Maruti Suzuki Ciaz is a perfect car that ticks all the requisite boxes for an Indian consumer - be it style, performance, space or value for money. I began my search in 2015 looking for an upgrade from my outgoing Hyundai Getz. The change was definitely due for a long time..really long time. The Getz experience naturally pushed my towards Hyundai, Elite i20 to be specific. Little did I know then that for a slight premium I could get my hands on a full-blown sedan with class leading space and features. In any case, staying with a hatchback would not really have been an upgrade per say. Though I wasn't a big fan of the rear design of Ciaz (subjective), there were no second thoughts after a test drive. There were no signs of sluggishness or drag considering the body size to engine displacement ratio. It still amazes me as to how Maruti Suzuki got the combinations right that wiped away any fears of under-powered delivery. Ciaz is a perfect blend of style, space, features and performance for the modest pricing that it carries. Airbags, steering-mounted controls, Bluetooth telephone, height adjustable driver seat, rear windscreen antenna, stylish headlamps, ample legroom, high ground clearance and a hell-of-a-boot-space..phew!!. It may not stand the test of refinement against the likes of Honda City or Hyundai Verna, but not everyone's a review or critic. For the majority of owners, a car is either a style statement or a medium to get from point A to B. In my close to 4 years of ownership I have tested my Ciaz to its limits by driving through multiple inter-state journeys and paved/ unpaved roads; never have it let me down. Some of the worthy mentions on a technical front would have to be the slick gear shifts, narrow A-pillars, linear acceleration and an assuring ABS braking system. These features keep the critic in me happy while the consumer enjoys the cosmetic beauty.
