The car is extremely  spacious ,aptly powered for usage in India. It has very good suspension for our road condition.Mahindra has worked well on the suspension to increase ground clearance to 170 mm now which is quite sufficient for all purposes on different roads of India.the interiors are quite acceptable for a car of this range.Mahindra is working on a version which will be less than four metres .so it will qualify for lower excise duty as applicable to small cars.Expected reduction in price may be around fifty thousand .though it will be at the cost of some boot space .But the existing boot space is quite large so you may not feel the pinch.Mahindra may also decide to continue with the existing version with big boot space also as it will cater to the needs of variety of customers..While working on the shorter version of this car,Mahindra must ensure to come up with a funky looking boot and the rear appearance as some people do not loke the existing boot and the existing rear appearance

very good space and comfortable ride, value for moneySlightly boxy design

      I drive M800 currently.Tested all enrty level sedans.my running is 11000km per year,mostly highway.

Dezire rear view is difficult & least back seat space for all(fuel 11-14kmpl petrol) but good resale value.Ikon costly maintence in the long run & only cosmetic changes in new model, sales go up with new launch & then fall down(fuel 11-13kmpl).Accent outdated(fuel 9-12kmpl).Indigo CS again poor dealer service & high maintenance cost after 1-2 year due to poor build quality but cheap to buy.Aveo is again not so popular.

Logan (1.4 glx edge)has best colours, space, fuel economy(14-16) & INTERIORS is excellent --premium leather seats, wood  finish centre console, kenwood system with i-pod slot, reverse parking sensor, body graphics with purple colour body paint, boot release button, exhaust muffler, trip computer, central locking with engine immobilizer, rear door child lock & rear power window lock. not to mention the huge space inside.Room for 5 adults & 1 child.Tyers 185/70 R14 tubeless standard in all versions.Braking time & safety is on par with ABS models.

Big front & rear windscreen is always helpful in driving as I get excellent view all around.High seating position helps a lot in city driving. Checked up with other customers & confirmed low cost of running.Dealer service just ok.no fog lamps in front(cost Rs.10000/- -- why).power windows button placement???.

      Review after 1st service:

Very comfortable for long journey.Drove 4 hours from coimbatore to munnar hills & 2 hours break & then again 4 hours to Kottayam. In return drove via Ernakulam/cochin  continously 6.5 hours.People stop & admire the looks everywhere I went. The purple colour with body graphics & leather seats attract attention.Mileage achieved was 17kmpl.(714 kms 42 lts petrol). This includes highway & city driving.Kerala cities traffic is horrible.however no problem in handling city traffic.Bad roads, potholes  & small bumps no problem as the suspension is for Indian roads.Strong Car.Safe car.

Current average of city & highway driving is 17-20kmpl.(30:70) at speed of 60kmph & at speed  of 100 it drops to 14-15kmpl(with AC on).Driving with or without  AC gives same mileage.

My service cost was Rs.46.00 only. However service quality is just ok.They forgot to clean the front & rear windshield before delivery of the car.same for both rear view mirror.Second service cost at 9000km was 1490.00.Third service at end of year 11900kms  cost me Rs.1136.00.

Best Interiors & Fuel Economy in class,Easy to handle in city due to good visibility of all sides.price can be reduced by 30000/-.PICKUP is low

      Hi All,

i m driving in Delhi. purchased my logan on 1st nov 2007

i have been reading lot many reviews abt Logan. I own GLX1.4

my logan has done 20000kms and have got my 3rd service done

      my feedback as on 22/8/08:

      1. mileage : Delhi @ 12-13 kmpl w/o AC & highway = @ 16-17 kmpl (Awesome i shud say- considering a 1.4L engine - 8 valve)
      2. driving comfort :

                 - Power steering : harder than expected ( I had 2000 model of Ford icon 1.6Zxi prior to buying Logan and i found the steering of old ford to be slightly smoother than my new logan.

               - seats : very comfortable

                -  cockpit -- good , on the contrary to the reviews mentioning reverse wipers and indicators -- i would definetely point out that the wipers are much stronger than most of the cars and the direction anyways doesnt bother the drive. Indicator direction may require initial adjustment(Ford too has reverse indicators keys)

      3. AC : here i had some issues - it is not extremely hot these days in Delhi but still during the daytime i donot find AC to be actually chilling the Car as expected.. === AC of all my other cars {ALTO,ZEN-Estilo, Ford and WagonR(both of which i have sold now) was/is better performer}

UPON SERVICE IT WAS DISCOVERED THAT THERE WAS SOME LEAKAGE IN THE AC HENCE THE PERFORMANCE WAS NOT GOOD== got it rectified under warranty and it is now working much much better.

      4. Pick up ::  Good pick up lets not forget it is only 76Bhp beauty and performs upto the mark . Although the ABC (Accelerator, Brake and clutch) are positioned closer to each other hence sometimes it may disturb you.

      5. Braking: excellent - have encountered couple of instances where i needed to bring the car from 110-0 and i think it did in at max @2-3 seconds flat.

      6. Gear shift==  excellent --  i understand Renault is respected for both their Engine and Gear box and i should say they are both outstanding.

      7. space -- should i comment on it?

overall i am content with the vehicle at this price and truly a Value for MONEY car.

THESE DAYS I M IN BAHRAIN AND LOGAN HAS BEEN RECENTLY LAUNCHED (OCT-NOV- 2009) AND TRUST ME THE SPECS HERE ARE FAR FAR BETTER THAN WHAT THE R IN INDIA... AND THE PRICE IS SIMPLY BEYOND COMPARISON.

       - 1.6L LOGAN - AUTOMATIC IS @ INR 6L ON ROAD HERE.

       - TOYOTA COROLLA - AUTOMATIC 1.8L - @ 9L ON ROAD HERE

      - HONDA CITY - 1.6L  AUTOMATIC - @INR 6.5L

DUTIES IN INDIA ARE MAKING THE PRICE SKYROCKETING ---  @ 2-3 TIMES THE ORIGINAL COST .... TOO EXPENSIVE..

if any one differs with my review pls send me the feedback may be i have overlooked some thing in last 10 months of driving

       Well its really tough.
As a car, Logan is better, we all know this.
But then after the recent developments that Mahindra wants to leave JV because Renault went to Bajaj for $3000 car, its clear that Mahindra is not interested in JV.

Just think that if really Mahindra leaves then, where will you go for service and maintenence?
So though Logan is a better car, it loses just as FIAT. A potential customer who is spending 5-5.5 Lakh will not want such an unpredictable future.

So,go for better car as well as good After Sales and Service.
So to conclude, the winner on the heart is Logan as it is better and I feel, a safer car. now decide??????????????????

Hi…persons who are looking for a practical, spacious, no nonsense, value for money car, you must go in for Logan - Autocar has given the verdict recently for logan - 4 Star rating to match with verna, fiesta rating. You just cant compare logan to Ikon or esteem or accent, as these cars are getting dated. You have a clear 50k saving compared to fiesta. You get almost everything in 1.6 petrol except electrically operated rear mirror and remote boot opening. The drive is class of its own. Interiors are not posh as that of accent or fiesta but much bearable. Looks might not make people turn their heads neither the ergonomics but this can be overcome with huge spacing, quality drive and value for money. Overall a value for money car.

value for money, spacious, drive comfort, practicalpoor ergonomics, no luzury interiors

I test drove the Logan. Had been contemplating buying a diesel car for a lng time..had finally made up my mind to buy the Verna - Diesel but decided to wait for the Logan.

After the test drive, i've gone ahead and booked the logan. Why ???

      1. Good price point. The top end is cheaper than a Verna- BBay by a good 1 lakh.

      2. Roomier than most of the car. Altho I think that the Indigo is equally roomy.

      3. Quality of drive : Better than an Indigo. Comparable to a ford Fiesta, however the Verna is miles apart (better). The  engine is pretty good and did not feel like I was driving a diesel car.

As a car, the Verna has a better engine (BHP : 110 vs 65 for Logan) however, the overall package is more appealling in the logan. The ride quality is good and its more value for money.

Again I'm a city driver and for me factors like room, fuel efficiency and boot space are more relevant than sheer power. The logan also offer good addons like the air bag for driver side.

On the downside : stupid cost saving issues like , the boot can be opened only with the key..no remote boot opening. Mirrors are not electronically operated. They've minimised the power window keys. Also they're not ergonomically placed. The indicator and the wiper are like European cars - Ulta ...so it'll take time getting used to it.

However since the car satisfies most of my criterias...and am willing to compromise of the few negatives mentioned above.... So if you're looking the buy the Indigo-Diesel or the ford fiesta - Logan is a better bet.

Ok so now i've been using the logan for over 3 months and have done about 4500 kms in and around mumbai...my feel after 3 months...

It's an excellent overall package for the price provided. Its got everything that a car should have and the price point is great too. The diesel rides smoothly....the car is easy to handle...the after sales service - company showroom are eager to please and hence always available...the mileage is fantastic...an entire tank of fuel costs me abt 1500 bucks...which feels great too.

all the cons i mentioned earlier remain...but i've gotten used to the ulta wipers and indicators and the odd placement of the power window switches.

Been reading  lot of reviews on this car...and basically what ppl expected was a mercedes at the price of a maruti 800....cant happen... folks...

anyways I am happy I bought this car ....cheers !!

My name is Navin Rajpal, I bought the top end model (diesel) in June and have been having problems from day one. There was a noise from the a/c console and abnormal emmission of black smoke from the date of purchase, the a/c console has been changed but the smoke emission problem remains unresolved, though the turbo charger, air filter etc have been opened, cleaned and reassembled again, but I still use my logan as a fumigator in and around my residence for killing mosquitoes. Please check thouroughly before buying this car.I bought mine from AUTOMOTIVE MANUFACTURERS IN HYDEARBAD.good mileageHIGHLY POLLUTING VEHICLE

      friends ,

I have come to a conclusion that LOGAN is a good car with the following great features:

MORE MILES WITHOUT PILES(i.e. good fuel economy without bleeing ur ass).

driver side airbags:great safety feature in case of head on collision.

good safety for rear passengers with rear headrests for all and safety beams behind rear seats to prevent anything to come from the boot area into cabin incase of rear collision.

theatre style seating gives good view of outside.

good rear legroom for rear passengers which is the most essential feature in a family car.

some of the cons are as follows:

low ground clearance: chances for underbody damage are more.

smaller tyres on logan is an odd choice by Mahindra Renault. Bigger and better tyres and suspension would have made it a much better one.

no boot release from inside . boot release from inside is become a standard feature even in cars like Wagon R , Tata Indica etc.

Hope that LOGAN will have it in the next refined model.

Good fuel economy, spascious from inside, has driver side airbags, unique rear headrest for all.very low ground clearance for indian roads, tyres are very small, no inside boot release
