Maruti RITZ pertol vxi is a decent offering in 4-5 lakh bracket within i10 kappaa, swift, uva , getz etc i liked the built and overall layout of the car. Engine is way superior and very fun to drive . Its techically very recent too. Ride is firm and hadles very well. Steering is accurate and is hassle free whether in traffic or on highways.
The only thing is that boot would have been better. But then considering the acctual application from home to office, then to shopping and other city uses i liked the car . Its cozy as sit with your wife or anyone personal. Rear seats are also good , visibility is good and boot ok for regular shopping. Rear visibility is a concern but you will learn it.
Rear may look awkward because the front is wide and tall but suddenly the rear disappears and looks small. At 4.6 lakhs for vxi i find it woth considering for its size, shape, space, engine ,weight, design etc.
This car is not any crossover or makeover its VAUXHAULL AGILA; GENERAL MOTORS CORPORATION. Its in its indian offering through suzuki because GM has certain stake in suzuki too. But this car is succesor of WAGON R because this same model was sold as OPEL AGILA . And its true that Wagon R does reflects when you look at Ritz.
Well , whatever it may be its good buy considering every aspects !!!
Well built , good economy, A new design.Boot space.

First of All, Let me be the 1st to write a review on Ritz Automatic VXI. Driven the car for 900 kms in 2 weeks as went on a highway journey 2nd week of pruchase.
My reason of selling my 15 months old Wagon R VXI (only 9400 kms) & buying AT. During a sports activity 4 months ago, I hurt my left leg & broke my ACL. Dr recommended knee surgery to replace broken ligament, which is not complicated but scary & I would have landed with cruches for a month & no driving for 3-6 months. Decided not to go for surgery. While driving during stop & go heavy traffic, my left knee used to get fatigue. Didn't preffered A Star as its too small for me, i10 AT (1.2 Kappa 2) model out of production, also mileage stories are horrible, i20 overpriced, Grand i10 again overpriced 5.7 lakhs ex. showroom for Sportz model, Brio too low for me, no boot space. Setteled for Ritz AT as got a good deal & discount more than 1.5 grand for a Display car, only 180 kms driven, warranty free service etc from Maruti authorized with accessories like Parking sensor, leather seats, foot mats, stereo with handsfree bluetooth, beadings, leather wrapped steeringwheel, central locking all worth 35,000/- free free free. Ok enough, here start the review.
Exterior Always a debate for Ritz. Either you like it or hate it. Personal opinion. I always liked it & with Facelift it has new Front Grill, New Fog lamp, Spoiler it has become better. No changes at side/rear profile. 😱
Interior (Features, Space & Comfort) Ritz is excellent for tall & fat people like me (5'11", 235 lbs), but...only till front seats. Moment I am in, Rear space is a compromise for tall people. Its ok for a person max 5'6". Under thigh support is amazing, seats gives you feeling as if it hugs you, comfortable for non-stop journey even for 300 kms. No issues for paxs rubbing their shoulders like in wagon R. Comfortable for 3 medium at back. Company provided Features: All 4 power windows, Tilt adjustible steering, ABS with EBD period. I feel its overpriced by atleast 50,000/- (6.2 lakhs ex. showroom Delhi). I expect atleast Body coloured & Electronic adjustible ORVMs, Body coloured handles, Keyless entry & company ftted stereo for this price. Ritz ZXI MT is 5.20 lakhs ex. showroom which also has Airbags, Alloys, Rear defogger & Wiper, Driver Seat adjustment. Thats the main reason for not so successful Ritz AT.
Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox Super Silent VVT Engine. No sound what so ever. Yes, it becomes audible it rev realy hard & RPM needle shoots above 3000. Killer K12 engine by Suzuki. AT transmission is a boon to drive in traffic situation. No delay or lag in AT transmission. You get a minimal feeling of upshift or downshift & let me explain how "You drive a manual car, upshift from 3rd to 4th or 4th to 3rd, & leave the clutch. You feel a slight jerk? That's it". Only 4 gear shift for AT, Believe me, I am still very happy as my injured left knee is happy & I drove 250 kms non stop. Still was fresh & active. Mileage. Never trusted mileage indicator or DTE system. Did a tank full to tank full same pump, same machine, same attendent. Completed 710 kms which includes 490 kms on under construction NH 8 full of diversions, 220 kms in extremly crowded Jaipur & Gurgaon city with 70% AC. Car consumed 40 liters of Petrol (710/40 = 17.75 kmpl), which is fantastic & better then company claimed 17.16 KMPL considering driving conditions & let me remind I never drove 60-70 kmph. I went till 100 as well. Mostly drove around 80 kmph.
Ride Quality & Handling Smooth ride, confident on pot holes, slight body roll due to tall boy design, stable at high speeds, doors close with a heavy thud sound, can drive with ease even in conjusted roads, parking sensor is a must to have to avoid crashes at the rear bumper. Can't expect anything better then in terms of ride quality & handling.
Final Words Ritz is most under rated car. I found it better then Swift in terms of Space, comfort & looks (Again as I said personal opinion). Wish Maruti either provide more features or shed price of Ritz AT by atleast 50,000 to see some numbers flowing for such a fantastic car.
Areas of improvement Maruti please Increase the rear leg space by atleast 20 mm & either reduce the price or provide more features. Also promote the car as there are no advertisements for an AT version seen. You will see the numbers for Ritz AT going high in sales.

To start this essay, may I remind you that I am from a very humble back ground. I was born in a Govt. hospital of North Calcutta and brought up in a very middle class family. When I look back to my childhood, it sometimes appears that the present segment of life (full of state of art gizmos, car and a 3BHK flat, rented though) is a dream rather than reality.
My present employer is none other that Govt. of India, who has been nurturing my growth (materially and otherwise – in all aspects). And under its aegis I earned everything (again, materially and otherwise) other than the legacy that I had as inheritance.
Recently, when I saw almost all my colleagues are buying new cars (mostly Honda City or its comparables), I wondered whatever may have happened to everyone. Ultimately it came into the fore that almost all first cars of ours are completing 15 years or so. Therefore, if we relocate on transfer, the “my dear” first car shall be redundant owing to India ’s national RTO norm.
After lot of discussion and quite some contemplation, I also decided for a new car. Honda City (or its comparables) is definitely gorgeous. No doubt among the peers, or otherwise, a car like this enhances one’s societal values. Not only that, it is a dream car to drive comfortably.
However, a few points came into fore while taking the final call :
Most of the colleagues are using Honda City as a speciality car (being used in special occasions), while regularly using the 1st car (Maruti 800 – nonA/c) for its easy maneuverability. When grilled, all of them said that parking in the main city is a trouble for Honda City, which is not for Maruti 800.
Almost at the same time, a news item caught my fancy. The boom in the car market in India is bolstered mainly by the hatchback. And in all segment of this, Maruti-Suzuki is the crowned king, so far as the market share is concerned. I am a typical Indian, who averts dreaming big.
In my rented premises, I can park only one car and one scooter.
I have been driving Maruti Omni for 14 years. And I hate negotiating the left back corner of my car in busy traffic, as this part of the car is farthest from my driving seat. (I have been subconsciously longing for a small car to drive through the hurling city traffic, due to this single reason). Many of my colleagues maintained that the same is true for Honda City also.
My personality (whatever it is) vis-à-vis Honda City reflects a “chauffer – car” relationship at the best. In the worst scenario, it may be a “cleaner – car“ one. As an owner, I shall never be able to flaunt a personality that goes seamlessly with that gorgeous 4 wheeler.
My family (i.e. my wife and daughter) is happy with a new car that would salvage them from sitting in the rear chamber of a bumpy van, that would force you to forget the word “comfort”. They do not have any fancy for a Sedan .
Put together, I zeroed in on 3 cars – Hyundai i10, Maruti Ritz and Maruti Swift, because Maruti and Hyundai are the two manufacturers, who could capture the sentiment of average Indians thanks to their omnipresent service centres.
Maruti Swift has already completed 5 years of its life in India . It is a good car, but there is nothing new about it. Hyundai i10 is the most favourite of mine among the three – but despite quite a few outstanding features, this car could not earn critical acclaims mainly due to space crunch in it. Maruti Ritz, already a superhit B segment hatchback in Europe in the name of “Splash”, is really a tall boy small car that brings fabulous freshness with slightly skewed exterior and huge cubic space in the interior. While a test drive, for a few kilometers, I concluded that THIS is my dream car. I became happier when my family members said that the ride was magnificent. They particularly enjoyed the smooth suspension, spacious interior and reasonably skewed look.
Here is the end of the story of my second car, which shall be delivered by end of this month. The colour shall be “pearl blue blaze” (to describe mineralogically, it is a deep grayish blue vitriol). I will get it fully loaded with accessories of matching colours and designs. Thanks for bearing with me. With n number of beautiful Sedans around, there was no point telling a detail story of acquiring an usual hatchback. Nevertheless, I felt like telling you about all aspect behind an extremely ordinary decision of mine. After all, the 2nd car is generally another extraordinary landmark of an ordinary life. Isn’t it?

I bought Ritz LXI blue blaze nearly 2 months back. I have covered 1800km, which includes two long drive (total 800km) and remaining in city (Bangalore). first Service done. Many people in carwale.com reviews are claiming to get 15kmpl under city riding condition, but I never got more than 11kmpl, I keep AC ON 30% of the time in city. Recently I covered 400km (280 km highway, 120 city), overall mileage was 15.5kmpl. AC was ON 40% of the time.
Driving comfort is very good, very smooth. very spacicous, Reverse gear is an issue. its very tight. i sometime feel that blind-spot is also an issue in this car. many time i could not figure out other car running at blind-spot.
I preferred to buy LXI version, because VXI does not offer much at the cost difference of 35K. you can get all the accessories in that cost.
Driving is very smooth, good head&leg room, powerfulmileage is 11kmpl in city, blind-spot is truly blindExterior/Styles

Exterior
Initially I dont like the rear view, but its just matter of time for my eyes to used to its back design. Other than that from front it looks like a long sedan and from side it looks like a SUV (Innova).
Interior (Features, Space & Comfort)
Excellent dual tone dashboard, central console is very comfortable for watching different signals and the position of techometer is just make it different from other car. Very comfortable seats, excellent leg room. I am 6' 3" tall, my dad is 6' 2", my younger brother is 6'0", my wife is 5'6" and my mom is 5'4", we all seat very comfortably in the car. Its very comfortable head room also. I have taken test drive of many cars but i dont feel so much of comforts what i am getting here when i am driving the car.
Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox
I have heard that diesel engine noise is the main drawback of this type of car. But after driving it for few thousand Kilometers I have to say that engine (diesel) of Ritz is just awesome. There is no sound at all and in traffic signals sometimes I turn the ignition key for starting the car and I found that its already on. Its amazing. I am getting 17 kmpl in city with AC on. I never run the car beyond 120 kmph and its very smooth in every speed range. Pickup is just like a fighter plane, u press the pedal and it will just take off. Woooooozzzzzzz.
One more thing, it has awesome gear function, sometimes you will feel that it has an automatic transmission. When ever you crossing a speed breaker or lowing down the speed by taking off your feet from the throttle and putting it on the brake and if your gear is in 2nd or 3rd you dont need to press clutch, your vehicle will not give you any knock at all.
Ride Quality & Handling
I have driven my Ritz on worst road in west bengal but I am stunt becoz of its suspension. Its so vibration less so comfortable. I have driven 10-15 hatchback before purchasing Ritz but I have never seen such a good power steering. When ever you drive this car you will feel that you are just controlling a motor cycle. Its so smooth and zippy regarding control.
Final Words
I did not take a test drive of Jaaz, Fabia and Polo, so I cant compare with them. But other than these three i can definitely say that this is THE BEST CAR.
Areas of improvement
There must be a Zdi version with rear defogger, rear wiper , in built music system, steering controls, ABS and Airbags.
Looks, pick up, mileage, leg room and head room, control, suspensionDont have a rear wipper, rear defogger, AC in high speed fan mode is little bit noisy.
