Mahindra Scorpio [2009-2014] User Reviews

It was in Jan when I set my mind to buying a new SUV, I had spent a months researching and evaluating different type of cars  to choose something to suit my needs which were:

*Power and strength
*Reliability
*Suitable for long Drives
*Off-roading/trips
*decent fuel economy

all this with a budget of under 10 lacs

Also, the factor to consider was to avoid repeating my previous BIG mistake..that was to go for anything like the safari, which was a real pain to maintain. it bleeded my pockets as it broke down everytime.. selling it off gave me a huge sense of relief!

The launch of the new [mighty muscular 2009] scorpio got me interested but I was quite skeptical in the beginning. But looking into the details and getting a few reviews personally from a few people really gave me a strong feeling about this car and about how it might just be the ONE!

The interiors are well done and are as good as the safari with a few nice touches added to make it look impressive.

The maneuvering and power of the vehicle is something you feel it as soon as you start revving the engine, the handling is brilliant with climbs and no wonder these scorpio and mahindra jeep owners wrestle at their great escape events.. great stuff!

Long drives are very smooth in a scorpio, it never breaks down-- even in the toughest conditions. Good roads, Bad roads, potholes, rocks, slippery surfaces...the wheels keep grinding like an engine and they obey nothing but the driver-- which can be experienced when you hit the brakes at even high speeds. the feeling of complete control over your car and the road is simply amazing. With a scorpio I really feel like im dominating the road!

Now, its really got me thinkin..about their tagline "nothing else will do" :)

The fuel economy is perfect and the micro-hybrid start-stop tech thing is not just fancy, but it works decently.

Mahindra service standards have greatly improved over the years and definitely 10 times better than the tata ones.

Gettin the SCORP was the best decision I made; the power, the torque and the handling and the mileage..perfectly balanced out with the macho muscular looks ..all supported by the mahindra brand which is now creating waves in the world..with launches in australia, US... the new world-class SUV coming up next year. I purchased Scorpio in November 2006,and I face lot of problems from its Dealer in Chandigarh Swami Automobiles, for servicing I am sending my Scorpio to Goel Motors Mohali when it is opened in Mohali they did 3 - 4 services good but now a days the service of the daeler is going worst and  their Service in charge (VIKRAM UPADHAYA) doesn't know how to talk when i discuss my problem with him (while purcshasing one more Scorpio) on 9th May he is saying not to come here for service try out side in local market. best style , best interiors,

Scorpio is the another name of style, comfort and status. Today in style no car can stand against Scorpio. It has a look of sports vehicle with a high level comfort. In the way of interior if any car can beet the scorpio that only may be XYLO but scorpio is a ultimate option for any one who is looking for offroading. It's engine is so powerfull and reliable which gives the total value for the money to the end user. It may be some expensive but in comparision to other like TATA Safari it is much economical. I take the example of TATA Safari because that is only a good compitior of Scorpio.

If any time, I will have enough money, so that I will be able to purchase a SUV Car, I will only go for Scorpio. XYLO is also a good option but the Style doesn't match the Scorpio. It has every thing which a end user want.

Exterior Great looks, This SUV is a KING on the road. Trafice respects you, when you drive a SCORPIO.

 

Interior (Features, Space & Comfort) Could be better. Has the looks of a typical Indian made car (like the one TATA cars have).

 

Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox Too good - Still to figure out the fuel economy. The new Scorpio rightly tagged as 'Mighty Muscular' continues to retain Scorpio's worth and credibility in the market. It is introduced with a more powerful mHawk engine and revolutionary micro-hybrid technology. It also confirms to strict emission norms and makes the new Scorpio India's first BS IV car.

 

Ride Quality & Handling Very good - Look and Style The vehicle looks absolutely fabulous and with the new styling looks classy on the road.   Comfort It is really comfortable while driving it and once people are seated.

Final Words Overall a great buy, - Value form money, you can't get such a car for this money.

 

Areas of improvement Interiors could be a bit better.

 

Great looksHardly any

Exterior Exterior looks damn good, especially in diamond white. liked the body graphics shining in the sunlight. Exterior is maintained since its launch and it was modified twice. Hmmm eagerly waiting for 2014 scorpio.

Interior (Features, Space & Comfort) Features are too less for SLE model, No inbuilt ICE and Reverse parking, Space is a constraint if you opt for 3 row seating arrangment. Body roll is still their.

Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox Its a beast 120 PS powers will roar like lion :-) Fuel economy - average 14 kmpl, I achieved 15.6 KMPL :-)

Ride Quality & Handling Ride quality is too good and handling is damn easy.

Final Words I love my Scorpio. Awsome machine do buy once in a life time.

Areas of improvement Interior plastics and leg room must be improved in upcoming 2014 Scoprio model.

Good seating position, Mileage, Power and SuspensionLess leg room in third row, no audio system and speakers in SLE model :-(

Exterior Looks tough. Made for Indian roads. Interesting colour options. High ground clearance. Somewhat Noisy engine. Good designing. Dashing looks for it's price.

Interior (Features, Space & Comfort) Features: Features should have been more. Good space in first two rows. Terrible for the third row. Would rather advice to install 2 seats in last row. Nice voice commands. Neon Speeb board. Vipers sometimes scratch the windshield. Rear AC vents cool mostly the legs. Very powerful AC.

Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox Can't go to speeds more than 140kph. Bad fuel economy after 5 years of uše. Got only 5-7. After heavy maintenance got 8-10. Powerful diesel 2.6 turbocharged engine. A little noisy engine. Very good for a 2007 car. Easy overtaking. Smooth steering. Easy control.

Ride Quality & Handling Smooth steering. Easy control. Little tight clutch. Excellent ride quality and superb handling provided you get your wheel alignment checked from time to time.

Final Words Worth every penny. Excellent car by Mahindra for the year 2007 and the price quote of 13 lakhs. Beware of last row comfortablility. Powerful AC. Be careful of high maintenance.

i got a chance to drive the 4WD DX for a week in sikkim. Narrow roads in hilly terrain with local drivers plying on a high and me competing them made the DX chrrrrrrrrrr...... on curves. a u turn if negotiated beyond 40 kmph & s curve beyond 50 kmph - makes the wheel alignment of this SUV gone in flat 40 kms. Switch the 4 WD on & off for a few 20 odd times in 50 km and the front differential starts making noise at the time of switching it.

Its not meant to be treated hard or rough. if done so, just like other cars it starts making the whaaaak kaaaakkkk ...... and its called SUV.

Scorpio is very very good vehical & most comfitable for Long driving and for city driving. I drive this vehical from Mumbai to Chandigarh non stop the performance, the pickup & comfort level is very very good. I in no condition will change the vehical from scorpio to other.Very GoodGood interior
