I bought a Mahindra Scorpio 4 months back and has completed 4,000 KMs. This is my third car, after a Maruti-800 and Ford Ikon. Since the Ford is already with me, I thought of going for an SUV rather than another car.
The seating is excellent with good view and driving comfort. You can drive it on all roads-smooth or rough at the same speed. I could drive it to Kerala from Bangalore at record time. The ground clearance is very good making it apt for Indian roads. There are a lot of features working on sensors like tyretronics, headlights, wiper, etc. The cruise control is good only on a long drive.
Draw backs:
1) The 2nd & 3rd gear is very tough in the morning.
2) The interiors are not class.
3) The AC duct is given on the floor for the rear side. This should have been on the roof.
4) There is NO safety airbags
5) Mirrors are NOT electrically adjustable.
6) Sensors are given under the driver's seat without any proper cover or shield.
7) Most of the attachments are filmsy and gives you continuos trouble.
At the kind of price offered, customer definitely looks for better features and interiors
I have just given it for first service and hope it will be a better ride in future.

I had been twice to ladakh via manali and rohtang and once to kaza, tabu, rekong pio, self driven,i found the vehichle is easily handled even mud is upto 1-2feet in rainy season on mountains road of keylong and rohtang, baralchala pass, power is quite comfartable no need to press the peddal more, even i was caught in a fog at rohtang pass at 11 pm where visiblity was only few feet but inspite of muddy roads we were easily able to come out ,even on high altitude like lachungla pass(17500 feet) and talungla pass(18000 feet) scorpio was quite comfartable in power even oxygen was less,in all the rough terracian it was single self start and after puting new air filter vehicle was breathing in comfartable manner even on high altitude( actually in india the terracan is so difficult in interiors that u can not run your vehicle more than 50-60km so the need of 4-wheel drive is actually not required if u are driving sensibly, because any vehicle having engine-2.6 litre is having quite comfartable power to cross anything in lower gears, and brake system is quite effective in scorpio,so why to spend few good lakhs just to have 4 wheel drive which require may be in desert or in jungle safari, again your driving skills will be more helpfull in comparision to vehicle(try to put brakes in mud or ice in 4 wheel drive sorry nothing will save u from trouble)

Buy the scorpio Vlx which is the best of the series. Good Fuel Economy than other SUV's. Good Pickup due to powerful engine, cool features. But the problem this car will coz is that you will try to speed it because of the fun in it. You wont like its dull black interiors for sure.
Truly Value for money, Better than competition,Good Ground Clearance, Powerful Engine, Fuel Economyboring black Interirors, Scary to drive on high speeds.Exterior/Styles

Exterior Only Good Looking Indian SUV available to you in its class.
Interior (Features, Space & Comfort) Upholstery materials should have been of a bit better quality No arm rest. Center row Not fully inclining. Center row not so comfortable. ( No need to tell back seats). But all these problems are solved on Higher variants. A/C is good enough.
Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox Engine Powerful . I am getting 10.5 m / ltr normal Diesel with most of time a/c. With A/C it slack.
some times but its ok.
Ride Quality & Handling Its a Driver Enjoyable vehicle . Excellent controls . There is no window Winder switches and manual winder at doors . I doubt this will be a problem in Emergency.
Final Words Overall I am satisfied with this Monster when it ticks 14000 kms over a 12 months time.
Areas of improvement Interior material Quality should improve a bit better. Should have installed a small lamp inside the bonnet, which is helpful at night. Head Lights will be better if its brighter a bit more.
The Best looking SUV in its class . Truly Indian . Powerful . Cost Effective .Interiors and Upholstery. Window winder switches only given in center. No Manual Window winder .

Exterior Like a bigger car like Aria or Captiva. The rear style is somewhat same to the old model.
Interior (Features, Space & Comfort) The interiors are like a bigger car like Pajero,Aria and Prado or Audi Q7 too! The features are high class, like Cruise Control,Bluetooth,USB and AUx-in ports,Electronic Tyre Pressure Monitor. But it dosen't end here! Parking sensors,Intellipark reverse system,Steering Audio Controls,Leather Seats and Power Mirrors. But the space is poor and that is offence to my big and full equipped SUV.The comfort is not better than Innova.
Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and GearboxThe engine is the new MHawk BS4 techolonogy and the FE is good. The gear is hard but slick.
Ride Quality & Handling Ride is best in class but handling not best.
Final Words Go for it.The new Scorpio MHawk Special edition is better. The looks, features, price and all things are good. It is best if you have less adults at your family.
Areas of improvement Comfort,Space,Rear Looks and Handling the Same as Before.

Exterior Good looks but paint and material quality is very poor, welding spot on body are visible on every door, tail light fittings are not good.
Interior (Features, Space & Comfort) Very poorly designed interiors shear waste of space, could have done much much better. fibre and rubber quality used is not up to the mark, fittings are not in proper alignment.
Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox Excellant engine performance very good pick up and power output, probably the best engine Mahindra has in its stable, not satisfied with the gears though. good fuel economy for its class : city 10 to 12 kmpl and highway 14 to 16 kmpl but thats with my driving.
Ride Quality & Handling Handling is very good and ride could have been very good if someone can stop the rattling of doors and seats, little cramped on middle and last row, specially last row leg space is very less.
Final Words A beautiful vehicle not made to the mark by Mahindras, could have done much better with a little care.
Areas of improvement Quality of fittings, finish of paint, interior designing.
Good Exteriors, pickup and powervery poor interior designing, could have utilized the space more sensibly

Exterior The muscular look of the Scorpio gives it a good presence on the road and command respect from other drivers.
Interior (Features, Space & Comfort) The seats though rigid, are comfortable. The quality of plastic used for dashboard and elsewhere appears cheap and the fitment are mediocre, The leg space for the thrd row seats is not sufficient, especially for tall people. I could make my vehicle's seat comfortable by fitting new covers with soft foam fills.
Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox Engine performance is good, though it lalcks power with AC on for a qucik overtake. I get the specified fuel economy easily. It, ofcourse to a certain extent, depends on the driving style. Gear shift initially, after an overnight stop, is hard and after ten or fifteen KMs becomes very smooth. In heavy trafic, frequent shifting may become necessary due to reduced torque in top gears.
Ride Quality & Handling Ride quality is good in highways. In rough roads it rolls uncomfortably, may be due to its soft shock absorbers. My friends tell me that it can be improved by replacing the shockers with high performance ones like Bilsteins. Ease of handling is the best feature I like. It can be manouvred like a small car in busy and narrow streets.
Final Words Overall it is very a good and reliable feature rich vehicle in its price band. I have no regret in opting for it.
Areas of improvement High pperformance shock sbsorbers are a necessity to reduce the rolling. Improve quality and fitment of plastic and redesign the dashboard center console to include a multifuction display system, like rear view camera and sat nav. Use atifog glass for front windows and ORVMs. Its height and width calls for side and front distance sensors. A strip of dayflx LEDs around front fog lights will tremendously improve its exterior looks.
Fuel economy, ease of handling in city roads and country roadsLess power to overtake with AC on, Poor side and rear visibility in heavy rainExterior/Styles

Exterior
good exterior and looks robust and sturdy
Interior (Features, Space & Comfort)
good looking but lacks boot space
Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox
the engine performance is good but unreliable due to frequent breakdown as clutch assembly is ver bad , fuel economy is bad and shifting of gears is hard compared to other vehicles of this class
Ride Quality & Handling
ride quality is good ann handling is easy
Final Words
the vehicle is very unrealiable and iam very afraid to take for long drives as its clutch assemble is horrible and unfit... ur service providers nor the company is deaf on these complaints and got used to throw the buck on the cutomerrs as they keep the foot on the clutch pedal .. this not acceptable,,, it is a manufacturing fault...as this fault has occured at 500 kms and 10000 kms also. the cost of maintenance is is very high due to frequent cluth failure and is also dangerous.
Areas of improvement
the clutch assembly should be improved as per quality norms . the manufactures quarentee 3 laksh kms
good styleclutch assembly problem bad make
