I purchased Mahindra XUV 500 last year and just completed 480km, received recall of my vehicle from Mahindra & Mahindra not sure why. After they gave back from recall one fine day while driving the vehicle on highway suddenly clutch failed and my family including my two small kids escaped from accident. So i called up customer care and they towed my vehicle to service center. I gave complain to Mahindra customer care against this incident and requested regional service manager to repair it properly as this is very dangerous. They have assured me they will repair properly and give it back after testing. After two weeks they returned the vehicle and i was happy that they have repair it properly.

But unfortunately while me and my brother driving on highway the same problem occurred again after driving few kilometers , suddenly the clutch become free and the engine stopped right in the middle of road. Very lucky that we were driving slowly at 20km/hr at that time otherwise we would have had severe accident.

After this second incident now I lost my confidence driving this vehicle and I will not be able to drive this vehicle again. I suspect there is manufacture faulty in the vehicle, Mahindra's service engineers are not able to rectify this problem. I raise this concerns to the VP of customer care of Mahindra & Mahindra, regional manager head and requested them to refund my money or replace with new vehicle, they are not willing to do that. Instead they are saying that they will repair again and give it back to me.

But now even if they rectify the problem and repair i won't be able to drive this vehicle, because from the past two incidents I am scare to drive now. I wasted my hard earned money buying this over priced useless vehicle. Now, not knowing what to do.

Once you have purchased the vehicle , there is no one to help you. Their top management people are deaf they don't care to address your concerns. So think twice before you buy.

NothingI have been cheated by Mahindra. The vehicle has manufacture defect

I am writing this review just to save some another brother any where in india from purchasing XUV 500

I have used this car for 8 months and i can write a book over this shitty car

So, I Purchased this vehilce in November 2015. Mahindra Xuv 500 ,

On the first ride to my home, I felt that ride is very Bumpy, but i thought that this feeling is due to change of vehicle. But after a few trips of here and there, I started feeling that the suspension of this car is worst.Even worst then a tata Indica.I complained against this to the company but they said it is lot better then previous model of XUV 500.

I am totally disapppointed by the few things :-

      1. Very Very Bumpy Ride - Because suspension of this car is a waste.

      2. In Punjabi (- Gaddi bahut Jhol Maardi hai) - The chassis of this car is so badly designed that it starts giving your lower back and neck so much pain and you get tired even after 80-90 Kms

      3. AC Vents are so poorly designed

        a) The noise of AC vents is like you have started some project

        b) Bad Positioning - Driver never gets full air as air from ac vents strike the steering first.

        c) Rear AC is just as formality

      4. Door Panels and Dashboard panels are definiteyl inferior in looks and feel , Infact the strenght is such a shit that panels make noise even being just a 6 month old car.

      5. My Mistake was that, I compared this shit car on Price Basis and feature basis.and thought i was intelligent to make this decision.

      6. Dealerships ha ha , they dont give a **** at all, Car is yours sir, what we can do ?

      7. I request you to please please compare comfort and reliabitlity levels.

      8. Innova and creta are much much better option then this big truck and mahindra should start selling this vehicle as a commercial load carrier rather then a passenger car.

      9. Anyone can contact me through my mail ID smadaan58@yahoo.in and I will personaaly help you to be saved from this problem and moreover i shall be putting this review to the maximum sites as possible to save another person from comitting this mistake.

Just Looks (And I request you not to go for looks and Price Factor))Bumpy ride , Suspension issues and I can write a debate over its cons

      Dear Sir,

I am a practicing doctor in Patiala and a sad owner of XUV 500 W-10 bought in June 2015. I was a fan of XUV-500 till now and must have recommended at least 10 friends and family members to buy the same. But recently something happened that changed my entire view about the car and the company Mahindra. I planned to make a road trip from Patiala to Goa on this new years eve.

We were supposed to leave Patiala on 31st Dec and reach Goa by 3rd Jan visiting various places on the way. The vehicle was quite fine, however around 20th Dec, it showed the yellow “check engine” light off and on. So I went to the local dealership who inspected the vehicle and replaced the vacuum modulator under warranty. However the light did not go off after they replaced the vacuum modulator and it took them another 2 hours to solve the issue. At last they handed over the vehicle to me saying that everything is ok. I have been using XUV for the last 7 years and this is my 2nd XUV.

I was not satisfied with the performance as the engine was showing loss of power on highway driving. I again approached the Patiala dealership but they could not find any error and told me it’s just my phobia nothing else. I believed them and started my journey towards Goa on 31st Dec 2017. However the engine seemed to be compromised throughout the journey which I had to ignore as per my local dealership’s advice. We reached Goa on 3rd Jan 2018 evening. We were supposed to stay there for 4 nights and check out on 7th Jan. we had another friends couple along with my Father in law and 3 children.

I was quite enthusiastic as I love to drive. We planned to visit various sightseeing spots in the days to follow in our ever favorite XUV. However when I started the car very next morning i.e on 4th of Jan, there was a loud sound as if the tyre had busted and the car came to a halt. I got down and checked that all tyres were fine. I tried to restart the engine but it won’t take the self. After trying for a couple of times, I thought better call the experts. I called on the helpline number who after a very lukewarm response put me across the local Muktar Automobiles expert team.

The service advisor told me that they will charge 1500/- rupees just to visit the vehicle and it does not ensure that they can solve the problem or not. The other option was to get the vehicle towed to their dealership where they can inspect the vehicle completely. I thought, since the days were limited, it was better to save time and I asked my family to wait while I arranged to get the vehicle towed to the dealership by paying 2500/- rupees.

I reached there around 11 am. And after making repeated requests to the service managers there they ultimately attended me. They kept on making vague guesses about the problem and when around 1 hour had gone, they decided to keep the vehicle and issued me a vehicle receipt mentioning that require minimum 2 days to get the vehicle back to shape. They gave the date of delivery as 7th jan, however verbally they told me that it should be ready by 6th Jan evening itself.

I could see my entire trip getting ruined. I went back to my hotel in a local bus as there was no dropping facility available. I requested the company to at least arrange for an alternate vehicle, but even after making repeated requests, they said that the best they can do is arrange for a Maruti Swift. Finding no alternative, I had to hire a 7 seater rental vehicle @ 3500/- per day as it was high season and there was a shortage of vehicles.

We had to miss many tourist attractions like Dudhsagar Falls as the rental vehicle was given for local use only. Anyhow, we managed to carry on with our trip with a heavy heart and waited for 7th Jan for our XUV to return. But to my utmost surprise, I received a call from company expert on 7th Jan around 12 pm saying that they have not been able to find the error! and asked me to wait for another day. I had to make emergency arrangement for stay for all the people along with transportation. I got an SMS from Company saying that my vehicle shall be delivered on 8th Jan around 4 p.m.

We checked out of hotel next day i.e on 8th Jan, and when I asked about the status, only reply that I got was that there was something wrong with the engine and they are still trying to figure out the problem. It may require another day or two. This was so much disgusting. We were supposed to reach Patiala on 12th Jan for an important family function (Lohri Function of my niece). I got in touch with senior management of the company and Mr. Swapnil the area manager said that he was personally monitoring the situation and it should not take long.

I trusted the company and waited for another day. However on 9th Jan, I made around 6 calls to the service manager Rahul K, and also to area manager and when they responded by afternoon, all they could say is that they are trying their best. I had no choice. We all were being held hostage without any fault of ours. Finally on 10th Jan, Mr. Swapnil informed that there is a huge list of parts that have to be replaced and he is arranging for them. I could not afford to extend my stay that long as I was supposed to reach Patiala on 12th by all means and we had small children with us who had to attend school on 13th.

I tried to search for air tickets but the best option that we could get was on the morning of 12th Jan. We had to purchase 7 tickets on premium price. We had to make arrangements for stay and transportation till 12th Jan meaning that an extra expenditure of 5 days starting from 7th Jan, not to mention the amount of harassment that we all had to face. Finally on 11th Jan, I received the vehicle at 6.30 P.m. I had to ask my father in law (a retired senior citizen) to get the car back as it would take 4 more days to reach Patiala and we all could not afford to travel by road for obvious reasons.

On 12th Jan, we all left by air with a heavy heart and a ruined trip. But the ordeal did not end even here. My father in law started from Goa at 8 am and within an hour, the same problem of loss of pick-up started to appear again. Our phones were switched off as we were in flight and he somehow managed to get in touch with area manager again and was asked to take the vehicle to Kohlapur Service Centre. They have done some patch-work, which I am still apprehensive may not last long. Now the question is that will Mahindra have the guts to take the responsibility of the entire blunder? Will Mahindra have to guts to compensate for the entire financial loss that I had to suffer? (not to mention the emotional ordeal). The only option left with me is to approach the consumer court and let’s hope the justice prevails!

In the end I would like to request all readers, not to trust Indian companies and prefer established brands. And do take a feedback from existing customers before making any decision.

Dr. Sameer Modi 7 Preet Nagar, Lower Mall, Patiala 91538-XXXXX.

DO NOT BUY Xuv500. They are cheaters! The fake people you would ever find. I have such a bad experience. My husband took the top model xuv500 W10 on 15th August 2017. Just when we started taking it out of the showroom the handle of the back seat came out! This clearly shows the PDI was not done properly. Then came the first servicing after 1000kms in 15 days when the vehicle started making some noise. The first service was done at 1605 kms on 7th September 2017. And then on 17th September 2017 my daughter went to daund taking my mother-in-law and father-in-law who are patients to some doctor. While going there the car starting heating up when the AC was on! As there were my in-laws who were not well my daughter tried to reach there with just a speed of 40. When tried contacting the mahindra road side assistant, they started asking the chasi number, color of the car, registration number and all questions that weren't valid at that time. Just the number of the vehicle and name of the owner is enough what I feel. They said leave the car there and a cab will arrive, which might take 1 hour. And then when my daughter contacted the technical person, he said open the bonet and see if the coolant is there or not. So then she see's the coolant was not there! So now here is the question, when on 7th September 2017 the servicing was done, was the coolant not checked?? Wasn't the PDI DONE? If the coolant gets over in 10 days, with 300kms is this our mistake?? And now when there was no option in daund for service the technical person sakharam told my daughter to put water in the coolant tank, which she did. When she came back to pune and gave the vehicle for servicing on Monday 18th September 2017 the company still can't find where the coolant is going, and what's the problem. And today we got a call saying there is something wrong that we can't find out and if there is something that needs to be changed you have to PAY for that! So now my question is I bought a new vehicle for 21 lac rupees and drive it for less than 2000 kms and company says that's my problem the coolant is leaking or whatever. I have been cheated with a faulty vehicle! And the staff is so rude. They say we can't do anything. It's been emotionally such a big disappointment and sadness. Investing in and trusting mahindra was the biggest mistake of my life. Please do not buy anything from mahindra they are cheat!

I own a Mahindra XUV 500 with registration number MH05BL3197. I am narrating my nightmares with the car below.

Before embarking on a long journey I sent my car for service & check up to Global Gallerie Thane on 8th June 2015. I started with my family and luggage on 10th June for trip to Sangli and back. Just after reaching Pune expressway we could hear a ‘chik chik’ sound. We stopped & could notice noise coming from bonnet & car was over heated. Smoke & smell of plastic burning was noted. We didnt see any warning on cluster that temperature was going up. We immediately called up Global Gallerie Thane to report the incident and were told to contact ‘road side assistance’ to take car to nearest service center which was Global Gallerie Palaspe (Panvel). I had to call for another car to continue my journey. My family was stranded for 3 hours on road.

This is my 4th car and take routine care and know where to look for intermittently on the instrument cluster.

This is the 3rd breakdown in last 8-10 months.

1st breakdown – Clutch system malfunction. It failed on road.

2nd breakdown – Earthing leakage. Battery drained fully. Again stranded. This malfunction happened same night on which car was serviced. Record can be checked.

My family has said a big NO for further Mahindra vehicles.

What check Mahindra authorized service people do? It is a cruel joke.

The car is under warranty. Workshop is still assessing and will inform me on Monday on further course of action. That means I will be without car for a week. If I don’t get the Car serviced free of cost quickly I will go to consumer court and file a case. It has crossed limits of my patience and endurance.

Other perennial problems with vehicle exist with reverse sensors, power windows, clutch system, AC, Alignment etc etc.

      1.

      Good looksLoads of them

      Exterior Fine.

Interior (Features, Space & Comfort) Improved than earlier versions.

Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox We purchased the W8 automatic in Fed 2016. But had many issues with engine start up. One fine day the vechicle did not start though the panel lights were on still the vechicle did not start. But after multiple tries about 3 hrs it started. Dealership was not ablet o reproduce the issue. They said some issue with software. This has accured many times till date and 3 times they took it to service center said its fixed and again the issue comes up. Fed up of this vechicle. Lessons learnt - not to trust the quality of Mahindra.

      Ride Quality & Handling Poor.

Final Words Cant trust the quality of Mahindra. Needs lot of improvement. Just the look alone is not enough. For such a big vechicle the kind of quality in spare parts is very poor.

Areas of improvement Over all quality.

      Spacious, lookPoor quality - Automatic

      Exterior Looks good.

Interior (Features, Space & Comfort) Plastics are cheap. Pockets are useful. Infotainment system CRASHES AND REBOOTS OFTEN.

Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox This my own experience. Have been owing W8 automatic  from March 2016. Very bad experience. Problems started in the 1st month onwards. Suddenly, the infotainment system crashed and rebooted multiple times. Then cam the bigger issue of not starting. It does not even crank. It seems to be a sensor issue. This has been there for more than 2.5 months but the technicians are not able to fix the issue. They have take nthe vehcile so far 3 times to the service center. And they promise the problem is fixed. But problem recurs within a week. Horrible experience.

We dont even know if the car will start in the morning. Feeling is awful. dont even go for this vehicle. Starting problems exists, automatic transmission is not tested properly. I have my car which is service center or in my parking lot due to starting problems most of the time. DONT BUY THIS VEHICLE, DONT WASTE TIME AND PUT YOUR PEACEFULNESS AT RISK. Very poor mileage - only 9 kmpl.

Ride Quality & Handling Still the shakiness is very visible. It is not worth.

Final Words If you have money go and invest in a reliable vehicle,DONT EVEN ENTER MAHINDRA SHOWROOM.

Areas of improvement ALL except exterior looks.

looksBad performance, poor mileage, rest all

      Hello,

This is Gaurav Sehgal from New Delhi. I bought Mahindra xuv -500 w-4 model in october 2014 in two days i faced a complaint for alignment, wheels were not balanced , window glass of driver seat was making noise, AC was making a strange noise. I had sent it back to the showroom and they brought  it back next day .  Then  before first service the same problems were there . Now 7500 kms i saw rubber sole from tyres started to fall off.

Workshop is around 55 kms away from my house at mathura road ,i went there twice, in delhi traffic it took me 4 hrs to go there and then to come back .Yesterday a boy from the workshop took the car and brought it back with a report that JK tyres has rejected your request to change their scrap tyres.

Now i am talking to mahindra people to whom i gave the money around 13 lakh. I will get their report on monday.

Then there will be a third step on tuesday which for sure i need to take because i can see that they all have cheated me and they going to blame me for the scrap which they gave me.

The consumer court, Social media, international news channels , magazines.

I'll do whatever i can to get my money back or else they replace their scrap tyres.

Yes i accept it was my fault that i went for mahindra instead of honda / maruti and other good makes. I am giving around 16000 per month as emi of the. Car . So the car value for me will be around 14 lakh or more  by the end of the last installment .

THIS IS THE WORST EXPERIENCE OF MY LIFE GOING TO  MAHINDRA ( THE SCRAP MAKERS)

Space and looksHead rest , weired noise of window glass, poor quality of tyres, chroming, bumper gaurd

I thought of buying XUV 500 to upgrade from Scorpio. Though XUV performs well as expected there is a major set back in looking into the comfort of ride.

Though Mahindra claims indipendent shock abosorbers etc etc, the shocks are shockingly hard and really makes you uncomfortable to take all shocks of road directly on you. This is really unacceptable looking at the other loaded features etc.

It really surprises that Scorpio rides are really much much comfortable than XUV in this aspect.  Even view of the road in ghat and curving road is better in Scorpio than XUV as side beam is huge and blocks view. It even gives you surprises as you will not see in coming vehicles some times.

Also, Mahindra should stop providing poor quality of wheel caps of XUVs. Customer can buy good ones rather than suffer with all sorts of noise coming from this.Incidently showroom guys tried several times to fix this and failed though new XUV kept with them couple of days.

Looks good has good styleYou can forget comfortable ride as you are on four rock hard suspension makes you regret buying XUV

      Exterior Good.

Interior (Features, Space & Comfort) Poor quality plastics  all compartment locks fail It seems while saving cost you forgot that its moving product which faces road and harsh environment and is engineering product rather than just asthetic product.

Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox OK.

Ride Quality & Handling Poor, you dont feel like driving 16 Lacs SUV.

Final Words Good Design, Feature loaded but Manufacturing Quality is Pathetic.

Service and Spares are just Fleecing business. Transmission and Steering has serious flaws

Plastics are all cheap , Sensor and other electronics are cheap chinese parts which function erratic and fail too often and then due to high replacement cost customer leaves them as it is and company data base shows no defects

Areas of improvement Improve on manufacturing Quality. An SUV with maximum features where most of them malfuctioning is less of pleasure and more of Pain.

Train your service engineers. Service Team is worst among all major auto companies. Please learn from Maruti as to what is Service support, manufacturing Quality and Product Reilabilty or else you will go the Tata Indica way.

Indian SUVService is simply fleecing , it will cost you 1 to 2 lacs/year as every thing will fail & costly
