I have driven my first car M800 AC BS III (Colour : Silky Silver) for 45 months and now as I have decided to change my car I felt that it is the best time to write something about the car !!!
Regarding my driving style I have tried all possible experiment with my M800 but generally I drive at around 60-75 KM/H
When I bought the car I fitted a lot of things on to it like a good music system (Sony Explode Cassate Player with Pioneer Speakers), Cig. Lighter (as I smoke very often), A good, light and sporty body graphics from Autographics, A Front Bumper Guard, Bumper Guards (Rubber) and all other things like steering covers, seat covers sunfilm etc.
I have also maintained the car in such a way that I got a more than expected resale value from Maruti True Value Itself.
I have driven around 23,600 Km's in 45 months and these are my observations :
Pros :
Overall the car is good, it give good milage, engine was also good and It performed all the period like a silent and efficient worker. I took it to several long drives even sometimes 600 Km's in a single day it has never objected in any means.
No spares needed to be changed by this period except filters and my right ORVM which was cracked in a small crash with the gate of my garrage while I was reversing the Car to my garrage.
The Battery lasted 43 months which was a Excide normal one supplied with the car, tyre got punctured around 7-8 times during this period.
I have a very small family of me, my wife and my little son so there was no space constraints.
Milage : I used to get around 13-14 kms in city and 18-18.5 km's in highway with AC on.
16-17 Km's in city and 20-20.5 Km's in highway when AC is off.
I am very carefull about expenses so I maintained a diary of fuel purchase and the Km's reading in a diary. So the figures are almost 90-95% correct.
Maintanance : 5 service was done from Maruti Service Center with minimal costs rather than routine lubricant and filter changes and two times break pad adjustments. Just on the last service on 24th Dec I have done flushing of engine.
Wheel balancing was required once only after first service as the steering was behaving abnormally above 60.
CONS :
Very less spacious, if occupients are more than three.
Head lights was not good enough for night driving in highways and as I drive in nights lot of times I have changed the bulbs (on the left side Mico 100/90 and right side Mico GOLD 100/90) and adjusted the focus by myself through the softdrinks bottle type bolts behind the headlights.)
I have also fitted two Fog Lamps on the Bumper Guard in a good position, welding a Grill strip between the two sticks of the bumper guard, otherwise if I was fitting above the guard where provisions were there it was looking very odd and was visible through windscreen
Used to hit every big speed breakers by the silencer.
Breakes are not at all good, I have adjusted their twice but compared to all other cars it is something like bycycle brakes.
Driver Sitting comfort is not there especially for your head rest and neck, as the head rest is fitted almost 8-10 inches from the head so you never get a head rest.
Finally its a good value for money car and what I have enjoyed in this ownership period that is problemless driving with excellent milage, some problems are their as it is the cheepest car available in the market but still I am very Happy.
I really enjoyed the ownership, Thanks to Maruti Udyog for This .....
I dont know people are still interested in buying M800 or not but I am writing this as I feel its a very good car for the people who have less budget and want value for money ......

This car I purchased in 2005-oct near 1.5yrs I was thinking that it will give the same mileage as other cars but was surprised with the performance .
Mileage which I am getting is 18kmpl to 19kmpl in city and 24kmpl to 25kmpl on highway without a/c with a/c less 1kmpl to 1.5kmpl in all.
Moreover the feel of owning 5-speed car is there no compromise in maruti performance and have touched 52000kms in the car and have no problem till date and the car is running very strong.
top speed touched in the car is 130km/hr which is dangerous as it loses its control after that because of its light weight but if someone is getting this car at the good value and for less driven condition then its a must buy for those who are having 2-wheelers.
good fuel economy, small car so no hassale of parking and best sellerless spacious, cheap plastics used which are not very pleasing

Hi Guys
I own a 2003 std (euro 2)model done 40000km. I keep the car for city use as I also own other cars. There was report of a milage test done by autocar guys of Ford Fiesta which prompted me to check milage of my good old maruti.I topped the tank and went out for an outing and travelled 130 km.There after I again topped up the tank and it consumed 5.1 liters of petrol. The average was 26 km/l.Come on Ford Fiesta beat it!
Again in Feb 2009 Now I have had this car for 6 years. Though i drive it occasionaly but I again drove it on a long drive(Delhi to Shimla) for a return distance of 911km.The observations are as under: No of occupents-4 Distance Travelled-911km Fule consumed -46 liters Average -19.80Km/L Top speed achieved on highway-115km/h Heater was on in Himachal Pradesh Who will beat itFule economyCramped,Less boot spaceExterior/Styles

i m using this car for over 7 yrs. trust me guys its the best car one can have in the begining. best value for monty. nil maintainence(of oils changed on time). it gives over 23kmpl on highways and 20 + in city.no other car can match this. spare parts are available all around. this is the most successful model and the most used cars in india so every mechanic knows how to repair it. and the best thing is that it is more spacious than wagon r.(front boot space) and more comfortable in sitting compared to santro and indica. it is a 'no problem car'. and 'a common man's' car too.
excellent car true value for money. good milage. nil maintanceits is an older model compared to other cars in the marketExterior/Styles

very very good fuel economy it gives the fuel economy of about 29 with ac & 33 without ac. i have made an alteration for this average but it really works. ihave fitted the carborater of hero honda splendor in maruti since 1997. i only service my car after 10000 kms. i have runned about 212354 kms. till date. i have a work of travelling & travelling journeys & iloved to travel with this car & sometimes i save money by sleeping in this car, it is like a ginger hotel. i suggest you to change your carborater with splendor.
yours sincerely.
