Oh what a car, man. I have purchased a new Maruti Swift diesel (VDi) version two weeks ago. I am very much happy and feeling proud to say that i am a owner of a vehicle

that gives more stunning performance, highly fuel efficient, reliable, powerful brakes and a sporty look. Well, all i am telling about is Maruti’s new Swift diesel variant. Swift diesel comes in two versions.LDi and VDi.Both are very good in performance but the VDi model comes with a fully loaded one compared to VDi.The steering is very much smooth to drive.Brakes are outstanding. It gives mileage of about
      20-21 KMPL on highways.

as far as looks are concerned, I Haven’t seen any other Indian car of its class that has better looks than Swift.

      - points

What Swift lacks is the storage space found on many competitive models. Wagon R has tones of storage space in the dash board. Indica has thoughtful spaces for the driver.

Swift has a plain stylish dash. There is one glove compartment, not very big though. There is a utility space on the center console, good enough to hold mobile phones and wallet. As usual door pockets and seat pockets. What disappoints me more is the absence of under seat parcel tray. The European version of Swift has this and Indian version of Santro and Getz has this. For a car with very less utility space, under seat parcel tray could have helped at least to store some audio cassettes and CDs. Everyone owning a car would agree that Cassettes and CDs take up most of the space in the dashboard

Boot is also not so generous. I would say it is much similar to Indica. Wagon R has the class leading space in its category. Swift is definitely not in podium in this section

This car may have won hearts, and it would be winning hearts untill a tough contender would arrive in the Indian car market. The first thing anybody would notice about this car would be the its style. It has got great curves and appeal to young buyers.

The front seat comfort is very good. Although this car does not have height adjust for the front seats, it has a good command over the road. However, the passengers at the rear would not be comfortable due to cramped legroom.

The performance of both the petrol and diesel motors is breath taking. It's gears have short throws and also have perfect gear ratios to make the drivers feel it as a power generator machine.

The fuel economy is also very respectable for both the motors giving out 13kmpl (overall in petrol motor) and 16kmpl (overall in diesel motor).

Its worth spending your hard earned money on this car, and i feel its the perfect small car if you are ready to spend somewhere between 4.5 to 6 lakhs rupees, ensuring you that the service backup provided by Maruti Suzuki is a piece of mind and hassle free.

Bikes were always my passion, but, since I have Driven SWIFT I feel I have new passion in my life.  As I said I had passion only for bikes, so I was not a guy who was good about Cars.  I was planning to for my fist CAR. I had made up mind fully to go for I10, before I took a test drive of SWIFT.I can tell after driving SWIFT there was no second thought in my mind about which one is better.

Drive was so comfortable and luxurious, that you never feel that you are driving a mid range car or luxury Toyota Cambry, comparing with Toyota coz that’s the only luxury car I have driven. Over all the it was an amazing experience. Today I have so much of knowledge about that I can have debate with anyone about CARS.

The swift is an amazing car it has a amazing performance with an amazing rear leg room more than perfect for a small car segment. When the AC is switched on in this car the car does not have a drag which gives it a better fuel consumption as the drag takes of more of the performance in the car. Atleast of that i know the car is amazing atleast for an indian car. The interiors ar great and the body guage is amazing. Stability on road. We had an opportunity to drive this car on a ghatt section in Kerala with the ac on and 7 member in the car and the car was just great and was moving forward in the 4 and 5th gear without any concern. I dont think any car can give this kind of a response. Really great and the car gave us a superb milage of 17.5 km/ltr

Performance, style, rear leg room, the only car which does not have a drag when the ac is onnothing i do not like

I found the interior space to be preety cozy and being driving pleasure, I’d like to highlight certain key negatives that a middle-class consumer such as me will always be concerned off. 1) Mileage - A Big problem area, while the average is very low (not more than 11 - 12 kms) in city conditions this adds an acute burden on your budget. This becomes critical when there is no specific difference you’ll feel between its Diesal variant, no matter if it’s pick-up or the sound. Therefore, opting for Diesal variant would be a prudent option. 2) Exterior - The quality of the exterior is not of very high standard and seems highly precarious in Indian conditions. When we look at a car for Indian roads, this car fails terribly also due to its ground clearance. Big minus.. 3) Loads of accessories under car body and below bumper is made of Plastic which gets worn and torn due to extreme whether conditions here...The result, very clear - The car starts asking for repair at very early stage as per Maruti Standards... My suggestion - Go with the Diesal varient if you want to buy a swift, Distance - Doesn’t matter with today’s DDIS technology....All the best Cheers!

With God's grace this is my first car, which I have purchased and before this none of my family members own a car. I have no experience as I never used any car, but as far as this car (Swift VXI) is concerned everyone has praised this car.

My friends and relatives have appreciated the purchase of this car and I think if the time comes I have to purchase one more car, my family members say that we will only purchase the Swift Car either it is Petrol or Diesel, but car will be swift. Its interior and seating capacity, both have appreciable.

Its look while running is very attractive and looks like a luxory car.

Good style and its grip on the roadThe car's interior is very good and space-wise also it is very good

This car is Good in the small car category with excellent fuel economy. Car’s looks are impressive and as you approach it - it looks big, really big. However once you step in, you wonder where all that space went. I believe the car has been bloated (DOORS etc) to probably make it safer. Once in, it appears only a bit roomier than say Maruti’s Alto.

The power of the 87bhp engine was good and one could feel the zing upon pressing the accelerator. I agree Swift looks fresh, sporty, cool. I agree that its very comfortable. If the AC works great (in Vxi) and the mileage in City driving conditions turns out to be between 12 to 14.

      Good fuel economyBad exteriors

Competing with the other cars of Maruti, Maruti Swift is gradually making its position in the world of mid-sized family car. Maruti Swift has come up with the special technical specifications of 16 valve 4-cylinder, 1300 cc engine generating power of solid 87bhp @ 6000 rpm.Competing with the other cars of Maruti, Maruti Swift is gradually making its position in the world of mid-sized family car. My Swift Vxi is due for IIIrd free service, after driving about 9K Kms, here are my comments:

Swiftly favoured to this...!! Terrific Car in all aspects; ride quality, power, braking & balance, comfort, ownership loyalty, maintenance, fuel economy...

Few people complain about knee brushing at rear passenger seats... Yes the space isn't liberal, BUT who cares.. when you get everything else in this super hatch.

Would like to change my tire profile from 165 to 185; BUT do not want to go for alloy (still puzzled with new Honda City as there is no alloy in all variants), Can anyone suggest/comment on the implications in regards to fuel economy, road grip etc., Is it preferable to increase from 165 to 185 with same 14 inch rim?? I feel this car definetely needs wider tires.. Maruti Suzuki should look into this.

I bought my Swift VDI on Feb 20th 2007. Before that i was in a dilemma whether to buy Swift or Hyundai Getz. After 3 months of my inability to decide, i was blessed with the arrival of Swift Vdi (diesel). I immediatly went for a test drive and WOW i was impressed. I was pleasently shocked by the Vdi, it had the best pickup. Once you cross 2rpm the turbo charger kicks in and you can feel the car take off. Swift has the best smooth looks around, in its segment (the rest are just so routine).

The sales guy bragged about very good mileage and all that, but seriously i never believed him for a sec (I was a little doubtful whether the car would still be so peppy after a few months or years). Anyway i loved the car and that was what mattered. I work in chennai and i travel an averege of 45 km per day in jam packed city traffic (only 1-2 gears). You will not believe that i get an amazing mileage of 15.8-16.2 in city. Every month or so i make an occasional trip to Bangalore. The highway sees me rip my swift at around 140 km per hr (Its sooo smooth).Yeah i do wish that the engine could have been more silent but cmon who's paying attention to the sound when your car is so charged up. My father owns a Ford Fiesta and a hyundai Accent. My swift is way more spacious than the accent.Unlike other cars i feel that the seating and the ride comfort of the car is excellent. when on the inside i donot feel that i'm in a small car at all.

Today after four months and 7600km with my Swift i can still fell that life in it when i drive it. I really wish that they would have come up with a Zdi version but i realise that the price would then be more that the next good sedan. If any of you car buyers need my advice i'd say if you are buying a car dont compromise with money and go for the lower versions cause its just not a car with out the full package. If you cannot afford i suggest you go for another model but the top version. Because once you buy your car and then feel that you should have done or bought something else then you have lost the real joy a car u like can give you. I bought my swift with ABS facility and i guess a powerful car needs ABS dont you think. Hoping that this review can be of some help to someone out there
