Baleno Delta Diesel review, purchased on 28th January 2016, completed 4200kms.
Exterior It actually looks like luxurious/premium class hatchback. It’s bulky, lengthy, stylish & have great road presence. But sheet metal is very thin & flexible, plastic bumpers also. It get dent easily with small impact at low speed.
Interior (Features, Space & Comfort) No comparison in terms of space in its class, it’s really very specious & comfortable. Even it is specious than some sedans also. All 3 seats at rear get enough shoulder room & back rest; also we have travelled with 4 at rear seat comfortably without any trouble.
In terms of feature its very well equipped with all essential things. Music system is good, no need to upgrade speakers even no need to install woofers too. A/C is not that effective, it takes more time to get cool, it must have rear a/c vent as cabin is very big & lengthy. Also being a premium class it must equipped with cooled glow box.
Dashboard & trims plastic quality is not that good, its not suitable for tag line 'Premium Hatchback'. It looks poor & old once dashboard polish gets dry.
Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox Being swifts engine no need to say anything, its responsive, economical & durable. Expected 90PS Variable Geometry Turbo Engine, but overall its good enough for light weight (970kg) car. Engine & Gearbox is refined, smooth & responsive but little bit noisy. Little turbo lag is there below 1700-1800 rpm. It gives 20-22kmpl in city & 23-25kmpl on highway with 100-120kmph (both with a/c).
Ride Quality & Handling Handling & Drivability is excellent, effortless to drive. Steering is light weight & sensitive. No body roll even at high speed on sharp turns. Overall suspension is good but can be better. On highway it feels like seating in roller coaster, engine very responsive, touches 3 digit speed effortlessly in very short span of time. At 140-150 kmph also its very stable & smooth.
Final Words Overall its great value for money car. It have all that we all are looking for. Premium look, affordable, easy & effortless drive, comfortable for 5, equiped with all essential & safety features & mainly fuel economy.

Exterior Good no comments exterior it is very stylish and attractive chrome finished grills and handlers will take your observations.
Interior (Features, Space & Comfort) Some plastics could have been improved and rear ac vent could have been given more comfort to rear passengers.
Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox Engine could be 74ps powered feels little laggy. could have been 100ps. Now a days every car is coming with 90-100ps powered vehicles but i don't find any reason to be the old swift engine.
Ride Quality & Handling Steering wheel feedback needs to be improved very soon and you don't feel it is stable when you are at 140+kmph.
Final Word Steering Wheel feed back and engine power needs to be improved.
Areas of improvement Steering Wheel is not upto the mark, you cannot judge of the direction of movment of vehicle by handling steering wheel and you don't feel and driving plesure of this car. It will be very tough to ride on the ghats and in the city ride too.
Good Exteriors and Interiors, Attractive designSteering wheel is very lighter.Exterior/Styles

Exterior There is not to complain about exterior styling. for normal people the design elements looks taken from the premium brands like audi etc. However the top model gets some major tweaks about styling as the DRLS really go along with the front style and grill.
Interior (Features, Space & Comfort) Interior comfort is best in class. the cabin has good ergonomics and seating posture.
seating mounting controls are desent , however i have faced some issues with the bluetooth button. rest all is well.
the center consol is beautifully designed with nice silver inserts.
Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox Baleno shares its engine with its brother and sister. due to less weight of the car , the mileage and power felt is more.
Though I havent measured the mileage, the electronic meter shows the value of 17 KMPL in the city. taking the error of 2KMPL, ithink 15 is the best. This is for petrol.
Ride Quality & Handling Excellent.
Final Words If you are looking for value for money and high relaiblity then i think this is the only option with Honda Jazz highly overprized compared to the feature it offers and Hyundai I20 is also costly then this and have less mileage.
The top model gets some extra features like UV tint glass, Apple carplay, TFT screen in tachnometer and many more , which are only available in Baleno!
Areas of improvement Few ares like rear armrest missing, rear AC event. although if you are looking at the top model then there is nothing to complain about.

i took delivery on 8th Jan. I am feeling pretty hard while shifting gear. specially 3 gear and reverse.
mine 1st service also done. i have raised the problem to service center guy. after service the same prob continuous. i asked the service guy he said some made up stories abt gear safety which is not up to believe. few people took the ride, same comments i have receive.
is anyone owns the baleno plz drop ur comments.. very helpful for me
all other features are good except plastic quality ..should have improved bit quality wise. i checked the mileage in highway giving 20.5km/l.. not tried in city.
Ride Quality & Handling
Ride quality is literally good I tried it in bad roads and it gave proper contol as well. At high speed feels like not planted but overall good handling.
Exterior
Exterior is really really good. Presence on the road is felt easily. Rear side is best designed giving a bit coupe look.
Performance is overall good.
Fuel economy is 20 kmpl before first service

Exterior Great styling, looks good.
Interior (Features, Space & Comfort) Spacious Interiors, Decent boot space, excellent leg room.
Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox Engine performance good-though noted some bad/irregular welding near the exhaust manifold, Fuel economy has dropped after the 2nd service from 14-15 kmpl in the city to 11-13 now, both readings with the AC on & almost equivalent city driving conditions. Highway mileage 16kmpl. Gear Box good, no trubles so far in about 8 months of using.
Ride Quality & Handling Ride quality is atrocious, especially for rear seat passengers, all the jerks on the road transfer to the back of the rear seat passenger. A 100+ km journey on the highway means that the rear passenger will have a back ache and require a pain killer. Observed it in 3 different outings on 3 different highways. Even in local driving the smallest of speed breakers/ pothole can be felt by the rear seat passengers.
Complained about it to maruti through their service center MSM,Okhla & also by way of email. But the complaint has fallen on deaf years. One maruti service engineer (Avik Jindal) calls me to advise me to reduce the speed to 1okmph when approaching a pothole (even on the highway) after that one call he vanishes into thin air leaving me facing all jerks on the roads.
Final Words Good car but atrocious suspension & even more atrocious reply from the maruti engineer.

Exterior Exterior is pretty good but compare to Elite i20, Baleno is little bit downside to be told. However its not bad too as well.
Interior (Features, Space & Comfort) Full Black interior and superior features and meet the expectations of the customers.
Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox Engine is good as its already in Suzuki Swift.
Ride Quality & Handling Good Ride quality and well balanced suspensions.
Final Words For the cost of 8 laks, this is an affortable car for the middle class car users. Soft suspensions are really good and its easily managing in bumps as well. I need to alling with this baleno as I was using alto for couple of years. Music system is ok but not a good one as Tata Bold Harman music system. Sound quality is just meets the expectations. For music lovers, this music system will not be helpful. bluetooth and steering mounted controls are good and helpful too. I need to check further and will post again shortly.
Areas of improvement Nothing to be mentioned as of now.

Hi,
I am writing this review of the Baleno Delta CVT as it might help prospective buyers. Before making the decision I tried a host of AMT, DSG and CVT cars both small and big. Baleno has done a fabulous work on CVT transmission and it's butter smooth.
The car looks small outside but is exactly the size of dzire leaving enough space on front and rear seating. Though there is no Hill assist, managing on slopes are okay as the torque range is pretty good that holds the car from rolling back unless the incline is really steep. There is also a sports mode button for hill stretch drives but I do use it in the city as well to keep the Sprint peppy.
The tuning is amazing and the car does respond really well. Driving comfort is good and driver seating is good. Seats are comfy and Aircon and stereo controls are well within reach. The turning radius is slightly larger at 5.9m, more due to the wheelbase which is longer by 2mm. Downside is the MRF tyres that do give a rolling noise but that apart the NVH is pretty neat. Maruti could have opted to offer tyres that is one size larger and broader. My personal preference would have been an Apollo long range rubber.
Mileage in city is about 12kmpl and I am yet to test highway economy. Suspension are quite acceptable not too stiff not too soft. If you want a good automatic that's cheap but spacious and comfortable, look no further. The feature last is quite exhaustive with dual airbags, auto retractable orvms, gear lock systems, auto windows, auto climate control and a reasonable music system that you can pair your smart phone.
Rear seats are comfortable and entry and exit for aged People are good. Leg space and head space at the rear is acceptable by Indian standard for averagely built People at 5'9". Boot space at 330ltrs is fairly decent for a weekend drive and the 60:40 rear seat split is a plus. Ground clearance is decent for Bangalore roads. Option of rear disc brake on the premium hatch would definitely be a bonus, if maruti offers it. Before I conclude, the car can be serviced at any maruti service point and the NEXA experience is really wonderful.
To put it short, this car is a winner and absolutely a global model from Suzuki stable. I will update after 10k, till then happy driving. SN
