Exterior: The styling is the least appealing aspect of Ritz. Also it is a bit too high than really necessary for either space or comfort.
Interior (Features, Space & Comfort): Interior is spacious and this is a big plus. Senior citizens can get in and out with ease. The features including instrumentation are bare minimum. Nothing extraordinary. No cup holders. The tachometer doesn't help enhance VFM. On this front Maruti is never known to be generous. The driving comfort is good but nowhere near i20. The JVC music syst I got fitted extra from Maruti (MGA) has a blue tooth capability but one must pay extra to have it activated. In Figo Titanium the music system comes with blue tooth activated.
Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox: Engine performance is good. The engine is very smooth and quiet, so much so that a couple of times I turned the starter on even when the engine was already idling. I got 16.5 km/l on long drive that included a 4 lane highway, turning and twisting ghat section and poor quality narrow road where I could not go beyond 60 kph. For nearly 8 hours out of the 10 hour drive the A/C was on. So, all in all the average was not bad I suppose.
Ride Quality & Handling: The ride quality is ok but due to its tall stance perhaps the handling can be tricky somewhat esp at high speeds on highway.
Final words: I bought this car in October 2009 and I am reasonably happy. However, had there been a k series engine 1200 cc Swift available then or may be a Figo Titanium, I wouldn't have gone for Ritz. I had liked i20 a great deal but regrettably it was out of my budget and Hyundai were not prepared to consider any discount either.
Areas of improvement: Maruti must realise that the competition is heating up in the premium hatch segment and must endeavour to give more features for greater value for money. The 'Maruti' name alone and the sales and ASS associated with it may not be good enough in the times to come.
Good fuel economy, Comfortable, Esp Good for Senior Citizens, Maruti's ASS.Looks, Handling on highway.

Hi all,
It was a tough choice to decide between swift and ritz for me. Almost for the last 1 or 2 years it was swift all over my mind. But however I see plenty of swifts every day and wanted something new which did not compromise on efficiency.
So my choice Ritz. Though the rear was not as attractive initially but seeing few times made me feel its some thing new.

Ride Quality & Handling
Ritz has straightline stability and roadholding. Softer suspension: a sense of control, at any speed. The Ritz’s steering feels linear, precise and shows how electric steering (EPS) has dramatically improved.

Exterior I'm 6'2" and use an innova for long drives. For within city rides, I share a Santro with my dad who is 5'1". So, both tall boys. Surprising as it is, the Ritz is the ONLY car in this segment (premium hatch) suitable for tall people. bummer. So, I bought this pretty much because of lack of choice. The shape is kind of growing on me.
Interior (Features, Space & Comfort) The legroom is surprisingly good. Getting in and out is easy (because of the height of the seats). with the front seat fully retracted to the back, there's hardly any room in the back, but then I don't need it. the tachometer on the dash is really cool. before this, i never even bothered to look at the tach, but now i find myself doing it everytime I shift gears.
Here's the bad part. the build quality is really Really REALLY cheap Cheap CHEAP. The car is two days old (really) and already rattles and hums like nobody's business. call for a test drive and check this out - open the trunk and tap on the left and right bottom side walls, you'll know what i mean. they have two small cover/doors there for access to the shocks. open the cover, the plastic is not even 2mm thick. the tool bags are loosely thrown in the trunk - no place to secure them. wtf? that rattles like there's no tomorrow. the A column (on which the seat belts hang) rattles on both sides. there's a drawer below the front passenger seat. it's a surprise feature, apparently. guest what, it rattles. in short, you sit in this car and the whole world rattles. and my ICE (audio system or In Car Entertainment) isn't even installed yet. thanks to this, i'm now an expert (in theory, at least) in sound deadening. If you buy this car, you HAVE TO deaden it. that's going to cost 20-30k easy. so add that to the cost.
Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox Now this is the good part. you take care of the rattles described above and you're all set. the engine is super. the gears shift so sweetly it's a pleasure to shift. I've read really good reviews about this engine too. I think it's a fiat engine.
I've had trouble pulling up moderate inclines in 2nd gear but guess this will get better with time (the car is only 2 days old).
Ride Quality & Handling The rattle really messes the whote thing up, but if you sound deaden the car, the ride quality will be quite good. it's a tall car so don't hang tight corners and u-turns at 60kmph, but the handling is pretty good. the steering feels quite light. i haven't driven her over 60kmph yet.
Final Words I don't know - if you are a tall guy/girl looking for a premium diesel hatch, you got no other choice. if you are open to other cars, fiat punto, vw polo and skoda fabia are much better built. hyundai i20 and toyota liva are crap. american cars seem like value-for-money but they really are not. in cheapness of build, they'll put even the ritz to shame. swift looks better but ritz has a better engine.
Areas of improvement Plastics, brother. take care of the vibrations, rattle and loose sounds. use thicker metal on the body and you'll have a real winner.

i was looking for a car since June 09, i was looking for safety (ABS minimum), comfort (easy to get in for my elder parents - comfortable sitting for 5), practical ( driving - rear visibilty, while parking), a budget close to 5 lakhs/ half a million, & fuel average, in that order.
After test drives with Jazz, Ritz petrol, & i10. i finally settled for Ritz Zxi & i feel satisfied today - i have a great car.
It runs smoothly in city at 3rd & 4th gears, i need to go down to 2nd only when i stop at red lights, the air conditioner, the steering mounted music controls are the best.
The only thing i was expecting an average of around 20 kmpl, but i am getting 13-14 only. the company promised 17.7 kmpl. But with frequent AC use / bigger tyres as compared to those on Vxi / Lxi; city driving on narrow lanes, i believe its a great.
finally one day i read that its front grills / facade bears a semblance with Audi, one of my most revered cars - that day i thanked the god to have fulfilled my dream so soon.
thanks
a great car that's all i can say, i had it on 31 aug 09 - & i am overwhelmed every time i drive.the only worrying thing is its average, mine being Zxi with biggertyres runs 13-14 kmpl

Exterior
Look wise the car looks great from the side, the rear is new and refreshing which I consider is the best part to look at many people may think differently because they have not seen it properly.
Interior (Features, Space & Comfort)
Space is the positive side of this car, when you get into the car you get the feeling of big SUV like Innova , as the tyres are big the driving is very smooth and comfortable you can go long distance withouy any problem
Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox
This is positive side of the car, the KB series engine will give sleepless nights to its competitors as the performance is brilliant with fuel economy of 21-22 kmpl(petrol) while driving long distance (practically tested) which is great for a 1200 cc car
Ride Quality & Handling
Gives you the feeling of a SUV as it has a big dash board and bigger tyres
Final Words
Overall car is best to purchase as now every one wants a "tallboy" car as its comfortable for the driver and all others sitting into it with Very Good fuel economy ultimately saving money for some more drives.
Areas of improvement
The body gauge has to be improved.
