This is my second Scorpio. I bought the first one in 2011 SLE. I loved it very much and drove for 1.5 lac kms (across India, Nepal), but after 10 years the maintenance cost was getting high and after a mid highway clutch failure, i made up my mind and sold it. Sick of high maintenance i bought Maruti XL6, although it was excellent car but i started missing the commanding high drive position. Sadly I lost XL6 in Bangalore floods and when I had to buy a new vehicle i again went for Scorpio Classic. Man what an excellent improvement, thanks Mahindra for introducing Thar engine. It's very refined and does not feel like riding a mad horse, but a tamed one :-). The mileage has improved a lot. In full tank the old Scorpio used to go for 550 kms, the new one easily covers 700+. The stark difference you feel is low engine noise (almost none if you compare with old Scorpio), the gear does not give tingling in hand :-), yes it used to vibrate so much. Although it's old model, I recently made a Bangalore-Hyderabad-Ellora-Indore and Indore-Pune-Gokarna-Bangalore and people on road kept asking me the price and how good it looks. The only things I wish could be improved are: 1. There is no water bottle holder or mobile or wallet holder in front. My 2011 Scorpio had 4 water bottle holders and damn good space to hold other things. 2. The rear leg space. After XL6 and my wife has WRV, i feel really crammed up in the back seat. I thought of getting it modified but the way seats are attached it does not seem possible. Sincere request to Mahindra to improve these 2 things.

The Scorpio was conceptualized and designed by the in-house integrated design and manufacturing team of Mahindra & Mahindra. The car has been the recipient of three Indian awards, including the "Car of the Year" award from Business Standard Motoring as well as the "Best SUV of the Year" and the "Best Car of the Year" awards, both from BBC World's Wheels. Prior to the mid-1990s, Mahindra & Mahindra was an automobile assembly company. The company manufactured Willys Jeeps and its minor modified versions, with modifications carried out in India. In 1996, the company planned to enter the SUV segment with a new product that could compete globally. Since M&M did not have the technical knowhow to handle such an ambitious product, they devised an entirely new concept among Indian auto companies. Roping in new executives who had worked in the auto industry in western countries, such as Pawan Goenka and Alan Durante. The new Mahindra Scorpio SUV had all of its major systems designed directly by suppliers, with the only inputs from Mahindra being design, performance specifications and program cost. The design and engineering of the systems were carried out by suppliers, as well as testing, validation, and materials selection. Sourcing and engineering locations were also chosen by suppliers. The parts were later assembled in a Mahindra plant under the Mahindra badge, being a well-known brand in India. Using this method, the company was able to build from scratch a new vehicle with virtually 100 percent supplier involvement from concept to reality, at a cost of Rs 600 crore ($120 million),[4] including improvements to the plant. The project took five years to move from concept to final product. The cost was estimated in 2002 to be Rs 550 crore.[5]

It looks very bold and 8 out of 10 people will give you more attention. And it's maintenance cost is avarage not so high and service experience is fabulous even local mechanic can easily fix and parts of Scorpio is easily available around India. The only con I have is riding comfort the ride is very lumpy and it's infotainment system is very lagy.

The car has a superb, sporty, off-road appearance. really comfortable and roomy inside. The sunroof is modest yet adequate. The car is fantastic and has a tonne of features. In the end, it's a fantastic automobile with lots of features.

Sturdy vehicle...love to drive... however, needs better balancing technology... good for high thrust requirements... Good pick-up... Good vehicle in this price range... Less mileage compared to other family cars due to the large size of the engine.

Fabulous design with comfortable driving. Magnificent safety features are suitable for Indian roads, particularly for Indian villages. Low-cost maintenance and superb mileage with iconic interior and exterior attract a marvelous driving experience.

Mahindra should work on exterior comfort, overall experience was good, its one of my favourites, and planning to switch from tata to it, but having two issues as its price is a little high compared to others and also have seen many old Scorpio started looking dull after few years.
