city use and going out of station, it is always ready to go out.

Milege is decent, like driving mini SUV.

Value for money, easy of use on bad roads and on roads with high humpsEngine is not pepi at low speed (less the 2000 rpm), this is negative to drive in city traf conditio

just completed 30K kms on my Maruti Suzuki SX4 VXi ( purchased August ’07). It has been an exhilarating experience for most of the time with niggling problems and rattles rearing its head every once in a while.

The good news first - Until recently, I was driving on the jam packed, stop-go-stop roads of Delhi. Despite its size, the SX4 is nimble enough to negotiate bad traffic and  bad roads. Compared to a Ford Fiesta or Honda City ( which i also travel in often), the pothole bumps hardly register inside. Also, the the cabin space and high seating pain  doesn’t give me a pain in the knees , operating the clutch and gas pedals. Which I get in both the other cars mentioned. Mileage is 10km/ lit constantly.

I am hoping to drive this car for the next 4 years, and planning to cover around 1,50,000 by then and believe me, this is the only car in this segment that looks like going that distance without falling apart.
Maybe even a higher class.. My friend sold off his Scorpio in 2 years ’cos it was coming apart. The Optra doesn’t look and feel sturdy enough.. The Civic scrapes at every bump.. So well, overall for our driving conditions, the SX4 tops!!

Great styling , high ground clearance.bad interiors and a little sturdy gear shift

I own this ZXI for almost 18 months now. I have carefully choosen this car after test driving all possible alternatives number of times. Though Honda city has a refined engine, I felt SX4 has better power on tap, and superb drivability. I drove it at 125 kmph on highway, it was absolutely flawless, inspiring, quiet (you get slight road noise on roads- not so great, but that again is a feeling, few drivers like me seek to enjoy driving. The protruding middle rear seat problem was solved, when I fitted a good seat cover. The engine grunt at higher rpm gives you a sense of power. I feel SX4 has got a different attitude and appeal with its high ground clearance (16 inch alloy) and stance blended with performance. Maruti has got excellent service support, my car was recalled and clutch assmbly was replaced, as they anticipated technical prob in future. The instrument cluster with steering mounted controls Is quite upmarket and gives you a feeling of a mordern highend cocpt. The interiors are dual colored, and by no means cheap. Its really a good value for money car

Car is ok but only the problem is with service centre,  They don't give full attention towards the service.  for each and every prbolems cannot be told by the user unless he knows the problem and it is not possible practicly incase the customer is not having enough experinece in the car.  The dealer who suppose to check the vehicle condition  when the car comes for service and make it perfectly alright as per the company's specification and should not wait for customer's to provide comments.  This has to be taken care of by the dealer which in turn take care of the performance of car in the market.

I like this car very much because it has a very good look.

This car is designed for self driven executives in India and large number of executives are showing interest to buy this car, this has a very beutiful style in its class and fuel economy is also very good, the design taken by the Maruthi Udyog Limited is appreciable, whenever and whereever the requirement is there MUL is ready to design for the same with the requirement of the Indians and thanks to the MUL for designing this car.

The seating capacity is good and comfort the control panel and the gear shift and front view and lighting braking are excellent and the technology used in this is very latest one, performance is excellent in its class, in my view no compromise with this car, it has a very good features, excellent drive, excellent braking, everything is perfect and no match with other cars.

good fuel economy and good style

Atlast the day have come to write a review for SX4,
I have been browsing carwale for almost 2 months now to decide for my new car
and finally I bought a SX4 ZXI version.
I have test driven all the mid size cars and looked at all aspects of it,
I wanted the following few things in my car:-
      a sedan,
      a drivers car,
a powerful car with a luxurious attitude,
      loaded with security features,
and last but not the least, fuel economy.
And all these features I got it in SX4.

Now let us talk about the all time talked about part "the mileage".
I want to clear out here is that it depends upon your driving habbit,
I just got my tank full today and calculated that am getting around 9.80 kmpl (to be precise)
and i have been driving in heavy traffic for the past one week with AC on.( kept in 24-25 C).

Just to add in here a point regarding how to achieve good mileage,
never accelerate to more then 2000 RPM (exception is in case of 5th gear and your speed is more then 80kmph),
always try to go for the top gear and keep the AC in a comfortable temperature around 24-25 deg C.

The dealer have assured me that after few servicing the mileage will increase.
I need to check the mileage in highway, will keep posted once i get that numbers too.

oh how can i forget to tell you about the steering audio controls. they are just awesome!!
I am enjoying the music system with the controls on the steering.

      Will keep you posted.

      Rohan

i purchased the car 3 months back and i am more than happy with the car and its performance. first of all you cannot compare it with honda city as city is more comfortable both in city and on long distances also city has better pickup and mileage. i took the car to Ajmer from delhi. its like 400 km approx and its all highway. i drove the car at like 160kmph but there was lot of noise. due to the trucks on the road i had to reduce speed anyways and at around 120 to 130 the car was running pretty smoothly with not much noise. ppl have been saying that the transmission is hard. yes it is not as smooth as honda but when u put the car in the 4th gear at 80kmph the car's pickup makes u forget the hard gear shift. within few min u get used to the gearshift. over all i love the car... its huge seats are pretty comfortable and the boot space is amazing. can fit baggage of 5 ppl with clothings for a month. :D its just a bit noisy at high speeds but u wont take the car at 140kmph everyday. and for the price its worth it.... its pretty comfortable and stable and its amazing pickup makes is the best car at this price range.... i just love to overtake other cars even in the 4th gear.. test drive it to feel it... its a true beast.....amazing value for money, fair fuel economy, definitly manoutside noise above 120kmph, not comparable with honda city.

Exterior Exterior styling and appearance are quite good. The body is very sturdy and well built. The car has got a very good ground clearance which u can bank on while riding through bumpy roads. The door handles have been copied down from swift. Considering the cost of the car, this should have been changed or made to look more stylish.

Interior (Features, Space & Comfort) The interiors remind us constantly of the swift hatchback. Right from the dashboard to all controls and even the steering wheel have not been changed. Right from  Alto k 10, all lower end maruti cars have the same steering wheel. The fabric looks ok but still the interiors are very average for the luxury sedan. Front driver and passenger lights have been added which look good. The car looks spacious from inside but however the leg space for a tall rear passenger is a bit of concern. Tall passengers seated at the rear have to keep their legs folded tight all the time. The seats at the rear are however very comfortable and there is ample thigh support. Long drives were not tiring at all. The arm rest for the rear passengers can now be folded back fully unlike the previous versions of sx4. This makes way for a fifth passenger to be comfortably seated. The leg space for the fifth passenger however is reduced and not very comfortable because of the central tunnel which is positioned a bit higher. The car however feels safe from inside. The air bags, ABS and immobilizer have all been provided which enhance the safety and trustablility.

Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox The diesel engine is very smooth and refined. The VGT unit is very good and the turbo lag is barely perceptible. The throttle is smooth and highly responsive and overtaking even within the city is effortless. The car however feels underpowered as the engine is only 1248cc. The engine becomes just a bit noisy above 2000rpms and the vibrations can be felt over the throttle. Upto 120 kmph, the car feels good. Above this speed the whole body including the steering wheel start vibrating excessively. At 130-140kmph, this slightly reduces but the car starts feeling unsafe. I personally feel that the car like its petrol counterpart should have been provided with a 1.6L diesel engine. Simply putting on the same engine which power Ritz and Swift is really not appropriate. This car which costs 10 lakhs on road should have an engine different from those which power sub 5 lakhs cars. The only good thing about the engine is that it is already a hit in the market and is very reliable. The fuel economy I now get is around 14 kmpl within city limits, 15 kmpl on highways driving at speeds around 110-130kmph and 17 kmpl driving at 70 - 90 kmph. The gear box is excellent and very smooth.

Ride Quality & Handling The handling is easy but the ride quality is not upto the mark for a 10 lakh car. The suspensions have been tinkered with and are definitely better than the previous petrol sx4 cars. The ride is smooth but even small rough patches on the road make the car jerky and we can sometimes feel the jolts even from very small bumps. Long drives on good roads are however effortless.

Final Words This car is meant for the person who is looking for a luxury sedan with low operating costs.

Areas of improvement Suspension, interiors have to be improved. The car feels underpowered. Suzuki should definitely replace it with a better engine.

Good fuel economy, easy handlingInteriors not very luxurious less leg space for rear passengers
