Exterior For me the styling looks good and unique.

Interior The quality of material uesd is very good and even the finish is good. But only the fit is dissapointing. Due to this bad fit, ratlles are present. But this is not a big issue. Comfort and space is superb! Features are ok for the price what you pay

Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox Engine is a gem! A combination of excellent power and mileage. I easily get 15-16Kms/ltr in both cities and highways. This engine makes overtaking effortless.

Ride Quality & Handling Low speed ride quality is very good, even on bad roads. But at high speeds like 120 Km/hr, the ride gets bouncy a little bit therby affecting the handling. But overall, the handling and ride quality is better than others except for a few.

Final Words Owning it, I am very proud and happy with Ritz. Service and cost of service is very good.

Areas of improvement The only area where Maruti have to work is damping and proper fitment of parts especially in the interiors.

K-series Engine(Both performance & mileage), space & comfortRatlles and build quality issues

      Exterior

Strongly built, Stylish & refreshing looks

      Interior (Features, Space & Comfort)

Not the best features but still ok with improvement in quality of plastics. Design of dash board and gearbox has been good. Comfortable for front passengers with good cabin space. Great visibility. Comfort for rear passengers is compromised especially with three passengers in the rear seat.

Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox

Has been exceptionally good with great pickup when compared with other hatches in its segment. More stable and sturdy than Maruti Swift. I've clocked 37000km in 2 years still giving me milage of 18-19 in city and 21-22 on the highways with 100% A/C on. Gear box is smooth but still needs refinement to meet the standards of swift gear box which is much smoother, light and slicky.

      Ride Quality & Handling

Very Good but not the best since it is a tall boy design

      Final Words

Worth a buy. Go for it

      Areas of improvement

Rear seat comfort, gear box refinement

Power, pickup, milage, low cost of maintenance can be compared to maintenance of a bikerear seating comfort

      Hi Friends,

I own a Ritz ZXI since one and a half-years now.

Ever wondered why advertisement of Ritz is not done aggresively.

Just like in old days i have never seen an ad of yamaha rx 100 which was a jewel indeed. I guess the same thing is with Ritz which is a best kept secret.

I never thoght of buying this car initiallty and had my eyes on Polo , Swift , Figo and Punto. Everyone around me kept me de-motivated about Ritz because of rear looks.I was confused over other options also after test drive as well. Then one day i took a drive of Ritz of one of my friend on the highway. That convinced me totally that this is the car for me.

Forget negetive thought about rear looks which anyway won't matter after 1-2 months. All you will think about is performance and comfort.

Therefore, got myself a Ritz ZXI (Blazing Blue color with Alloy wheels (. Here is an account of my one and a half year of experience of this fantastic machine.

Exterior Exteriors are not that bad as many people put it. It has got a tough look and the tail lights look superb at night.

Interior (Features, Space & Comfort) I guess this was a suprise for me. The seating height makes you feel like driving a SUV. I was suprised to see so much space in inside. Very comfortable Lot of trays and utilities to keep things inisde. Gear box is nicely within reach. ZXI comes equipped with air bags as well. Oerall you will feel cozy while inside the car.

Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox I have travelled long distances with this car - Shimle , Narkanda , Jaipur , Mussourie , Chandigrah from Delhi. Boss this is the car to beat on highways . Not even a single car could touch its speed . Somehow after 60-70Km / hr this car can speed real quick to 160 km/hr . The engine responds brilliantly when you demand more power.

The engine is very silent and you won't notice any difference in sound or power with a/c or without a/c. Within city with a/c in peak summers , i ahve seen mostly a mileage of 13-14 km/litre. But on optimum drive in city gives me around 17 km/ litre and on highways around 20 km/litre.

Ride Quality & Handling I have driven for hours and never felt cramped wherever i stopped. The stability on high speeds is very good

Final Words I have driven variety of cars but Ritz is definitely special. I guess this car always amazes me with its performance and comfort. This is a great value for money car and definitely a best kept secret waiting to be revealed only for its lucky owners.

Areas of improvement A nice set f cup holders will add more excitement on long drives.

Stability , Top Speed , Silent Engine , ComfortNo Cup Holders

      Exterior

THe ritz looks like a big car coz of its height and the rear shape looks good actually and the doors are biigger and better.

      Interior (Features, Space & Comfort)

The seats are more comfortable than swift and figo.lot of features and the 60:40 seat slpit is the best part of it,it helps in passenger and goods to be comfortably placed.very spacious interiors coz of its height, most comfortable for tall people.

Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox

The engine is very smooth and produces less noice, very smooth gearbox, the 3rd gear shift is also smooth compared to other cars. It gives me a fuel economy of 18 in the city and 21 in the highways.touched a top speed of 187 once in my ritz,no viberation and perfect control with the driver. excellent pickup at 3rd gear and good at crucial overtakings.

      Ride Quality & Handling

The staring is very smooth and has good control. the suspension is very good and you don't feel anything inside the car against the experience in figo where the car jumps.
the ground clearence is superb which does not strike any stone or speed braker,it is apt for indian roads.

      Final Words

THe best hatch ever made. The rear shape of the car might look aukward to some but it gives more milege and pickup compared to other cars in the segment.i have driven my ritz diesel for 5 years now and covered 1.74lk kms in all the terrains, plains, hills, desert and slugg also. It is the best car i hav eever driven. People can buy this car confidently and drive it for 3lk kms without any tension.

      Areas of improvement

A/C feels little underpowered coz of the big interior,it can be made more powerful.

Recently I heard that MS is going to discontinue the production of its Rirz model. I was surprised at the move . I own a Ritz VDI for the past 1 year and 9 months and have done 17,700 kms . I find it to  be an ideal car for a small family both for city as well as for high way dirve. I give here my experience with the car.

This hatch back has a unique shape with a beautiful front and side views. But many do not like the rear side but I do not mind. The tall built and high seats are most suitable for senior citizens, people with back problems and tall people for boarding as well as alighing. The drivers seat gives a good view of the front and rear (through RVM) road and sides without any hindrance. Both on the city road and high ways it gives a smooth and hussle free drive.

Most of the days I commute a distance of 25 kms one way. Once on the road I shift the gear to 4 or 5 as soon as possible and  avoid raising.Generally maintain a  speed between 40 -60 km/hr and the rpm not more that 2000 but mostly at 1500. This is possible only on a road which is not  very busy and without much elevationa and turnings. With this  manner  of driving,  I get a reading of 30kms/litre by the time I cover 6-8 kms from my starting point. I continue to maintain this average  by constant speed and the rpm. And when I reach my distination, the trip aveage remains  at 30km/litre. If the gauge had a higher limit, I believe it would have shown a  still better trip average. Here I must emphsize that it is without AC. With AC I get about 23- 25 km/ litre. But one cannot predict the average one gets on the city road because of the unpredicatable nature of the traffic and blocks. But still I can vouch that I get better average than all the cars I have used ( 8 cars) so far from 1976.

Another advantage of this car I noticed was with 75 ps at 4000 rpm along with 190 torque at 2000 rpm facilitates one to over take other vehicles with confidence when required. It also enables to speed up when necessary with out any problem. The 60/40 split  in the rear seat is a blessings to carry extra baggage.

I have enjoyed driving it and people who have travelled with me in the car also have nothing to complain about the space. comfort, seating, AC etc. The high roof actully avoids a claustrophobic feeling one gets in some other  cars.

Some minor cons I have noticed were , Maruti could have provided bottle holders on the rear doors, the quality of the door mats  is very poor. The company may try to redesign the rear side and relaunch the same vehicle to attract the consumers. With a better marketing strategy and sales promotion Ritz witll become a hot selling cake in Maruti Suzuki's basket.

Tall built, high seats, view from dirver's seat, smooth drive, fuel economy, power , ACoccasional difficulty in putting into reverse gear, view of the rear side, bad floor mats

Had a lot of expectation from Ritz but was very disappointing to see a noisy diesel engine which was run abt 1000kms(Demo Car) and even the feel of the plastics used inside gave a very cheap feeling.
If you compare the i10 in its league feels much better while driving because of the Motorised power steering which works wonders....
would be tough for ritz to compete with the likes of i10,i20 and swift.
Good fuel economyBad styling, cheap plastics, noisy diesel engine.

People didnot like the swift design when launched, but gradually loved it with due course of time.Same will be the case for Ritz.People are going to love this car. Moreover swaift has been around for nearly 5 years and will have to go for a face uplift in near future whereas Ritz is afuturistic design and will be same for many years to come. A very good car and value for money combined with Maruti's low maintance cost as comapredto i10's, i20's(Both are over prised) ,Honda's and Skoda.

It is fun zipping around in Ritz and desel does not feel like disel any more

Very good fuel economy, style is futuristic stylePlatic could have been better than currently used

      Exterior

Going by the slew of cars we have in the Indian market, looks shouldn't really matter, but when you get a view of of the car for the first time, when you reach somewhere near the rear, you will definitely say - hey, where's the rest of this car??? But ofcourse, you won't say its a superb looking car at first sight (some say its a little ugly also), but give it some time, and you will definitely find this car rather cute and good to look at too. So it grows to become a rather good looking car, which is a very good thing.

      Interior (Features, Space & Comfort)

For starters, the hieght of this car is simply brilliant. Its superbly easy to get in and out of the Ritz, and tall people will simply love it. And in spite of the car being small to look at from the outside, every1 who has stepped in, find it incredibly roomy and spacious inside. The leg-room could have been better, but hey, its decent and better than other cars its size. A bit tight when you have 5 people sitting, but the spacious and airy cabin, completely makes you forget that. The AC is really good too and the driving console and dials are very easy on the eye (the fuel gauge should have been better though), and the rpm meter is positioned in a nice place giving it a racey look. The steering mounted stereo controls on the top-end makes it even more easy to use, an already easy stereo system, and the sound too is decent. The gear box is positioned simply brilliantly, which makes gear shifts an ease with the gear knob placed right where your hand would want it to be. Storage compartments are also many and placed at very ergonomic locations in the car. The car too is pretty comfortable except for the fact that it is a little stiff on bumpy roads with a little bit of the road noise creeping in. At high speeds, you can hear the wind hitting against your car, but you can't complain about that, due to its height. The interiors too are very subtle and welcoming, making you feel at ease in the airy cabin. One thing to note is the car does have a blind spot or 2 (and a rather small rear windshield), but then, that should encourage you to be a better driver, and not blame the car (because every car has its blind spots!!).

Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox

The car is very peppy for a 1.2 engine. It is very easy (and pretty fun) to drive in the city. Very! In the 4th and 5th gear however, the pick-up doesn't seem the same. As in it slacks down considerably, but this tuning has been done by the Maruti Suzuki fellows to return decent mileage figures. You will find the need to change to lower gears (especially on the highway) while overtaking, after which the car simply zips past your opponent. Basically, the car offers more than enough power for your city needs and sufficient power for the highway. But if your in the mood to race, you might as well go buy yourself a race car!!! Because this car, is no snail, but no cheetah either. The engine is a bit noisy though and gives a slight race car noise at higher revs. Fuel economy is nothing close to what Maruti claims(17-18 to a litre! in the city! ridiculous!!). It returns about 11-12 in the city and about 15 (to a litre, petrol) on the highway which is not great, but ok. The gearbox is nice and easy on the hands, but could have been a little smoother on the feel, just a little. The gear ratios also are well set, making this car a very good performer.

      Ride Quality & Handling

Ride quality is not something you can boast about in this car,but it is ok. It feels a bit bumpy on bad roads, and so the suspension could have been softer. The back seat also could have been better, but no complaints as it is good for city drives. The car has good handling and the breaks also are pretty effective for it. As i said earlier, it is very easy and fun to drive around. Steering the car into corners also is nice and for a car this tall, you feel nice and stable and safe even at high speeds. Only a few minor vibrations in the initial revs, with the ac on, but not a disturbing thing at all. On the whole, the car has a nice feel to it.

      Final Verdict

The guys who gave it the car of the year award, were far from being idiots. A very nice car and definitely the best buy in its class.

      Areas of improvement

An anti-glare mirror is required, slightly stiff ride, noise from the engine and noises that creep into the cabin (road noise, noise from the breaks and certain other sounds).

Height, very european looks, nice interiors, good pick upsuspension a bit stiff for bad roads, engine noise, road noise

Exteriors Look different from routine cars those ply on roads these days. let's say the style is different.

Interior (Features, Space & Comfort) Ritz is more roomier than rest of the cars in its segment. you can not compare this car to spacious SUVs and sedans. but i think it has got more space than i10, wagon-r, a-star. indica vista is also spacious but one simply can not compare a tata car with a maruti car.

Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox It has more power in terms of BHP and torque. so fun to drive on highways, especially in kokan-like area where there are lots of GHAT sections. performance does not decrease even if AC is on. my previous Wagon R had that problem.

Final Words best option for those who drive in city as well as on highways with family. Maruti should think of making alloy wheels as standard part on all models of ritz. people who are more than 5 foot and 6 inches tall should consider this car and not swift as ritz is more suitable for tall people.

looks different from other cars, spacious interiors, best drive in city as well as on highways, every car has some negatives. i decided to ignore this column

Very good car from Maruti, excellent space, decent interiors. Nice performance, excellent mileage.

Gives an SUV type feel in the car, for a small car this is spacious is what I mean (just for folks like Mr. Mohandas)

Maruti should work on providing some additional goodies like the audio system, seat covers etc.

Please see my posts for my experience with this car.

Excellent Car, nice space, good design, very responsive, Excellent Mileage, Gives an SUV type feelNothing much, less goodies compared to what hyundai gives
