I am the first one to own an ERTIGA Zdi in TRIVANDRUM,Kerala. So far I have clocked 650km including city & highway trips. Here are my honest views about ERTIGA- Exterior looks like a blend of SWIFT & RITZ. But I really don't like way it looks from the front. It is neither an MPV or an SUV, ERTIGA is a FAMILY UTILITY CAR.(I still don't buy to the nomenclature of MARUTI as LUV) Just 2 feet longer than the SWIFT, ERTIGA can easily accomodate 7adults with reasonable comfort, as the front & middle rows can be slided according to the comfort of the passengers seated. With 7 passengers, the car could cruise at 90km/hr at ease. There is a turbo lag which was evident in low revs but that fades off once you touch 1700rpm and above. The best acceleration is achieved above 2000rpm. Power delivery is smooth, body roll is minimal(despite a higher ground clearance & higher centre of gravity). Thanks to the tweaked suspension, even the 3rd row passengers are seated comfortably, without any back ache or body roll. The driver seat with height adjuster is really good & it gives a better riding position for 6footers like me. I could register an average of 17.10km/ltr in combined driving(city & high way). The best avg is delivered at a speed of 70km/hr in overdrive. You will realise the improvement in quality to a great degree(unlike previous MARUTI cars)- right from the quality of switch gear, seat belts(height adjustable),brakes work well with ABS & EBD & an ultra light steering wheel. An excellent stereo system that delivers good sound(less noise).Even the A/C is powerful enough to cool the entire cabin. The drawbacks are Lack of luggage space, difficulty in alighting from 3rd row for elders & lack of a touch screen system in Zdi. Overall it is a packaging miracle for MARUTI, which will allow an average extended Indian family to be together in a comfortable monocoque like this. Finally I feel that the pricing could have been better if they had only two variants Vdi for 8.40Lakhs & about 9lakhs(on the road) for Zdi.
Most of those people who give negative reviews about the ERTIGA have not owned one. I understand that they are more oriented towards performance. Don't just go by what people say, experience your self. My only advice to prospective buyers, Never decide on a car by expert review or books, please touch, try & feel it for yourself.

Exterior front portion resembles ritz with headlight of swift.back similar to innova.tail lights not upto the price.shape similar to innova but much smaller dimensions.
Interior (Features, Space & Comfort) same as swift, desire.biege steering wheel looks cheap.should have used black.middle row seats and back seats thin.less cup holders and storage bin
Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox potrol lacks top end performance.better is diesel.but dont have enough pulling power compared to other muv
Ride Quality & Handling less body roll, but suspension set up not plush.passengers can feel the road irregularities.
Final Words for a price tag of nearly 8 lakhs for diesel ldi its not worth.u can get a xylo for this price.xylo is more spacoius than ertiga and a value for money proposition.good for people who dont want a proper 7 seater but can waste their money for something with lesss space, less equipment but is easy to drive in city.nothing much.
Areas of improvement price.should have been much less.it might have been worth with a price tag of 6.5lakh for diesel.all parts used are from other maruti range of cars.so company could have easily sold it for much less price.maruti thinks that they can sell any thing with any price tag they want.if u want a value for money vehicle go for xylo or even bolero which have more space, power and strong built.

Exterior Did go for White color, although need to keep it clean, but it looks grand in white color.
Interior (Features, Space & Comfort) Its super smooth to drive it. The second row seating is comfortable too. But one needs to adjust the seats for seating in the 3rd row. But all said n done, it a dream to drive in CNG and not to forget in Petrol mode too.
Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox Was worried abt the pickup issue that was raised. But that is not a big worry. The vehicle does by default start in Petrol Mode, but then after a few meters it does automatically convert back in CNG mode. Yet to test the Mileage in Petrol, but did give me Rs 2 per KM in CNG mode. then after a few meters it does automatically convert back in CNG mode.
Ride Quality & Handling Conversion from Petrol to CNG mode (Automated) and the doors get locked automatically within 10sec of drive.
Final Words : Really happy with the performance it gave in the Express Highway (Pune - Mumbai). Did drive 400kms on CNG itself.
Areas of improvement They should have given Rear Wiper in VXI model as there are only 2 models in CNG - LXI and VIX ighway (Pune - Mumbai). Did drive 400kms on CNG itself.
Great Fuel Economy - Rs 2 per KM in CNG modeThey should have given Rear Wiper in VXI modelExterior/Styles

Exterior In first look it looks like a compact SUV but definetly stylish
Interior (Features, Space & Comfort) The moment you sit inside you will feel its the maruti dzire.from steering to dashboard everything is DZIRED.But the comfort level is much better specially for first and second row seating. And the best part is that you can create space in second row which is not possible in anyother SUV/MUV. So you dont have to depend on front seat for extra leg room
Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox When you look at the specs on paper definetly it feels underpowered in comparison to XYLO and mighty INNOVA.but when you drive it it doesnt feel so.As in terms of BHP its same as XYLO with better engine in terms of maintenance and life. And almost double mileage then INNOVA.Gearbox is smooth like other maruti diesel engines.
Ride Quality & Handling NA

Areas of improvement Better luggage space can be expected.with improved suspension and few modern features like arm rest for front seat, better dashboard, parking sensors.

Spacing: 4/5
Drivablity: 4/5
Amenities: 3/5
Power: 4/5
Mileage: 5/5
Overall: 5/5
Model bought: Ertiga CNG VXI
Pros: Excellent mileage, spacing, practicality, dual AC vent, leg room, easy drivablity, compact dimensions to suit city needs.
Cons: Rear wiper, Third row seat neck rest, steering mounted controls, ABS ,headlights
Issues: Air cutting noise above 80km/hr speed
Detailed review:
Spacing:
Phenomenal amount of work have been fone by Maruti to create such a compact car to serve every need of the customer. Even with CNG maruti has fitted the tank in such a way that their has been no compromise with the third seat. I must say that third row seat is pretty much comfortable for average individual for short distances. With all the seats occupied Eritga has almost no boot space due to CNG tank but when third row seat folded it give more space than a normal sedan.
Drivablity:
Its just as good as driving a sedan. Very comfortable seating with great visiblity. It has good ground clearance backed by great suspension absorbs almost all the city bumps.
Pick up is little slow when the car starts in CNG but once it reaches 20kmhr the drive is absolutely smooth.
Switching from petrol to cng is very smooth without any time lag.
Only two concerns:
One is when you drive on expressway when the speed crosses 80kmhr there is a wierd air cutting noise which keeps increasing with speed. Even service stations are not able to resolve this.
Second is without ABS it is little dangerous to drice beyond 100kmhr
Apart from these two the car is fantastic to drive and almost zero engine noise inside the cabin.
Amenities:
Music system, power windows, central locking, key less entry, dual AC vent
What it lacks is steering mounted controls which are a kind of must have features in today's world.
Dual AC vent is good for cooling during morning and evening drives but for a proper after noon drive say above 40degree it cannot cool the cabin to a great extent. But still is managable.
Power:
Power is just enough to carry 7 passenger and have a comfortable ride. It lacks initial pickup with cng but it is quiet managable by shifting gears to lower levels. Rest car never let you feels a rational driver powerless. Excellent
Mileage:
Here is the place where Ertiga is miles ahead when compared to its competitors. With cng option it easily delivers 12-14km per kg in city traffic with AC and 20-22km per kg on highway. With cng price at ~40 rs per kg it arrives to roughly 2Rs per km or even lower. Driving becomes very economical with Ertiga. I guess cng option is the best compliment which maruti has given this car to make it a very attractive option for people who have cng infrastructure in place.
Overall:
Ertiga is best option for a person who wish to have option occansional 7 people or For a five seater with huge boot space. Its cost of driving is so low with cng that it makes overall ownership cost very less when conpared to petrol or diesel models. Lack some of the basic features but when compared to the overall package which comes at this price this is the most compelling option one can ever have.

Exterior Looks decent and well designed to drive in the city. It doesn't mean that it is not good at highways. It well suits highways too.
Interior (Features, Space & Comfort) 1st 2 rows are having great space and comfort and i really felt 3rd row doesn't have that much space but it is sufficient. I had a ride with full quota of 7 peoples inside in both highways and city. I found it s good @ both. I am owning a Zxi make for 1 and half month and it gives me good feel.
Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox Engine has good power to pull 7 peoples with decent speed. I crossed 800 kms till now and i felt it has good power and nice transformations. It gives me a milage of 13kms in Chennai City and 16kmpl at highways. It is much much better milage as compared to some of the hatchbacks.
Ride Quality & Handling As i said earlier i crossed 800kms till now and it has great value for money. I enjoyed every moment while driving this excellent LUV.( Its worth to call it as Life utility Vechicle ,LUV)
Final Words I seen some of the comments here. lot of peoples comparing Ertiga with other SUVs and said it is not worth buying it. But Why dont you peoples compared it with some seden class & premium hatchback cars. i found lots of top end model premium hatchbacks and lower end seden class cars which are having same price as compared to Ertiga. If u just look at that , You feel Ertiga better option.
Areas of improvement 3rd Row Seating arrangements can be improved. It will never bring down its value because we will not drive full quota of peoples everyday.
Have all features for a family & safe drivingNothing

I just received my Maruti ZDI after a lot of wait and agitation with Maruti. Anyways I had booked White ZDI but had to compromise for Silky silver. Its a good color and not a bad option of only changing color but getting the ZDI variant(considering many had to switch from ZDI to VDI).
I have no complaints against Maruti officials who have been really helpful. I just think dealers will be dealers and never improve.
I selected Ertiga as there is no car in Sedan or UV segment under Rs. 10-11 lakhs matching the features of Ertiga. I evaluated Hyundai Verna, Sunny Nissan, Toyota Etios, Mahindra Xylo, Skoda Rapid also (as I had got tired of waiting in interim period from booking till delivery). Only Nissan Sunny came close as it matches nearly everything that Ertiga has (but After sales service was a big sore point and it was a 5 seater). I liked Mahindra Xylo personally in MUV segment but mileage of 10-11 kms and ride quality ruled it out. Its inflation time and need to keep fuel cost low.
Ertiga has everything going for it
· Twin AC,
· Adjustable rear head rest (important for chauffeur driven car- missed in Toyota Etios),
· Mileage (better than Xylo),
· ABS/ Airbags,
· 7 seats,
· Rear wiper,
· Amazing space between head and car roof, etc.
So far I have got mileage of 13.67 kpl (after first full fuel tank). This is in peak Mumbai traffic where distance of my home to office of 38kms takes two hours daily. Twice I have taken my different families out on short trip and they been very comfortable (all three rows occupied- six adults and one child on both occasions). No complaints of any space crunch. In fact in last row 2 avg size adults and small kid can sit comfortably. AC has been really good so far (actual results can be known earliest in Mumbai October heat). Ride quality in driver seat and front seat is amazing.
Only concern is ride quality in middle row which is bouncy on highways at a speed. To stay firm I have to put on Seat belts.
I installed MGA like seat cover, sun film, mats etc as a token of appreciation to dealer Spectra Motors Thane for delivering the ZDI (though after a long fight). But they messed up even in that. On Day 1 they didn’t install Sun film and the seat covers weren’t cleaned with stain marks on it. Had to do 2 rounds of the dealership only for accessories. I had previous bad service experience with Spectra Motors for another Maruti car of mine my wife owned (this was post booking of Ertiga though). Hope Maruti Suzuki is listening somewhere and makes effort to improve Dealer service.
I hadn’t got the audio system remote control and during delivery TL / Branch Mgr of Spectra Motors lied to me that remote control for audio system doesn’t come. I came across an article accidentally on a forum and saw the image of remote control for Ertiga ZDI. I then checked with other dealers of Maruti Suzuki and people on social media and auto forums. They all confirmed that you get remote control with Ertiga ZDI. It was a horrifying experience as even after confronting them they continued to deny remote control comes with audio system. I finally got a remote and guess it was of test drive vehicle.
I swear never to go to Spectra Motors again and recommend everyone to avoid Spectra Motors.
To sum up there is no better Car/ LUV in sub 10-12 lac segment than Maruti Suzuki Ertiga. One has to patiently fight it out with dealer/ company to get timely delivery of the car and scratch your head to find a good dealer/ASS (thankfully in Maruti there are some good ASS).
Will post more reviews once I do more kms and use the car more.

After owning a SX4 for many years, I decided to look for an additional car with the primary aim of seating my 6 member family in relative comfort. The usual suspects came to mind - Innova, Mobilio, XUV500, Aria and such. Next was to visit the showrooms of each manufacturer and do a detailed test drive. I visited the Tata showroom and after waiting for some 20 mins, a sales person took me over the Aria features and such. Unfortunately I found the Aria a tad out of my budget (same with Innova) and decided against a test drive. Next was the Mahindra XUV 500. While the exteriors are super, the interiors are distinctly down market. The drive is average at best and all the gizmos do not make up for the poor handling and average fit and finish. To be fair, the XUV500 is a huge step up for Mahindra from their earlier generation vehicles, but I came away a little less than impressed. I tried the Honda Mobilio and found that to be an excellent car but for two issues - very average interiors and price (value for money). Finally saw the Eritga and found a car that best suited my needs. Flawless handling, great interiors, decent space (ideal combination for a regular city commuter and occasional full family seater), decent fuel economy and performance. The only down side I felt was perhaps better exteriors and more gizmos - but these were points I was more than willing to overlook and finally I went for the Maruti Ertiga. I added a few after market fitments such as reverse camera and GPS to fulfill my gadget desires. Its been a month now (800 kms) and I have absolutely no regrets with my choice.

Exterior I was fortunate enough to be invited to take a LOOK AT THE SUZUKI ERTIGA ONDISPLAY AT THE 2012 AUTO SHOW IN DELHI. HAD AN OPPORTUNITY TO SIT INSIDE AND GET A FEEL FOR THE SPACE AND TEXTURE OF THE CABIN MATERIALS. SO IT IS JUSTA LOOK AND FEEL NOTHING MORE. THE ERTIGA IS A GOOD LOOKER. VERY ATTRACTIVE. CUTE BUT NOT HAVE A FLIMY CHEAP LOOK OR FEEL. LOOKS MADE IN JAPAN. QUALITY OF MATERIALS IS GREAT. LOOKS MODERN AND VERY WELL FINISHED. NOT THE CHEAP LOOKS AND FEEL OF THE WAGON R, ALTO, ECCO. WELL PROPORTIONED EXTERIOR DIMENSIONS. UNLIKE THE RITZ OR DZIRE, NO AKWARD ANGLES OR SLOPES AND SLANTS.
Interior (Features, Space & Comfort) JAPANESE STYLE SPACE MANAGEMENT MEANS THERE IS A PLACE FOR EVERYTHING AND EVERTHING IS IN ITS PLACE. GREAT INTERIOR MATERIALS. BEIGE INTERIOR COLOR PRONE TO SOILING IN INDIA. I FEEL THE ERTIGA IS STRICTLY A 5 SEATER AND DEFINITELY NOT A 7 SEATER AS DESCRIBED BYTHE MARUTI REP AT THE AUTO SHOW STALL NO KIDS CAN SIT IN THE FOLD DOWM SEATS IN THE LUGGAGE AREA. GOOD REAR LEG SPACE.GOOD DRIVING POSTION EVEN FOR A TALLISH GUY LIKE ME. EXCELLENT ERGONOMICS. CONTROLS WITHIN EASY RREACH. LOTS OF GLASS MEANS GREAT ALL ROUND VISIBILITY. DECENT LUHHAGE SPACE FOR A 5 SEATER. THOUGH ITS HIGHER THAN MOST SEDANS ITS GOT A CAR LIKE FEEL, AND NOT THE TALL BOY, PERCHED HIGH BENCH SEATED BUS LIKE ALL OVER THE PLACE FEEL OF THE WAGON R OR SANTRO.
Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox ONLY GOT TO SIT INSIDE SO CANNOT COMMENT ON THESE MATTERS. HOWEVER I FEEL A 5 ADULTS AND THEIR BAGGAGE CARRYING MUV SHOULD HAVE A 1.6 L PETROL FOR GOOD DRIVEABILITY AND LONG DISTANCE CRUISING. SHOULD HAVE A AUTO TRANSMISSION OPTION. THERE WILL BE I AM CERTAIN A DEISEL AND CNG VARIANT.
Ride Quality & Handling CANNOT COMMENT. BUT SUZUKI CARS ARE SOFT AND COMFY.
Final Words ANYTHONG NEW FROM SUZUKI IS BIG NEWS IN INDIA.ANY MODEL FROM MARUTI SUZUKI IS A TRAILBLAZER AND A GUARANTEED SUCCESS. I THINK THE ERTIGA WILL NOT BE AN EXCEPTION IN THIS REGARD. MARUTI SUZUKI HAS A POTENTIAL WINNER ON THE BLOCK. IF PRICED BETWEEN RS 4.5 LACS AND 5.5 LACS ( BASE VARIANT WITH PS AND AC ) ONROAD THIS CAR WILL BE A SUPERHIT WITH INDIANS SUZUKI IS THE WORLD LEADER IN SMALL CARS. VW NEEDS SUZUKI MORE THAN SUZUKI NEEDS VW. EVEN WITH ALL THE COST CUTTING THIS CAR SHOULD BE A CERTAIN WINNER.
Areas of improvement IF ITS NOT TOO EXPENSIVE PLEASE USE A BIGGER ( WIDER ) INSIDE REAR VIEW MIRROR. AN AUTO OPTION WILL BE GREAT. WILL THIS CAR HAVE A DEISEL ENGINE AND CNG?
Smart and swanky looks. Japanese style space management. Good drving position. Good rear legroom.A mini MUV. 5 can be seated comfortably. Definitely not 7.1.2L engine will be underpowered.Exterior/Styles

Suzuki did its best to attract by pricing the entry level version at a low price but the middle version of the diesel variant ends up costing nearly Rs.10lakhs (on-road Hyd) and the mileage is less than 10kmpl!!! Instead, I would prefer purchasing an entry level diesel-variant Safari at the same cost and enjoy more leg room, luggage space, safety, and big SUV look at the same mileage! After driving it for a month or so, many would regret for purchaisng this vehicle instead of starting variants in Tata Safari, Xylo, Tavera, etc.
