I must appreciate Maruti, the way it names its cars. Unique and out of the box. Haven't heard of The word Ritz, Celerio, Ertiga, etc before their launch. Unlike the cars makers, who use ordinary names like grand i10, superb, harrier, venue, etc, Maruti chooses out of the box names.
Now coming to Ritz, 2011, Vxi abs,
I bought this car from a friend, without even having a glance at it. It happened in a few hours, he told me that he was selling it, I was keen to buy. At time of buying, I considered to get a cng kit installed in it, but it has been a year, I never felt the need for it. At the time of buying, it was 10 years old and was driven just 50,000 kms, for 1,30,000. The listed price on olx and other platforms is around 3 lakhs. You can say, kind of a steal deal.
I have driven it for more than 10,000 kms, driving outstation for twice a month.
The car has surprised me in some areas,
1. The amount of headroom you get, not less than a room in itself. Trust me, you can stand and drive.
2. The driving position is very comfortable. A huge windscreen and upright driving position. I am 5'8 and i have really never felt the need of having height adjustments.
3. Decent amount of legroom in the back seat adds to the USP of the car.
4. The engine is responsive, i got just the air filter clean and oil filter replaced. There was no need for an oil change. Might get it done after a few hundred kms.
5. The boot capacity is also decent. Not the best but you can fit in 2 medium size suitcases and 2 backpacks.
6. The car is stable at high speeds. I drove it upto 120 kmph. ( My model has ABS feature)
7. Punchy styling and sports appeal. The car was once famous among youth, because of the sporty appeal it offers. Swift and Ritz, share majority of the features and audience, but the swift in 2011 was boxy looking and felt quite outdated. Ritz was a fresh new design. USP being, it offered ABS and the headroom.
The negatives-
1. The car is not durable. This is common with all Maruti cars and I knew it at time of buying. A strong punch on the car with surely surprise you with an expected outcome.
2. Seats are not comfortable. The back seat has a upright seating position, which can be harassing on long trips. Cant imagine three people on the seat, because there isn't enough shoulder room.
3. Maruti cars are famous for mileage. Mine gives around 13 kmph with ac on. However, it depends on driving style also, but still, company claims around 20 kmph, i can expect atleast 15 kmph.
4. Disgusting shockers. I cant blame the car, because it has been 11 years now, but once 5 people sit inside the car, the shockers are suppressed to its minimum.
5. Very loud engine. This is not because of the age of the car, it is like this only. My friend comments, from day one it sounds like a generator has been turned on.
I got the last service done from a local mechanic, whom i trust the most. He said there was no need for an oil change, also mention d earlier, the air filter and oil filter were replaced, which cost around 1500 rs., Quite inexpensive. Maruti cars are well known for this.
I am now using it as my primary car, for daily city commute, like going to college or visiting someone. For distant travel, i commute with Honda amaze.
Lastly, Ritz is a car which will keep you surprised, and is great for city use.
Do give this review a thumbs up,
Thanking You
