Exterior Beautiful font end styling and equaly ugly rear end.good overall dynamics.
Interior (Features, Space & Comfort) Great features at the price specially ABS EBD brake assist and SRS airbags, music system loud and clear sounds very good, Front seats are very good with nice support but rear seats quite flat and quite short in space boot is very smallshould have been 40:60 split seats, Nicely tuned suspension nicely balanced between comfortable ride and cornering.
Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox I love these three things of my car engine is peppy responsive good for city and does well in hilly areas too but nothing extraordinary on highway. Fuel economy is good overall its above 17 though it has given 24.6 on a trip. Gearbox is slick.though gearshift is not as smooth as i 10 's.
Ride Quality & Handling Ride quality is good and handling is nice!
Final Words Could ve been the perfect city car. But if u carry lots of luggage ,taller than average indian height and will travel 5 most of the time then its not for you.everything else is perfect.
Areas of improvement 60:40 split seats, properly designed back end of front seats to provide more leg room at rear.

Just visited the showroom today..... Could not believe what I saw. The car has literally no space in the rear nor in the boot. you can not expect a guy never to have a need of putting luggage behind even if he is a single. forget about the family. the car is big enough from outside but when you look inside, the space vanishes, a complete contrast to wagon R which looks small but has ample amount of space inside.
interioirs are lack luster and has no appeal to them. The Dash board is high and obstructs view. the windscreen is so inclined that it almost touches your face. the driver position is low and hence driving wud be a nightmare for shorter guys. when i sat in the rear seat my head almost touched the roof and i can certainly not wait for a bump while riding on the back seat. I am 5'11'' tall and this car is certainly not for me. the leg room is simply non existent... what will happen when i will slide my front seat back ??
however on the positive side the car has good milage... 17-18 in city. Its pick up is great and AC performs well. Maruti offers gud color choices for funky breeds :).
finally, buying this car wud be good for them who can afford the luxory of having a spors car type car, but for the family guys or the singles about to get married....this car is a big No NO.

Dear Friends,
Its my first car. When I had gone to showroom to see Maruti cars, I attracted towards A-star because of its look & front face design. Some of other customers had good experience of driving it. I took test drive & impressed of ride quality, pick-up, handling & interiors. I immediately booked A-Star LXi (Healing Green) & got delivery after a 10 days. My family, office mates & society members also liked the model & colour as its unique one.
I am satisfied with A-Star & happy to have taken decision of buying stylish, young looking & road star car, A-STAR. Regarding less rear space, it does not matter because we are nuclear family of 2 + 2 kids. Kids are comfortable in rear. Still we tried to accommodate 3 adults in rear - it was too easy no congestion. It space is same as it is in Alto, Beat, Spark, 800. One can not expect everything in hatchback. Most important it will have more resale value in future as compared to its competitors in its segment.
Stylish, Aerodynamic, Good Look, Fuel efficientLess rear space but its not matter of any concern

Hi I bought a cherry red astar vxi in august and I have covered over 4000 kms and this was an okay upgrade from my previous alto. ride quality and comfort and everything else about the car is good but the mileage is pathetic and attrocious. Being an old fashioned guy I did not cross over 60 kms and changed my gears at the recommended speeds untill over 3000 kms but now to my surprise I am getting a mileage of only 13.5 in the city with 60% usage of the ac. Having previously used an alto i had my trust in maruti but they have let me down and I am now starting to regret buying the car. cars with bigger and faster engines like the i10 1.2 or the swift and beat are giving more mileage than my astar. I dont know if anybody out here has faced this similar mileage problem with this car. with the high rise of fuel and the complete disappointment of maruti I am now contemplating of changing this car for another one. this car was purchased from khivraj motors at mount road in chennai. I would understand if I raced with the car or drove it like a maniac and screwed my engine but I have not and this is very disappointing and a complete regret.
Everything else about the car is good and a value for money excluding the mileage factor.
I hope that maruti stops cheating people by misrepresentation of facts. Please let me know if there's something that i should do about this.

Hi,
Guess what I just missed having the prefix "Late" to my name. By Late I mean death.
I purchased your car its been just a year, driven 3000 KMs yes 3000 and your tyre missed to BURST.I was gonna take this forward to my lawyer but I thought lets visit the showroom.
Now this is what happened:
1) They said they will get it replaced with 5 Days
2) 8 days later they say I opened the tire and hence this happened.
Now here is my question:
1) There is a lump a freaking lump on the tire which was about to burst, I missed death by an inch. You still want me to drive by that tire?
2) They say I did it? what did I do? The tire is in a freaking new condition with a lump on it. (The person who inspected it I think was a fool, get proper engineers to do the work).
I request you to take this matter seriously before I take strict action on this. My Car number is :MH02-CW-XXXX.

don't make me do something similar to you.
P.S. Right now I am marking only the people concerned after this this email will be circulated to most auto bloggers, other car manufacturers, car critics etc. You have 24 hours before I post his on the internet and send this to the consumer court. I have knowledge of what is a consumer defect and what is a manufacturing defect, I am educated unlike your GARAGE WALAS.

Richard.

I have been driving this car since few months now and have done a few thousand kms. The longest drive was from Mumbai to Bharuch, approximately 700 kms round trip. The car is commendable in performace and clearly beats some of the powerful sedans in pickup and speed. Overall, it's a great small car for city driving as well as ocassional weekend breaks. However, due to the small boot size, carrying large suitcases is not advisable.
Another area where the car scores is its interiors. The forward coming dashboard looks sporty and the integrated stereo CD player delivers great sound. The highlight of the car is Maruti's K10B engine (Kappa ka Baap). Being a three-cylinder engine, this one surely beats some of the four-cylinder engines on road. Maruti has also rolled in safety features such as Airbags and ABS, that even Toyota Innova does not provide at 10 lakhs.

i had purshased A-Star in January 2009 and since then my experience with the car is what can best be described as "complete satisfaction". The look of the car is the first thing that drew my attention. Unlike its cotemporaries i.e Santro, Wagon-R, Estillo,Spark, Getz etc. the driving experience of A-Star is simply great as the driving seat is not stiff as compared to the other cars in which the driver has to keep a straight back. Here one can sit in a relaxed maner and this is something which makes the drive a REAL LUXURY. So far as the other features are concerned it is equivalent t any other BIG THREE BOX CAR.
