Exterior Quite beautiful and muscular exteriors with a wonderful headlamps and a led's, it gives a feel of racing car with its twin exhaust it will rock the market. Interior (Features, Space & Comfort) Classy and elegant interiors with nice leather finish, great instrument clusters and ultimate console gives a look of a cockpit. its 3 row optional seating is wonderful and spacious, its a complete family car. Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox For engine i can't say anything till now as i just watch it on the pictures but i hope m&m did well with the engine as i am the proud scorpio owner and it was great experience with scorpio. Ride Quality & Handling No comments but I think it could burn the roads. Final Words I m lovin it and managing to get it as soon as possible, because I love adventure an offoading. God bless me to have the one. Areas of improvement Just only they missed the sunroof it will give elegant looks to the xuv.

Exterior COOL is the word... for exteriors.. Gives competition to Fortuner which is 10 L costlier than this one.
Interior (Features, Space & Comfort) Features - Cool, Space - oK oK. COMFORT - Ok Ok, Interior quality - Not upto the mark... Cheap and poor quality plastic, noise coming from doors, dashboard, brakes after 1000 kms of driving in test drive vehicles does not sound good.
Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox Average pick-up.. Fuel economy yet to be tested. Claims to be around 12 KMPL.
Ride Quality & Handling Ride quality is average on city roads, yet to be tested on highways at 120+ speed.
Final Words Value for money. What else can one expect for a 12~14 L vehicle SUV. Looks compensate for every shortcoming in the vehicle. A must buy for all people having this budget and taste of SUV.
Areas of improvement Plastic quality in interior, noisy interior needs to be taken care offf.

Exterior The overall exterior is excellent with new style handles .Front chrome grill impressive. The head lamps are good and worth the money.
Interior (Features, Space & Comfort) Cheap quality interiors [plastic] but i guess what could you expect for this price .No other suv has the featuers of the XUV in this price range, Certainaly beats Honda CRV, FORTUNER ,and other suv's in the market [like features for price] comfort level is good plenty space in second row. Third row need to improve or may be take it out to give more bootspace as I think people will still go for XUV then honda CRV as the latter has only two rows of seating.
Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox Good handling.fuel economy sxhouldn't be worried about if you are buying a car for 1.5 million inr.
Ride Quality & Handling Excellent but need more knowledge for the sales guy .HANDLING PERFECT.
Final Words Excellent for the price it has been offered.

Exterior Appealing, great work by MnM design team, excellent ground Clarence and static bend headlight feature is impressive. Lotus petal alloys are great.
Interior (Features, Space & Comfort) Good looking interiors though plastics could have been better. Features are impressive and few are very useful. Excellent A/c that cools cabin with in few mins.
Mine is w6 model that comes with mono color infotainment (mild bluish white color one) and fabric seats. We always preferred fabric seats as they were more comfortable than leather ones during jouney and we did not like more reddish multicolor infotainment in w8 model.
Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox Gear shiftbetween first and second gear is not comfortable though it's getting better after 1000 km run. Other gears are pretty smooth. Power is pretty good, there is slight lag in second gear and needs gear shift.
Surprisingly we got 15kms per liter during long drive and in the city we are getting 13-14 Kim's (with a/c always on). Cruise controls works superb and very comfortable on highways.
Ride Quality & Handling Ride quality is good. There are no vibrations at all and gives me a feel of driving a petrol car. Handing is just fine, turning radius is poor. Abs is not that effective. brakes requires major rework as it fails to gives a feel of disc brakes.
Final Words Great vehicle from mahindra stable. Low priced but a great vehicle and Far better than Innova, endeavor, fortuner which we tried before going for this vehicle
Areas of improvement Brakes, quality of speakers, plastics. Would have charged more for this vehicle and improved quality of materials. Automatic version with sun roof would be great.

Exterior Excellent appearnce on road. Defenitely you feel proud when others look at you driving this one. The grey plastic grills near lamps are worst looking and not matching with the exterior color. I drove a Silver color W6.
Interior (Features, Space & Comfort) The center panel is worst looking. It is not matching with any of the other interiors. Seat is confortable. The steerling column is touching my feet (on clutch) frequently when I turn it. GearBox is not positioned conveniently, I am5'10'' tall, I ahve adjusted my seat to avoid folding my legs, and still I have to search for the Gear liver as it is almost beside the arm rest. 2nd row can not be moved forward to give space for 3rd row which could make 3rd as comofrtable as 2nd row. I have observed lot of space given between 1st & 2nd row. 3rd row is for children or short people.
Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox Engine performance is good as the representative says it is a light weighed body it could pull it easily. Suspension is not at all good. Inside it is not too noicy as per its capacity & size, so it is good. I could not speed test as I have driven it in city and the busiest junction of Hyderabad (Nagarjuna circle - Punjagutta Fly over - CM camp office - U Turn - take Fly over - left and get down towards GVK - u Turn - back to show room). Pickup is good and rep. says it give 11-12 KMPH in city. Even 10 is a good mielage for such big vehicle.
Ride Quality & Handling Handling is good. Ride quality is also good.
Final Words I used to be a lover of Safari till I see XUV 500. Now, I am not going to buy Safari defenitely(I AM A SOFTWARE ENGINEER) and I would prefer XUV to Safari, once the refined version of XUV comes at little low price.

Exterior : Excellent Sporty looks stands this SUV apart from otherrs
Interior (Features, Space & Comfort) : Space and comfort is good inside. There is enough leg room in 1st and 2nd row seat. 3rd row seat is comfortable for kids. For tall height people, it may be not sufficient. Needs some improvement in interior quality. Still it's manageable as it's value for money.
Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox
Drive this car from last month within and outside the city. Fuel Economy I am getting is 15KMPL, which is outstanding. Gears are as smooth as of a luxury Sedan. However I am habitual to reverse back gear, which is not suiting to me in this car.
Ride Quality & Handling
Ride quality is superb and you don't find any issue on off-road driving. Very comfortable and steady while driving on rural roads. Antil rolling feature make this car more safer than any other car in this segment
Final Words
A true value for money as this car delivers excellent looks, power, performance , comfrotable riding and without pinching your pocket on mileage. Excellent Value for money

Exterior Fantastic and eye apealing
Interior (Features, Space & Comfort) Great design, best of comfortable leather seats, mood lighting is a class, space is really best in its class. The airconditioning creates some problem like the AC works only at the lowest temp and even at 18 degrees it throws hot air.
Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox 140 BHP Engine is very powerful and capable of taking heavy loads with super speed.
Ride Quality & Handling Ride is smooth and handling is quite simple. I'm yet to replace the stepney. Gears are quite smooth.
Final Words Over XUV 500 is Value for money and a pride to show off. People really look back at my XUV due to its terrific design and power
Areas of improvement Air Conditioning needs to be fixed. The AC cooling works only at the lowest temp and even if it is changed to 17.5 degrees, it starts throwing hot air. This has been escalated to Mahindra and their team is looking into it. They have traied to fix it twice but failed both the time.

My impressions are based on my test drive at @ 2:30PM, on 25th Nov 2012, of the W8 (FWD) which the executive said is from the "first batch" of vehicles released by M&M. Remember that they had a host of issues from music system , software to transmission system and brake pads. I drove for about 25 minutes on roads with speed breakers (large and small) and pot holes, as well as road which was newly done and was pretty smooth. I asked the executive to drive for the another 10 minutes while I was sitting in the second row (diagonally opposite to the driver). The car had 3 adults and 1 child (my family and the Mahindra guy), seated in row 1 and 2 only. In didnt bother much to experience the last row.
The car costs between 14.5 to 17.9 on-road in Bangalore. Optional accessories are extra. So its not what they released it last year and is expensive.
Exterior I love it. Thats why I bothered to test drive, else I would not have wasted my and Mahindra's time. Its easier to enter the vehicle (row 1 and 2) compared to a tata-safari. All side doors were a little hard and take a bit of arm power to open/close. The rear wihdshield is a bit compact. Could have been deeper (more height) to give better rear view, especially at night.
Interior (Features, Space & Comfort) Drive quality (for the driver), is good. Since you are seated well above the road, you can rest your head back on the head-rest and drive. Driver seat is 8-way adjustable. Pretty good. Steering is telescopic and tilt. Nice to have.
Placement of the gear stick is a bit awkward. This causes the 2nd gear movement to take your left arm behind your body and constant use may result in sprain or other injuries. Thats for me, 5'8" in height. Someone taller may find it a bit easier. It needs to be a bit to the right and an inch or so closer to dashboard for a perfect drive. Donno how Mahindra missed such simple ergonomics. The clutch is bit hard and needs full press for the gears to engage smoothly. Also the gear stick shifts needed more effort than I was expecting. And no, I am not going to take the argument that SUVs are meant to be like this. Not at all. Its just a plain simple ergonomics and design issue. SUVs can be just as fluid to drive as the best cars out there. Mahindra can do it. But it didnt. Improvement needed.
Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox Engine is powerful. We all know the specs and I am not going to repeat them. From a "feel" perspective, I am pretty satisfied. You can literally start moving the vehicle in the 2nd gear. Not that I am recommending it.. :). Pickup is good. There was a bit of low amplitude noise somewhere in the engine all the time I was driving. The Mahindra guy too didnt know what it was. There was a bit of squeaks from underneath the driver seat, but that could just be the seat springs not oiled properly.
Fuel economy is great as everyone tells me around here. Doesnt apply to this review as its just a test drive.
The first batch of XUVs had some sort of transmission problems and break pad issues, which the executive said have been addressed.
Ride Quality & Handling Ride quality is OK. I definitely expected a better suspension. Most indian city roads give you the same experience as "off roading". So Mahindra needs to work on the suspension and make it more comfortable especially in row-2. On speed bumps, I could feel the jerk betting thru, especially the small abrupt bumps which are the real problems. Small pot holes too showed up as sudden jerks which isnt expected if I pay 17-18 lacs. May be they can have a city varient like XUV500-C (c - city) :-) with a tuned up suspension.
What was most concerning was a consistant vibration in row-2 on the smooth road. I know it wasnt from the road as I travel on it in my car every day. So there was something wrong with the suspension. Not sure what/where.
Row1. While driving the waterfall model dashboard with music system et all, reflects in the front windshield and is quite annoying at times. Probably putting a black duct tape on the shiney sides may help.
The colors combinations used inside make it look cheap and plastic. Also no choice to select your own combinations. Infact a combination is mated to the outside color. So for instance, I cant choose a black and brown for a car thats white. Pretty bad...!
Seats are comfortable though could have been a bit mor so. Leather qlty looked fine.
Final Words 15-18 lacs is no economical. Mahindra needs to listen to its customers, experts and act on improving. They have launched Xuv in Australia in mid 2012. There will be some valuable inputs from those customers too.
Work on build quality, comfort and ergonomics rather than fancy features. Perhaps provide one more varianet with all the fancies.
With the launch of more SUVs and crossovers next year, Mahindra will have a tough compitition if they continue at this price point and the problems/requirements arent addressed.
Areas of improvement
- Suspension.
- Gear stick placement.
- interior plastics and build quality.
- overall build quality.
- Automatic transmission variant is needed.
As for me, I have decided to wait for some time till I get to test the offerings from the compitition next year.

Exterior of the vehicle is good and is having an impact when you see for the first time. But watch out folks you can get fooled. the vehicle only looks good with curves and chrome accesories . there is nothing else which should excite you baotu the vehicle.
Interior (Features, Space & Comfort) The front row is having comfort line so is the second row but nt at all the third row. there is very less space and you cannot place enough luugage also. you will have to put a carrier on roof like taxi walas.
Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox Engine performance is so so . there is no appeal if you compare with others.
Ride Quality & Handling Ride quality is fine on plain roads but if you are thinking to take it for offroading then its a big no no. the vehicle stands no chance in offroad . its no worth talking about it in offroads.
Final Words Mahindra is known for the superior built quality and stableness which is lacking in the car. mahindra is known for suvs but this is not worth mahindra. expectations are really high from mahindra in the field. Its a big no.
Areas of improvement The interior quality should has been better. The suspenison problem , the brake noise this all should be overcomed.
