S-CROSS car is very fatal with high chance of accident. Guys please think before buying this car. I bought this car in pune, Maharashtra from NEXA-Kothari Wheels, Viman Nagar: 1)The power steering failed while turning the car and I almost met with an accident in the night of rainy season. (Faulty sensors were installed) 2)Auto AC automatically turns off to heater anytime it liikes (Faulty sensor) 3)Engine does not turn on in the morning. (Faulty keyless entry) 4)Remote key lock does not work (Faulty remote sensor) Car is still in workshop under repair due to faulty parts. No trained staff available to manage a so called 'PREMIUM' Car. They engineers of Kothari wheels have accepted that defect was before car delivered to me and are currently experimenting on my car (Basically on the job training). I have evidence on mail and recorded calls where they have accepted that faulty parts were installed but are not ready to change my vehicle. Would I be able to drive this premium vehicle now after repair when I do not know when the power steering may fail again while turning on road or may be at highway at a high speed??? I am sure if I would have met with an accident, they would have told me that all issues would have happened because of my accident. Or may be I wouldn't have been alive to tell them about power steering failure. One thing I have understood Maruti is good in small cars... but fails or even FATAL for passengers if you risk buying a premium car from them. They are trying to enter premium segment for long time, but are not ready yet.

Good mileage but high driving risk due to power steering failureThe power steering may fail while turning, AC switches off, Engine does not start, no trained staff

The car is well built with some nice curves and ofcourse with a shabby set of alloys . The use of high tensile steel adds to the built quality and strength. The quality has been improved drastically from the previous cars from the manufacturer. Ofcourse some may not like the overall design as we have got used to the curves and cuts of the other cars we see from Hyundai, ford etc etc. But I do believe that looks do decieve at times.

I test drove the S Cross 1.3 Alfa a few days ago. I was so impressed. I wanted to buy a decent car in the price range of 10 - 14 L ( Onroad price ). I tested i20 Active, Elite, Ecosport and Creta. After testing all these I found S cross is a good buy. The reason being as follows.

      1. The Ecosport is Sub 4 m and its small size is very much felt and the handling is also not that great.

      2. The i20 Elite and Active also the same. But the looks do decieve a lot where it fails on many issues. Built Quality, Ride quality and other small issues did made me drift away. The same with Creta and only thing which made me take a test drive is its a 4+ mtr vehicle. Nothing more exceptional and over priced.

Now to mention about S cross, People say its overpriced. Yes I do agree it is over priced for some variants ( Especially the 1.6 ). Just check out for the 1.3 l ZETA variant. It is amazingly priced. Look at the features

7 inch Infotainment system with touch and voice commands including GPS Navigation

      Cruise Control,

      Climate control A/C,

Push Start / Stop with smart key,

      Tilt and telescopic steering coloumn,

All four alloys with decent set of tyres (Not excellent but decent for a 1.3  powered car),

      All four disc brakes,

      ABS and EBD,

      Dual air bags,

Option of opening all 5 doors or only the driver door when the smart key is brought within the range.

And there are many features viz multi display speedo console, electrically adjustable and folding ORVM etc etc are a few to mention.

With all these it is 11,53,000 inr onroad in chennai. I didnt find a car with all these features at this price in the market. With MS pricing smartly at 9,99,000 ex showroom for the 1.3 Zeta with a mere 1000 rs, the customer is benefited of 5% tax as the vehicle is below 10,00,000 inr. So I do feel that this is a very good buy for this price range.

When I did a  test drive of the 1.3 Alfa ( As they dont have a Zeta Test Drive vehicle ) I felt the car really do handle well. The clutc is really very soft and the gear shift was smooth too. The road bumps and pot holes were taken care of the excellent shock obsorbers. The steering feel is very good while driving in the city and at speeds of 100 or 110 ( The max i tried ) the car stayed rigid on road and never felt any kind of sway or lightness on the steering . This impressed me well as I'm not a guy who does high speeds ( above 120 or so ). I did like the all black interior as it gives a sporty feel and the silver lining adds a premium look. The seats are very supportive and are very comfortable. Especially the arm rests for the driver is very comfortable and surely I will enjoy it while i go on long drives.

MS should have thought about the shabby looking Alloys for this nice car and I really don't understand how they could miss out on something which pulls down the appearance of the car to a large extent.

      Overall it's worth buying a 1.3 l ZETA.

Friends, I must say this vehicle is such a pathetic quality in my short experience, which is as short as 5-6days doing just 279kms. I had a narrow escape from a head on collision with a tanker truck while overtaking a vehicle. All of us have a calculation while overtaking. This vehicle suddenly stopped releasing its engine power during the overtake and I was stuck half way through and almost got hit.

I found the check engine on and opened the engine room to have a look. I found the turbo hose broken. Next step was to reach the people who sold me this vehicle. None of them were available probably being a weekend sunday. Next step was to look for roadside assistance and I could not find any such numbers stuck to the vehicle. I tried most of the numbers in the service network booklet and could not reach anyone for help. Finally I found the toll free number at the last page of the booklet which can be reached only from a BSNL line. WOW. what a support. Upon getting through I said I am in an emergency situation and needs immediate support. Since I could not hear the voice properly, I conveyed my mobile number and waited for a call return as promised by the agent. I waited for more than 15mins and decided to take another car and continue my journey.

After I reached back, Nexa team visited my home to inspect the damage and suggested replacing the damaged hose, without giving any valid reason for the damage caused. I was told verbally by one of the senior that it may be a rodent attack;). The vehicle didn't have a PDI OK sticker on it and I questioned the matter as I had already written the warranty clause in the Owner's manual.

      7th clause - Owner's Warranty Responsibilities:

It is responsibility of each owner to:

      Make certain that the PDI card was completed at the time of delivery of the vehicle;

The best part is this manual is delivered to an owner while delivering the vehicle.:) so I need not say how far we can ensure the Owner's warranty responsibilities. Please read the booklet if you get a chance.

While I pointed all these matters, they never had any convincing answers for most of my concerns. They simply wanted to take the vehicle away and replace the damaged part and return the car to me.

As the damage has happened to a turbo hose. The damage will have effect on other parts of the engine with dirt entering the air channel & also damaging the sensors in that area with impact damage and abrasion to the engine, which will start to reduce the efficiency of the turbo. Why would I be suffering such a damage at the 279th kilometer of a new vehicle. I demanded a decent compensation as they refused to accept the return of the damaged car or give me a new car.

I have informed them that I will be left with no option other than moving legal to protect my interests, to which they are least bothered.

Still it is better for them not to accept the following facts and continue selling the car as much as possible by reducing price as frequently as possible. Please notice the price drop from launch time and do not blindly trust the quality of Nexa series from maruti, as I found the rubber, electrical and other non metal molded parts are all substandard, which will have serious damages causing to the engine and other systems sooner. A search for S Cross reviews revealed the severe sensor issues which is making the vehicle malfunction in many ways. I suspect this turbo hose damage could be due to the faulty sensors.

My sincere advice to S Cross Buyers is to open the engine room and check on the above mentioned parts and its quality. You will find the S Cross Bonnet cover so low in weight compare to a Ford Eco Sport. Check the body toughness and compare with other cars in the same class such as duster, eco sport, Etios cross etc. Front Air Bags are statutory and mandatory according to the RTA in india. Dealers project it as a feature offered from their big heart.

I must say. Just don't buy this car for its good reasons considering the hidden cheating elements in it and the attitude of the company.

I regret changing my decision not to go for Creta, who offered INR. 100000 more for my old car. I opted for S Cross because they were willing to deliver immediate, which has bombed my expectations.

Friends, A Big NO NO NO to S Cross & Nexa Cochin by Popular.

I am using S-Cross (1.3L Zeta) since last 10 days, the car has awesome interior. It has ample of leg space infact much more than Renault Duster, Nissan Terrano and Hyundai Creta. S-Cross has descent pick up and power. I am getting the mileage of around 17-18 kmpl in city (with AC), I still do not have mileage for Highways. Car features (Navigation, Cruise Control) are awesome in this price range. Ground clearance is 180mm which is quite descent and good enough to tackle indian roads. I did not encounter any issue with ground clearance even on bad road conditions. I would recommend this car to everyone who wanted to have crossover. If you can ignore a look for a while then you can definitely buy S-Cross which has more other features than car in this segment. It has feel of SUV and comfort of Sedan. Overall its a value for money.Leg space and ground clearanceLook

Exterior Excellent dynamics but these guys really need to hire good designers to enhace the crisps and curves or simply change the management team. Very bad alloys and tyres. be ready to spend on it.

Interior (Features, Space & Comfort) Very good for alpha, do not go for other variant as its lack of many premium things which on the period of time everyone will regret. Fantastic leg room. There are feww things which NEXA must provide for this price like car cover and mats.

Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox For 1.3 it's a waste of space under bonnet. but may be it will keep engine cool :)

Ride Quality & Handling Change the tyres and its good.

Final Words Bbetter than all competitor. its a marriage material not girl or boy friend like stuff.

Areas of improvement Nexa premium feel. nexa customer services, price variation within city dealers. front plastic cladding is not at all upto the mark. its very thin.Thre is no premium feelings for the customers. I guess all this addtional amount these guys are taking from customers pocket.

interior, features, driving and supsensions are fantastic.Nexa dealership, price and yes tyres and alloy.

Classy Cabin At this price no other vehicle has such quality interiors.

Comfort Roomie cabin with ample head room and comfortable and plushy seats both front and back with touchscreen infotainment system.

Ride Quality Not comparable to duster, but better than other cars, suvs in this price range.

Visibility - Awesome visibility around the car, excellent design among all the cars in terms of visibility.

      Rear AC Vent is absent.

Also, Door handle LEDs and LED Lit Scuff Plates presence would have added to the premium feel.

Final Words - Simply Superb and a great alternative to other sedans, suvs and muvs in the pricerange of 9-15 Lakhs.

Best Pick is High End version of 1.3DDIS (Alpha) - On road 13 Lakhs

Best option in this price range of all the cars.

I am using the 1.3 Zeta in Delhi for the past 40 days and have driven around 1800 KM. First service cost Rs. 60 (soap pouches for the washer). Kitna Deti hai ?  Around 17-18 KM in the city of Delhi with AC. Went to Chandigarh last weekend and drove 700 KM, got 26.9 Km/Litre of Diesel. Amazing.

A word about the Nexa showrooms. Bought on August 17 from the footpath outside a Nexa showroom as the Nexa showroom was under development. Maruti only knows how to sell cheap cars.

A word about the service, took it for first servicing at one of the service stations of a dealer. The guys had not seen the car before. Luckily there are no issues with the car except:

      1. The left turn indicator does not stop even after the turn

      2. The AC stopped on 3-4 occasions randomly while in AUTO position. A turn of the right knob (fan speed) brough it back to life on every occasion.

All said, I am thoroughly  enjoying the drive, especially Cruise Control on highways.

Fuel Economy is excellentPickup is rather dull.

I took my SCross 1.3 in September and have gone for a long drive at North east from banglore. Total Drive of 4000 KMS in 5 days😎😎. I have realized that this car is really a luxary on drive and comfort.

I have drove this car continuously for 1400 KMS in 24 HRS from Banglore to Bhubaneswar. We were 4 member and Trust me it was a superb drive for me and non of us felt uncomfortable for a second in this drive. This car passes pot holes like anything, but yes i must say that millege is not that good. The millege I have got for the over all drive is some 16 to 17 KM/L and my average speed was some 130 KM/H.

The best thing is when i am trying to overtake some one on lower speed then also i dont have to low down my gears, it gives a superb pickup from 50-60 to 120-130.

Exterior The desigin is very good, most of the people thought that is it BMW X1(When i took in September).

Interior (Features, Space & Comfort) Interrior is just fabulas, great quality, great spase and comfort.

Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox Engine is good, it hasa superb power picup and controls. Breaking is superb, its 4 Disc break even in the lower model. I have breakd in 130 Speed to 0 in just 5 to 6 Seconds with superb handeling and controll. Gear is very very soft.

Ride Quality & Handling Drivng and handling is very nice. This is a really a cross over, Sedan Comfort and SUV Quality. My top speen with SCross is 180Km/Hr....😄

Final Words I happy to have this car. Befor gettingthis car me and my wife have tryed XUV 500, Creta, Scorpio, Duster, Ciaz & Verna. But after driving SCross my wife got like.."I want this car" and she imediatly brought Rs 50K Cheaq to book😎.

Areas of improvement I think Millege.

Super Interior, Exterior, Pickup, Breaking and HandlingMileage not that good and No Service Experts

Exterior I purhcased S Cross 1.6 Alpha in August and got it within 2 weeks of time from the date of booking. Xenon projector lamps adds to the appeal of the car.

Interior (Features, Space & Comfort) This is a fully loaded vehicle, so cant think of anything as a miss. While people say that lack of rear A/ C vent is a problem, ac cooling in maruthi verhicles is the best, so never felt that I missed it.Features wise its packed with a long  list, which even some of the rivals (Hyundai) dont offer and that too at a premium price.

Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox This vehicle is a beast. Beyond 1700 RPM it becomes very lively and breezes past with ease.

I recently had been on a drive to Bangalore and it clocked a mileage of 25 km/l (vow, surprised myself). Had tested cruise all through this drive and driving was a pleasure. In city, its around 15km, thanks to increasing traffic & road conditions in Hyderabad

All of this is after my drive within 2500km.

Ride Quality & Handling Its solid.

Final Words Its good car, bang for the bucks packed with features.

Areas of improvement Interior lighting is a bit gloomy, can be better.

Value for money, feature packed, Maruthi service network & post sales customer care.Thinking ?

Buying and service experience from Kothari Nexa, Viman Nagar Pune - 1/5 They were selling this as a go-anywhere SUV, very misleading. Gave me a car without registration and got me into trouble with the traffic police. Messed up my car documents and Nexa card, but could not rectify it through them in spite of multiple requests. Driving experience - 4/5, front overhang is a problem The clutch is heavy, so driving it in choc-a-bloc traffic is a pain for the left leg. Smooth highway cruiser, very calm even at 120 km/h (legally driven on the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway). Not an off-roader, the ground clearance, wheelbase and huge front overhang mean you will scrape and destroy something if you do try going off-road. Performance - 5/5 Underrated in this department. The 1.6-litre engine is a gem. Past the turbo-lag, it flies. Can easily hit 180 km/h on the speedo. Keep up with cars more expensive. I wish the clutch was lighter, would have made it an even better performance car Service - Expensive at Nexa Better shift to a local mechanic after the warranty period. Nexa service costs are high and the work is shoddy. Because the same dealer will have both Nexa and Arena dealerships, they will send the Arena cars over to the better-equipped Nexa service centre and destroy the experience altogether. I have never paid less than 20k for a periodic service at any Nexa service centre in Maharashtra (was slightly less in Chennai), but the work leaves a LOT to be desired. Happy with my mechanic now, but not everyone can find good ones. Pros 1) Spacious - is one of the few cars in its class which can seat five people comfortably 2) Quick and fast - 0-100 km/h in under 11 seconds, top speed near 200 km/h (196.8 km/h on a GPS logger) 3) Smooth highway cruiser - Can easily cruise at 120 km/h for long distances 4) Good mileage if you use it mostly on the highway - Average mileage over 6 years and 1.3 lakh km of driving has been 17 kmpl, easily achieves over 22 km/l even when cruising on the highway 5) Good, useful features - Wired Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, electrically adjustable and foldable seats, good quality rear-view camera, 60:40 split rear seats Cons 1) Boot space is limited - Can not fit luggage for more than two adults on a long trip 2) Horrible headlights - The projector headlights are not at all good for night driving, need upgrades 3) paint quality not good - Thinnest paint layers I have seen on a car 4) No rear crash structure - Unlike the model sold internationally, the S-Cross sold in India does not get a rear crash member. A fellow owner had to get extensive repairs after an Alto collided with it at not-so-high speeds! 5) Needs ventilated front seats - All-black cabin does not help with the heat in summers 6) Not easy to replace My S-Cross is now over six years old and has been driven for over 1.3 lakh km. I have been finding it very difficult to find a car that can be a worthy replacement. I think I will have to spend more than Rs 20 lakhs (ex-showroom)!
