Bought last Friday, done 300 Kms during weekend in Gurgaon Delhi. Results

Average 9.3 KMPL (50% on Delhi Gurgaon road, 50% incity -Delhi/Gurgaon). I try to keep engine RPM below 2000 by frequently shifting gear. This make drive as smooth as honda and good mileage

Superb feeling of control; Car responds to your command immediately. Super stability; feels like wheels are embedded on road without sacrificing smoothness

Only big drawback is lack of power which is accentuated in 2nd gear or negotiating a climb.

CRV vs. Vitara : Buy Vitara if

If fast acceleration is not very important and one can live with low power (and I am one of those)

Luxury Interiors (Beige Leather) is not a MUST have

Diff of 4 Lakhs is significant for you

Overall : I am glad I bought Vitara

After clocking 11800 kms on the GV, I have had a mixed experience that leans more towards the positive. While rattles crept in at an early stage, they have remained similar to when it was 2 months old. The steering used to pull excessively to the left, but its now a thing of the past after some good service. I recently took if off road and its here that the GV comes into its own. Compared to the likes of the CRV, the off road capability as well as its ability to take a beating is far superior. Everything works the way it was meant to and while at times you may crave for a little more power, its reasonable for most stuff you throw at it. Overall if you are not too perturbed about the lack of a plush ride and want to do what this machine it best at, you should be happy with the money you spend.Contemporary Design aspects, Maruti Service, Off road performanceInterior Plastics, Luggage Space, Single CD player

The problem with Indians is that when we think of buying a car the first name that pops into our mind is Maruti. No fault of the company though, they have mastered the art of making a fool of us in their 35 years of existence. Believe me, Im no exception, cause when i shell out 20 lacs, i think bout after sales service and i fall for the web made by the spidey name maruti. In an age where there are so many car companies introducing SUV's full of features in the market for almost the same price, GV disappoints on many fronts. A few to mention are no motorised side view mirrors, cruise control, paddle shift, ESP, parking sensors, and in addition they give just 4 forward gears in AT version.

The spare parts is a major problem for GV. For a part as small as a switch, they take days to make it available. Even for small problems, the Maruti service center takes 2 days minimum for the spares to be made available, even if they have to get it from their warehouse in gurgaon.

Recently i had a shocking problem, which i never faced in other cars i've owned till now. During the regular service it was found that the fan belt is totally damaged, that too after just 6 months of driving and absolutely no off-roading. The service center took 2 days just to make the new fan belt available, and on the third day they finally installed it. The story does'nt end here, just after this repair, i took the car out of station and on the highway and the car just stopped. Somehow the car was towed to the nearest service station, and on investigation it was found that the new fan belt was shredded into pieces, and those small pieces damaged the sensors and caused other internal damage. It took maruti 2 days again to arrange for the fan belt and other equipment necessary to bring the car back on its feet. Other than this, the instantaneous fuel mileage indicator (a part of multi information display in speedometer) started malfunctioning just after a month of purchase.

Believe me its not a good experience to have after spending so much on a car. If you think we should go for an SUV manufactured by suzuki just because their spare parts are cheaper, then let me inform you that all the spare parts of GV are as costly as made available by other SUV manufacturers in India.

Talking bout the features, no doubt when u buying a costly SUV, there ought to be something in the car. GV has a gud music system, nice engine, climate control. But compare the car to SUV available within the same price range such as Mitsubishi Outlander 2.4 and u'll notice the difference. They make available almost every nitty-gritty possible in the same price.

Personally speaking, I don't think Maruti has enough expertise in servicing GV2009 which has been directly imported by Suzuki and spare parts is a major problem.

Atlast i would just like to say that GV 2009 has been a real big disappointment to me. After reading my review, if ur still thinking of going for GV 2009, then be my guest. I can only lend you a shoulder to cry on after your big purchase and a month or two of satisfaction. You can go for better SUV's at almost the same price by Toyota (Fortuner) and till now my favorite Mitsubishi Outlander.

Im open to any queries on GV 2009.

Have a nice time, and do some research before your big purchase.

      O please...go through the brochure...u'll like a few...but not worth 20 lakhs.Too many to mention here....read the review...Im narrating this after owning GV2009 for 6 months now

Well its been a while since I got myself a GV. my Vitara is 2.0 l with 120 hp, pretty decent but lack of power shows up in the traffic as you need to downshift all the time for more power. anyways once you get to know the proper way of driving this car ull love it, it almost drives like a saloon as corners cutting is perfect for a car like this

Engine performance Good but coud have been better and I guess they have solved it by introducing the 2.4l engine.

If you compare this car to crv then I must say GV is a better buy as its cheaper, better looking (Personal view), drives well. My vitara gives an average if 9.5 km/l in city and 12 km/l on highways

Ride Quality & Handling Truly amazing and ull be astonished by the way it handles when off roading,. its a true and harcore offroader..trust me.

Final Words Good car for people looking to buy a crv but havent driven vitara. Excellent compact SUv.

Good all rounder, good compact suv and amazing to look atwant the disel version and the v6 version too

Exterior One of the best looking SUV on road.

Interior (Features, Space & Comfort) Very comfortable with decent interiors, Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox- Very good, its a treat to drive in city as well as on highways, fuel efficiency is not bad gives 9 on default 4 WD  which is almost equal to civic/carolla so no complaints, gear box is little hard though.

Ride Quality & Handling Excellent performance, specially the road grip and control makes it a very sturdy drive on default 4 W D.

Final Words I am a very happy Vitara buyer, every ride in this is a pleasure , its very sturdy, powerful, good torque, 4WD with preety decent exterior and interior.a real value for money.

Areas of improvement Back parking sensors, 6 CD changer. Have driven 10,000 + KM almost all the highways around Delhi, gurgaon, this machine is really mean and fun to drive, very sturdy, solid grip on road, at 100-120 the kind a power but with complete control you will feel in this vechicle is something  I haven't experienced in any Indian car, doing 150 or more is not a problem for this and with default 4WD this car is in absolute control at high speeds. even for race enthusiastic this small beast (its much compect and nicely packed than endeavor or fortuner for that matter) will not disappoint anyone, very good torque at 3rd and 4th gear makes overtaking really easy (most cars have this lack of extra push specially while overtaking). breaking is also very good, its real treat on hills with 4WD in full action. A true vaule for your money, and a thrill to hold in your hand.

sturdy with solid Grip and control,4 by 4, comfortable cabin,9 KM/l which isn't badunavailable back sensor, electronic side mirror open/close

I have bought the car 4 months back and have driven 8000km. The car usually runs in delhi and once a week runs on delhi Gurgaon highway. The car is comfortable and very stable on road. The average on petrol in its segment is very good considering the weight of the car. I am able to get 10.5km/l which i feel is good. I am overall very satisfied with the overall performace.
