Just got my new Dzire Vdi BS4 in 16 days :)) A short summary after driving 1100 kms...
Exterior The car lacks the punchy looks of swift or i20 but still minimilast exteriors go good. Chrome exhaust Rocks the looks of the car and adds a bit spice to the rear.
Interior (Features, Space & Comfort) The colour matching of interior su*ks till you get an all black leather seats and steering wrap fitted to your car. Then looks amazing :))) Also The Black Tawanise plastic mats rock the car. The Car provides a good feature set but the music system is a little disappointiong b'coz it lacks USB port, CArd reader port. But an amount of RS 200 can set it right on the track by buying an FM modulator. THE rear seats are a lil' uncomfy but the addition of ARMrest rocks. Another thing is that the storage space is less in the interior cabin...
Everything else is good and the car is nice to have.
Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox The engine is amazing. tHe first 1000kms gave an milegae of 20km per litre with ac. That was really Nice. The gearbox is soft and nice and it has a nice sporty feel. Power comes in the 3rd gear and the engine zooms itself!!!
Ride Quality & Handling Ride quality is good except the bumpy suspension. In my opinion the car cuts itself very good i.e. the handling is NICe to have in a city car.
Final Words Excellent car, Must buy for this segment. I was considering the MANZA but changed my mood due to the Network and low maintainance of MARUTi and i guess i have made a right decision.
Areas of improvement The interiors, a bit of accesibilty in the cabin like increasing the storage space and please Maruti cahnge the name from Swift dzire to DZIRE. thats a must.
EXcellent engine, Nice style, Good feature set, exellent fuel economyinteriors dont match themselves, a bit of lack of space in rear seats

Look and Style Good.
Comfort Fair but cramped back space.
Pickup Amazingly fine.
Mileage Very good.
Best Features Masculine sturdy looks.
Needs to improve The features.
Overall Experience I am not a user of car but plan to buy one in near future. I have made a test drive and was motivated to write my pre-owner review of this car. I have gone through the various brochures of the various models but have ultimately opted for Maruti and even booked the Desire LDI after careful examination of various pros and cons. Now I am waiting for my turn to become the proud owner of Maruti Dezire. Definately a day will come when the dealer will inform me to collet my dream car. The waiting is very beautiful because I keep on dreaming and making various plans to go on the long drive. One thing which have pained me a lot is that the features offered by Maruti in LXI, VXI or ZXI(LDI,VDI or ZDI) models are similar in all of its models irrespective of their prices. For eg the LXI/LDI versions of Maruti does not have power windows of Stereos. It can be understood that VXI Model of Wagon R have power Windows and stereo but amazingly, the LDI version of Swift dezire does not have such features whereas its price is very high compared to that of the Wagon R. I am not comparing the Engine capacity because the maruti will say that the higher price is for the engine. This version cannot be agreed because other models such as Tata Manza, Ford Figo are providing the advanced features in their cars if compared to that of Maruti. The winning point is only the services which other cars do not have. I Cannot understand that why Maruti shows discrimination of features with their models. When someone is purchasing a higher model some basic features should be provided in the higher model as standard. The cost of power windows or stereo is not so much that Maruti cannot afford to provide in the Dezire LDI but it is pinching when such features are available in the lowers models such Alto Excite etc. The Estilo VXI have all features including the leather seats. It is understood that since this model have not become such popular therefore maruti have included these features to raise the sales of this car. The Swift models of maruti are available on the waiting therefore this opportunity is being encashed by the Company and they are offering their premium models on "as and where" basis. You have to pay extra for installing these features in your car whereas you have alreay paid a heavy amount for the higher model. Maruti have a good hold over the Indian Car Market but these cheap policies will bring a bad name to the Company.Though I have not owned a car yet but opted to stay with maruti due their good service network and positive image.I think that Maruti will consider on this point and will find to implement some positive changes in this regard. I will continue to submit my next review when I will own the Maruti Dezire in future.

Hi
I just bought swift dzire VXI in the Month of April 2008.& till date I drove 1500kms.
My last car was WAGONR LXI . Now this one is much better from my earlier car in the handling. Iam impressed with style & good looking car given by Maruti
As compare to Esteem , This Sedan is offering Stereo system & central locking & power windows in the 540k. but maruti should give the better quality Stereo System & also its suspension is little harder.
My main concern is mileage, in this part Dzire is lacking from other sedans. As off now iam only getting 10kmpl in normal condition & even i drive this to highways i got only 13kmpl.
I hope it will improve in
Please give the view if any body owned the Dzire VXI petrol.

Exterior Exteriors are nicely done. Rear windscreen should be more broader to ensure good visibility while reversing.
Interior (Features, Space & Comfort) Lxi does not come with much exciting features, you can get all bells and whistles fitted at the agency or outside but be careful of warranty issues! Space is good. Family of four is an ideal for the car but it sucks up 5 people pretty easily. Comfort is good but not excellent. You can feel discomfort while driving fully loaded with boot space consumed and 4 persons on board.
Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox Engine is refined and ensures good response at all speeds, though i personally feel that power is bit low when we are having a/c on.
Fuel economy is close to 11-12 km/ltr as car has done only 100 + kilometeres only as of now. It would go up surely but we should not expect much from big cars.
Gearbox is fine with slight problem in engaging reverse gear, may be its new thats why. Otherwise its swift and having smaller gear shifts.
Ride Quality & Handling Ride Quality is good but not class leading. You can feel pot holes and bumps passed on to cabin. Handling is good, its not a sports car so we have to be nice to the car and it reciprocates the same.
Final Words Go for it if you are a maruti fan. Car is good for a family and not for performance enthusiastics. Do consider other cars falling in same segment. I opted for it because my monthly driving never exceeds 700-800 kms and I have been driving maruti suzuki cars only so it could be an emotional thing also. Other car companies are also having wonderful product offerings these days with good service back up so one can always consider them.
Areas of improvement I am no technical guy but I feel that power should be more for this car.

Why the buy?
I had an Indigo LS and wanted a more modern car to replace it. The Indigo had started giving major problems and so I thought it was time to replace it.
Options?
Manza (for the SIZE), Fiesta (for the QUALITY), Verna (for the ENGINE) and the SD (for the PRICE, SERVICE AND SPARES). Only diesel versions were considered.
Manza - No go, did not want to go back to Tata. My Indigo had given great service for 5 years and something new was needed. Fiesta - Too many conflicting reviews esp about the service and spare parts cost. Plus the price was a wee bit too high. Verna - Priced out, poor rear leg room. So the choice became the SD.
First Impression
This car DOES NOT exude an air of high quality unlike the Fiesta. The projected vibes of giving max bang for the buck PLUS the famed MS service network and inexpensive spares are its ONLY USP. So high quality watchers - beware of disappointment. 5/10
Exteriors
The same Swift with a BMWesque boot. The car looks a bit foolish with the stock rims and tyres but fit 10 spoke alloys plus 185/70 Michelins and SUDDENLY, it looks like a 4 wheeled bulldog, a bit tubby and pugnacious, honestly! Its a**e goes a bit in the air like a scorpion with a sting and the whole package starts looking damn smart. Trust me on this, I have seen people look at it with that lips-twisted-downwards-"kya solid dikhti hai ab" look. 4/10 to 8/10 post change
Interiors
A little cramped after the Indigo, but not too much so. I purposely got the LDi to enable me to carry out after market fitment as per my needs.
A grey theme in the plastics and upholstery is sombre and of good quality but nothing to rave about. No rack under the intrument binnacle and there is a general paucity of cubby holes. The LDI has no airbag but the glove box is too small as the same one does duty on the AB SDs, too bad.
Front and rear leg room are just fine for medium sized folks but for 5 feet 11 inches and above, the rear legroom is terrible. The bottle holders in the rear doors are sheer genius - big enough for a large water bottle each.
The parcel shelf is stupid - it has recesses for speakers but these are too close together. Also, one has to cut thru the metal undertray to fit speakers - idiotic design.Resultantly, sound staging goes for a six.
Rear view is bad thru the rear wind screen esp for shorter drivers and it takes time to judge the perspective of the 4 wheels' position while parking - quite an odd feeling.
The A pillar to driver seat relationship is odd - one has to lean to the left and right to take in the perspective on any right turn exceeding about 130 degrees, very disconcerting feeling this...
The AC is a bloody Arctic zone - 2 minutes at 3 and you go to 1 and freeze your b***s off. And the rear seat cools super fast??? And this at 40+ deg C!!! And the eng exhaust warmer will heat YOU up as fast you had cooled down. Full marks.
Overall 7/10
Engine, Txn, Suspension
Fuel Economy
Ihad 15 kpl from 29 km on th odo till the first free service and then 15.25 till 3020km. 98% of the time with AC on AND in city crawl mode, so extrapolate to about 18-19 on the hiway w/o AC. For this engine - just great.
Major Grouses
The boot leaks from the on side i.e. driver side and rain water forms a pool in the stepney well. Bone dry on the other side. Some issue with the panel closure under the right tail light, I suspect.
The headlight cluster is lousy. At low as well as high beam, the lateral spread is too less for comfort.
Carpeting is cheap and poorly fitted, plastics in the boot are thin gauge.
The sheet metal is wafer thin - a cyclist's pedal edge will RIP it open, have seen it on a friend's car.
Overall Experience
Total VFM, a much more sophisticated and reliable avatar of the Indigo LS I had for 6 years. Some you win, some you lose so the SD is an overall 8/10.

Took a test drive of Maruti DZire diesel at Gurgaon a few days back. Here’s a quick summary of my observations:
1. Interiors are quite exciting compared to my Ford Ikon.
2. The engine is a show stealer. The thrust I experienced at any gear after the rpm crossed 2K is to be experienced to be believed. The moment I revved the engine up, the push it gave to the car was amazing. I haven’t driven diesel cars much, and hence would refrain from commenting extensively. Nevertheless, it was a pleasure to drive Dzire.
3. The gear transmission ration was enviable.
4. Driving position is good and rear visibility is sufficient, even for a medium height person like me.
5. The turning radius of Maruti dzire is quite good.
6. Brakes with ABS are powerful.
7. NVH levels (Noise, Vibration and Harshness) is minimal. One can hardly feel that it is a diesel car.
Dzire will definitely affect the sales of

let me make this clear. I haven,t driven the swift sedan oops! the dZire... I have just seen the vehicle. The first looks were impressive but to be honest I really thought that it was a swift except for the chrome strips which seems a bit dated. The boot looks really good, thanks to the well shaped boot lid, the chrome strips and the tail lamps. The boot opens in a curious mannner which remains to be seen.
the interiors are as the swift's. However the seats are beige coloured to improve the airy feeling which was missing in the earlier swift and the aged esteem. The front seats like the swift are supremely comfortable and supportive. The legroom at the rear is not much to impress.(a maruthi trademark) The claustrophic rearis now some what reduced. The vehicle is a makeshift one so the panel gaps at the rear doors are noticeable.
Dzire should be similar to the swift if the added weight of the boot may not affect its performance. The models are well priced except for the top end diesel. But it should be economical in the long run with about 19kmpl.
The car blends desirablity ,practicality, performance and affordablity unlike the Logan ,Accent, and Ikon . It can even lure customers from bigger fiesta and SX4.
This one is defenitely the one to go ............
Great engines, style, price and practicalitylegroom is tight ,styling is of Swifts, panel gaps at the rear doors

Exterior I like the round shape of the car. Nothing much to complain about the exterior.
Interior (Features, Space & Comfort) I guess ZDi model comes with all that you can ask for. Drove long distance 1500KM in 2 days with speed ranging from 80 to 120. It was comfortable for me, the driver as well as family. No aches.
Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox Excellent performance. Could overtake other vehicles at will. Could compete and go as fast as the likes of BENZ, INNOVA and SCORPIO. Very smooth gear box. No complains on fuel economy. It gave 18KM per litre with AC on all the time.
Ride Quality & Handling Ride quality could be better. No issues in handling the vechile. Easy to manoeuvre in heavy traffic as well as conjested city driving.
Final Words It is a fantastice car. Good value for money. I live in the ME and drive LANDCRUISER VXR and PRADO VX. But I like this DZIRE CAR as much.
Very good performance coupled with excellent fuel economyLack of leather seats
