I have yesterday testdrive the Xylo. fealt good. acs and seats are very comfortable, even in the last row i 6ft person can seat very easily. Yes the only thing is No ABS neither Airbags. If that would have present then it would be an ultimate car. Also fealt tyre pressure was not upto the mark as the car was buggling the way i drove and during brakes, the way i was driving on water.. Good Car if every thing taken care...Good Interior, Spacious 3rd row, PowerfullNo ABS, No Airbags

Exterior THE EXTERIOR IS BETTER THAN THE INNOVA AND THE TAVERA I BET FOR SURE IT LOOKS VERY BEAUTIFUL AND EXCELLENT TEAM WORK AND EFFORTS FOR MAHINDRA AND MAHINDRA XYLO TEAM.

Interior (Features, Space & Comfort) I YOU GET ALL YOU NEED IN THE XYLO INTERIOR IS THE BEST IN ITS CLASS BETTER THAN THE INNOVA AND THE TAVERA.

Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox I LIKE THE ENGINE IT IS THE BEST AND IT IS ALSO FUEL EFFICIENT THAN THE INNOVA AND ALSO THE GEARBOX IS GOOD FOR THE XYLO.

Ride Quality & Handling RIDE QUALITY AND HANDLING IS TOO GOOD AND I THINK ANYONE CAN MATCH AT THIS PRICE.

Final Words I SHALL ASK EVERYONE TO BUY A XYLO BECAUSE IT IS CHEAP AND YOU GET EVERYTHING THAT YOU NEED IN A SUV HANDS OFF TO M&M.

Areas of improvement GIVE SOME MORE FEATURES FOR THE XYLO D2 BECAUSE I THINK IT NEEDS SOMETHING TO THE D2.

POWER STEERING, POWER WINDOWS, CENTRAL LOCKING, SPACE, MILEAGE, COMFORT, ECONOMICALITS WRONG FOR ME TO SAY ANYTHING AGAINST THE XYLO D2 BS 4

My test drive was a brief one. So I will tell you what I felt abt the car in that time.

The vehicle is spacious,no doubt, third row seats included. But on full capacity(read 8 people) there is little luggage space.

Also some plastics like the dashboard and grabhandles felt built to a price. The engine is somewhat noisy, can be felt inside the cabin on acceleration. The gear shift quality is average and there is initial lag before the turbocharger comes into action. I surely missed ABS and Airbags as this is definitely needed. It had considerable amount of pitching when braked hard. The bells and whistles make it good value for money. The tailgate in the showroom vehicle had a funny sound  when I tied to open it...Quality woes...may be!!

Overall a great value for money product...But not a competition to the innova quality....

I purchased XYLO E2 about 23 days back. I always had a small car till now. I guess my happiness with a MUV is but natural. Its a smart , powerful, spacious vehicle. The pickup is excellent. I have done about 1300 Kms till now, both on highway and city roads. The height of this vehicle gives advantage of very clear view while driving on city roads. I am enjoying the vehicle along with my family, who are thrilled with the comfort, space & style. I am 6'1" tall and I have enjoyed the leg space.

Now something which needs improvement. Finish is very poor. All the variants should be given fabric seat covers for more comfort. ABS & Air Bags should be provided. If I had to buy the higher varient, it would have been difficult for me and my son ( who is also 6' + ) to sit on the second and third row due to the low roof height ( due to AC duct ). The mileage is still a cause of concern for me. I am getting 9 kms/ltr on city roads and 12 on highway. I hope it improves after the first service. It will be great if someone who has used the car more, can give some insight on fuel economy. Just after 5 days of purchase I had problem with the AC, but it was rectified by the dealer and is ok now.

One very important thing M&M should improve - the quality of the dealership. They are totally unprofessional group of people. The ambience of the showroom was pathetic. I had to search for a sales person to give me details of the vehicle, when I first visited the dealer. I hope I get a good after sales service after one/two years when I will need it more.

I will give more information about this vehicle once I use it for another 6 months or so.

      Arun - mumbai

I was in two minds initiall to buy Xylo because of criticism on looks. Eventually, my appreciation for its space and economy got the better of me and I bought Xylo. It was a good decision because I haven't faced any kind of problem with my Xylo at all. When things are hassle free, they are always beautiful. It is a competent vehicle.

I have the E6 version and these are just some of the features: dual ACs with roof console, Vinyl + Fabric Seats, Remote Locking, Wheel Caps, Rear Wash Wipe & Demist, Intellipark Reverse Assist, Two dinn Audio system (with USB & SD Card), Ski Racks (Optional), Digital Drive Assist System (Trip computer,Speedo,Gear engaged), Electric ORVM & Body Side Moulding, Arm Rests, Lumber Support in captain seats, Contrast exteriors & Full floor Consol, front and back fod lamps

As far as fit, finish and build are concerned, Mahindra has done the best job on Xylo. The quality of upholstery, panels and paint job is better even that that of Innova.

The DDAS system is really helpful. Air Conditioning is really fast and efficient with air vents for all passengers.

There is space everywhere. Very Very spacious vehicle.

The driver's seat view is amazing. Refined mEagle engine was a surprise. I had expeted the diesel engine to be a little violent. But in xylo is is really smooth. You can feel the torque right from the beginning. The vehicle easily cruises at 95-100 kmph.

The fuel efficiency is astonishing. It gives a staggering 17 kmpl.

The only issue I came acroos was a slight body roll. But in reality it is very less and does not pose any real problems as such.

It is a mile muncher. A trip to Rajasthan from Pune was done in complete comfort.

The only real issue that I have come across till now is the slight rattling of the doors which make them seem like they are not closed properly.

      1. It is great to drive this car but just has a couple of cons in the driving experience of it, which are as follows a. You feel body roll on high speeds b. Clutch is too hard which can cause knee pain in the heavy traffic. 2. Service provided by Mahindra is very poor, and they discriminate between the cars, as once my car broke down, I went to a service station and they refused to even check what happened to the car, saying we only provide services to XUV. Okay for the servicing but they should have atleast checked what happened to the car. Pros: 1. Comfortable 2. Spacious Cons: After sales service.

Big car. I didnt like the outside look initially. That slowly changed when I sat in the car and start driving and changed completely when I owned it. We expect a cary or jeepy look but this is somewhere in the middle.

Lots of space for all passengers. I drove to Kochi from Bangalore with just 20 min lunch break(600kms). No fatigue at all. very confortable. Great comfy seats, powerful engine, smooth gears and soft clutch. Drive non-stop. Great view from the cockpit. There is a bit of body roll. But once you are familair with the vehicle you learn to handle it just like any other SUV.Suspension is soft and can glide over average roads.

Excellent value for money. 3500 miles so far on my speedo in 2 weeks. No issues. Great mile cruncher.

      Areas of improvement

plastic quality, esp the inside door knob looks cheap. music system, better sleek looks. Mahindra dealers-they are far better now but still short of Maruti and Hyundai.Need to install a rear view camera for reversing and parking. YOu wont see if a child or a bike stand behind the car.

Overall I an very happy with Xylo

Xylo made entry into Indian market when the MUV market was dominated by Toyota Innova and Chevrolet Tavera. The Xylo can be stretched easily to the speed at which it goes as fast as it possibly can.

Mahindra has made this car after a lot of research and testing not just in India but also Sweden, Australia and South Africa and that is why they have come up with a good product. It is product for world success.

Xylo as Mahindra’s vehicle is all new and nothing is shared with Scorpio. Yet when you sit behind the wheel in a xylo, it will remind you of a Scorpio. Everything has a very weighty feel; the steering is a little heavy, you need a little effort to shift the gears. But otherwise it feels better than a Scorpio. The wheelbase is longer, the track is wider. It has better stability, better handling and feels more planted especially over bad roads. It has better ride quality too. It feels overall like a better Scorpio and that is a very good thing.

The engine is mEagle but it is the same CRDe engine from the Scorpio. It is a 2.5ltr Common Rail Diesel that makes 112 bhp and 240 Nm of torque. The more powerful mHawk engine would have been preferred because it is crucially 80 Kgs lighter than mEagle. But for most applications, this torqy engine suffices.

The best part of the Xylo is that it doesn’t have leaf spring suspension at the back. It has coil spring suspension that not only gives better ride quality, it also improves handling. Mahindra is not known for making great handling cars and the Xylo is no better, but it is stable, it is fast and it doesn’t do anything funny. And that is the most important thing in a MUV like Xylo.

Looks wise it does take a little long to digest. It is like a cross between Scorpio and an Innova. It is like a generic MPV. But it does have curves and impressive road presence because of its size.

The interiors have been paid a huge amount of attention. The quality of the materials used is quite good. It has a multi function display that has a series of information including a compass, a barometer, it also gives you range, tripper meter details and speed. It also gives distance your car will travel in the remaining fuel.

The two tone upholstery is good in black and silver. There is chocolate also but that is a grade less in terms of look and feel. There is attention for details like even the key Control is colour-coded.

Like Mahindra says, the car has been designed inside out. That makes it a very comfortable car. The second row captain seats are extremely comfortable. Even at the back, three people can travel comfortably.

The xylo is a good drive and there is no question about it but its biggest trump card is its brilliant pricing. The base version that gets a power steering, power windows, Central locking and air conditioning is 6.2 lakhs or something. Fully loaded may go upto eight lakhs or something. This is fabulous valu e for money. Especially when compared to the Innova whose, base version costs almost a lakh and a half more.

Mahdra has done a very fabulous job with Xylo. When Mahindra first brought out Scorpio, it was a little scary in terms of handling and stability. But Mahindra learned from their mistakes and over the years Scorpio has now become one of the fuinest SUV’s. With Xylo, Mahindra has made no mistakes.

The only limitation can be styling.

      great handling and brilliant pricingstyling

this is intended to be a user update. have used the xylo E8 for less than a month and have driven 1800kms. have to tell you that the performance has been more than satisfying. the comments on my previous post still stands. the system is most disappointing. am thinking of upgrading with an amp and sub woofer from nippon. the AC continues to disappoint. regret not having checked it more thoroughly. the suspension and therefore the ride quality is superb. the inside comfort and style quotient is great. during all the driving i have done in the month, the comfort level has been outstanding. overall am happy to have brought the xylo but still maintain that the E8 is best.

Exterior If you buy a black Zylo then the exteriors looks ok compared to other colour variants, but the problem is during summer the car tends to get warmer compared to a lighter colour variants.  You could buy a white if you like.  I personally feel that alloy wheels should have been little attractive, looks like a very common design and nothing speacial about it.

Interior (Features, Space & Comfort) Interiors have great space and one would feel comfortable even with 7 adults, actually this is the best part of the vehicle and if you think your priority is a comfortable drive and not speed or zip charecter then this is the best car for you & your family.

Luggage space has been compromised, it would have been better if the last row could have been split in the center like innova, so that if you have 6 people in the vehicle we could fold the 7th seat and use that space for luggage.

Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox Engince performance is good and has good power in first and secon gear, but thrid gear is littl sloppy compared to scorpio.  I think the engine can be further tuned for better power.  Like I said earlier, if you are looking at a comfortable drive and not intending to race with other cars or to keep up with time perticularly when you travel long distance then I feel this is the car for you.

Ride Quality & Handling Ride quality is good for the price we pay and one cannot expect more.

Final Words Good MUV for the price tag it has, but if you are a quality freak then you need to buy something else, here it is a balance struck between price and quality.

Areas of improvement 3rd gear power, luggugage space and plastic quality.

Great Space, comfortable seating, good performance with 1st and 2nd gear.Plastics, Seating Height-people have to climb into it. very less power with 3rd gear
