    • Superb! Value for money
I bought it long back. Still it is going good. The feel the features at that time is really good. The looks and the seating is different then any other cars. It has bumper drive when 1 or 2 occupancy, if it has 5 or more ppls then it will great drive. I prefer old scorpio than the new models. The look is far better before only. The evolution of it leads to a bad looks.

    • Mahindras need to wake up to world realities
The problem with Mahindra is that the it lacks finesse. Its interior is poor quality and do not stand test of time. Not a great buy. There is lot of saving tried by manufacturer without thinking what hurts the customer. After sales service needs quantum jump. Long waiting, poor response are some of the normal user complain which they fail to satisfy.Cheap compared to imported carsbad interiors, poor service. New cars also have problem. lacks quality control

    • More than Expected package
I started looking at replacing my Zen some 2 months ago. After a lot of research (especially on this site) I zeroed in on Innova, Tavera and Scorpio. My requirements were -diesel vehicle, large luggage carrying capacity, rugged vehicle for family and work, do at least 150km in city and highway driving daily without a fuss in whatever road conditions and should stand the abuse of drivers. Finally went for the Scorpio and got delivery 2 weeks ago. The Tavera was struck off the list as the company guys were just not interested in doing business. I was chasing them for two weeks. I don't know how the cars is and how they sell any. After repeated calls and visits I was contacted once on the phone and that was it. The Innova is a very nice car. Good interiors and finish. Drives well too. But its shape and styling are a drag. Also, the price tag is too high. Of course u get the Toyota service and quality. Also the service outlet is a good 20km from where I stay and they do not have any pick up or drop for the vehicle. That left me with the Scorpio (although reluctantly at first). But I was in for a surprise. On my first visit I was offered a test drive. With this vehicle u need to keep up with it. Effortless overtaking and road handling. Its spacious. Has a good height too (which keeps oncoming headlights out of your face). Best of all it came with an offer of Rs 50 k off on this model. Mahindra has sure come a long way since their utilitarian jeeps. Had a Commander 15 years ago. It was the pits. Whatever I wished they change in the commander they have done so for the Scorpio. The Commander boasted uncomfortable bench seats, badly synchronised gears, rattling, vibrating, noisy engine, wayward braking and no overdrive. It had an engine which needed preheating before it coughed into life - with a lume of black smoke from the rear. All these irritations have been addressed and beyond in the Scorpio. With the windows up the Scorpio is actually a quiet vehicle (for a diesel engine). It reponds beautifully to the pressure of your foot on the accelerator. It just glides on the road. The ride quality is excellent. The Scorpio has really improved here. It is a little bumpy in the rear but not uncomfortably so. My kids love it in the back. I also had a need for lots of luggage space as I use the vehicle for work sometimes (we have a distributorship of color cosmetics and packaged foods) . Happy to say with the rear seats folded there is ample room for everything - and I mean everything. The power assist steering is also responsive. The mileage is poor. I get between 10 and 10.5 kmpl in mixed city and highway driving with the AC on. I have already done 1500km. The rear seat could have done with better lumbar suppport. It is also too straight and should have reclined a bit more. The steering adjustment I find useless. Its just a gimmick. The lower position sits on your lap. Beacuse of the height of the vehicle U are totally blind while reversing. I opted for the rear sensor (part of the freebie package) which should be a standard fitment actually. The rear wipers are a good idea. Opted for floor mats from the dealer which was a big mistake. Cheap PVC mats with some wax polish which melted onto the carpets and stained them. Have to do a complete carpet clean on my first service. The tail/brake lights are loud and embarassing. Thankfully they don't light up all the way up when u brake. All in all a good vehicle for family, work and recreation. I am glad I went for it. DARRYLPower personified, Good styling, spacious interiorspoor mileage, rear seats could have been better

    • Avoid - stick to foreign made SUVs
When I bought this car, I was proud to buy an Indian SUV - the reviews said it was reliable and most people stayed away from it on the road.  While that part of the reviews is what i also experienced, but I had a bunch of other problems.  1. The workman ship is pretty bad - in the first few months itself, several little things went wrong with it. For now,  it drives OK but intial breaking period was pretty bad. For something that cost 10 lacs to put on the road, I was expecting much better 2. The service coupons are a scam. When they sell you the car, they say the service is covered. What is covered is just INR 550 - my first service cost me nearly INR 3000.  The second one, they said I was a month late so the coupon "Lapsed" - what a royal scam. 3. It seems to really guzzle fuel. In about 6 months of use and 10,000 kms, I spend close to INR 40000 ! 4. The dealership (I bought the car in Hyderabad - Punjakutta) sucks big time. They charged me for accessories that they did not install and till today have not refunded my money.  The check is still in the mail 5. Safety Hazard - this reason alone should strike it from being a family car.  If the car is parked (engine off) and it is in 1st gear and you turn the ignition without touching the clutch, the car lurches (expected) and the engine turns on (major major surprise).  I had an accident in my neighbourhood, when the car started like that, started moving and ran into my neighbours parked cars (cost me over INR 10000 in liability plus a huge dent in my one car!).  There are several times where in a parked car my kids would reach over and start the car - imagine the damage you could do with this ? I took it to the dealar and they said that all Scorpios do that !  I think this car should be taken off the road just because of this.  Remember the time the Audi had a extra lurch when it went from Drive to Park ?  This is way worse than that. As soon as my lease expires, I plan to sell the car and get something more safe and reliable.road power (folks stay away from it)fuel economy, drives like a truck, service sucks, starts on ignition without engaging clutch !
