Common man's Car of the decade

Exterior

 Exteriors are too good and care has been taken for the vehicle to look symmetric, well balanced, stylish and at the same time keeping it spacious inside. Important features like RearWiper, Small light with a switch in the boot, power windows, fog lamps, power steering, security system, other MGA accessories like reverse parking device and sensors, music system all this was a very good package offered to me late back in 2005. Even today there is hardly anything that other models offer on top of these features.

Interior (Features, Space & Comfort)

 As I said, its pretty specious inside for two to sit in the front and you can comfortably have 4 at the back. More over there is no compromise in the boot space and has been kept enough for a family of 4-5 people.

Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox

I have driven it on long road streaches, ghat sections. The engine performance is very good. I don't feel the load on engine even with air-conditioning is ON(unlike other models).

 Engine is so consistent in its performance that I have been only feeling my vehicle new even after 8 years of time. Everytime I do a proper servicing and fuel enjection cleaning, the engine sounds like new. And the fuel efficiency has been consistent throughout the years.

Ride Quality & Handling

 Riding is such a pleasure. Its so comfortable that I have driven it single handedly for more that 3 thousand kilomiters at a single tour and almost 12 kilometers at a stretch on Pune Kolhapur Bangalore Chennai highway. The comfort quality is class apart. And importantly the speed control is so adorable that I am in love with this vehicle.

I escaped an accident and alive now just because of the beautiful engineering done in this vehicle. I was steadily driving from Chennai to Bangalore when all of a sudden a govt bus coming from opposide side of the road towards me, took a sudden right turn and almost came in my path, blocking it almost completely but leaving very little space for my swift to pass between the bus on one side and cement road barrier on the left side. This happened near Vaniambadi where there is a small gap to the road divider where vehicles and cross to other side. I had to brake real hard(probably the first time in its life time) and utilise the narrow passage using the power stearing to its fullest advantage, since there was no chance of halting my vehicle completely. I am glad that my Swift stood to its expectations and the ABS, Power stearing and disk brakes and aero dynamics of the vehicle ran to my rescue and helped me save my life in even of a nasty highway roughup experience with the government Bus.

both me and my wife had a narrow escape and we are really thank ful to this vehicle for displaying its performance in time when it was needed the most.

Final Words

 I love my SWIFT and its is and going to be my life time family member. No matter how many cars I buy after this.

Areas of improvement  

 Absolutely none. Except if the music system was independent and unaffected by the engine start.

However there are few innovative suggestion which would make the vehicle even more desirable.

1. Some solution to escape from the roof getting HOT and unbearable inside without AC. I am a go green person and hate to use a/c all the time.

2. Hand brake like additional lever that can be used for driver to move the vehicle to a road side (in case of a failure) without actually getting outside a vehicle and pushing it manually. Never has my vehicle failed, nor during the monsoon or floodings. But this would definitely be a good option when traffic it crawling and yu really don't want to start your engine everytime when yu want to move a little further.

 

Spacious, Good Engineering, Fuel Efficient, Stylish, Driving comfort, delicate use,Not a single thing. I am struggling to find atleast one for last 8 years in my 2005 Zxi model.
