Exterior
Its not a stunner but you will fall in love with it over time, looks better than a xylo and looks more like a conventional SUV as compared to the Ford Ecosport, Renault Duster.
The bottom line is it looks Strong, Robust and ready for Abuse.
Interior (Features, Space & Comfort)
Massively Spacious, very comfortable front seats, mid row seats are a bit upright but good under-thigh support (my model does not have folding seats which is an impedement), last row is okay for short trips and perfect for kids, minar clanky noises as seen in almost all mahindra Suvs, well equipped and the music system from Nippon does a good job, the dash could have been made jazzier with new styling and better use of plastics (not the worst, there are whole lot of worse plasticy dash sold in India on the pretext of cost cutting), loads of convenience features (3 charge point, plenty of cup and bottle holders, under seat drawer) and i absulutely love the aeroplane like food trays.
Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox
Its a downsized mHawk which is a proven machine, fairly powerful and pulls well and the dual stage turbo is brilliant, the clutch is however a little heavy but i guess it comes with M&M territory and so does the rubbery gear shift (and again its not the worst,ie, ever driven a SUMO??), however, saying so the gear throw is quite good and works well at higher revs. But, the gear and engine needs taming (higher gear lower revs, and the car will want to throw you out with all the knocking, drive the Amaze 1.5 I-DTEC, you'll understand what i mean). Finally fuel efficiency, I participated in a rally when the car was about 3 months old and i gt a mileage of 20Kmpl, that aside i live in a congested city like Calcutta and traffic is a right nuisance so 11 kmpl inside the city highways again i have managed between 17 - 20 kmpl.
Ride Quality & Handling
It needs taming, its like a dog that listens to its master only. Ride quality is good but hard at times but thats granted because it's on the INGENIO platform (hard suspension), glides over potholes and bumps and speed breakers, dampers do make a thudding noise initially but settles down as the suspension settles down and the car gets slightly older. Its a pretty comfortable ride.
As for handling well it can scare a new driver, the steering is not the most responsive in the world. Now, I have heard people complaint about body roll...really? Have such people driven ladder on frame chasis SUVs before?? Scorpio, Bolero, Sumo, Safari, Pajero, LandCruiser, they all have body roll. Such cars never handle corners well at high speeds, so don't complaint just be a better driver ;)
The wheels should have been 16 inches but then again its built on the Ingenio platform and the XYLO runs on 215/75 R15 tyres while Quanto runs on 205/65 R15.
Final Words
Honest car - definitely value for money, definitely an SUV, can do stuff a hatchback can only dream of so branding it as a hatchback is probably being a little harsh on Mahindra.
The looks tend to grow on you with time
Areas of improvement
Last row seats, now they have the yoga seats so thats all good, better dash, could provid decent fog lamps (its really run of the mill quality), rear roof blowers, airbags should be made compulsory for all models.
Ample space, Fairly powerful engine - pulls well, excellent suspension, well equipped for its priceGawky, cramped 3rd row seats and non folding middle seats, heavy clutch, rubbery gear shift

Exterior
Interior (Features, Space & Comfort) Feature packed and Spacious in Front and rear. Take a long ride to realise that rear seat is cushy and confortable. EASILY seat 3 big bear; Upright position is rather helpful for long distance traveling. Micro hybrid is a great help in city trafic and so is digital & versatile driver information system. Critics looking for big space in 3rd row please list a SUV within 8.5 lakh budget?
Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox 1496 CC aluminium engine with double turo ensures no lag. It is absolute power as you press the padel. Drive between 1600 - 1800 rpm for great fuel economy. I touch 25+ on highway between 1600- 1800 rpm 75-80KM per hr in 5th gear. 200+ at 100KM per hr.
Ride Quality & Handling Wow. Ride is comfort pleasure and power. Handeling is smooth except that horn is a little hard and gear stick needs time to get used to.
Final Words Absolute value for money - plus you have power comfort and alot more.
Areas of improvement Horn and gear stick can be made smooth. Accessories like Bull guards not available at show rooms.

Exterior Looking good , but if tail light is more attractive it wll raise the market demand.and also the poor thing is inner curve depresion on fender if the same is positive side it will look more cool same problem with Xylo.
Interior (Features, Space & Comfort) Very nice as it costs , space leg room and all comfort related points are awesome.
Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox performance of vehicle is good, fuel economy compairing to seating capacity is some what in acceptable limit.
Ride Quality & Handling Ride & handling is good.
Final Words Go for it.chassis mounted vehicle is more safe compairing to body mounted and its chassis mounted means more rigid more safe. on long drive travel it is comfortable , you feel relax after traveling for 5 6 + hrs.
Areas of improvement Exterior should be class A for looking like a personal vehicle, other than that Weight of the vehicle is more need to focus on the same.

Exterior Dashing like SUV in such a price . Specially the back look is excellent, the height of car is also nearly to xylo.
Interior (Features, Space & Comfort) Not bad but still the copy of xylo but fit for this price tag.
Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox Already purchased Quanto last week, everything is OK but for fuel on road is nearly 15 and in city it gives 12-13 with AC.
Ride Quality & Handling Superb already have renault duster feels same while riding both car and Duster is already high in price for about 2.5 lakhs than quanto.
Final Words Finally saying that the renault dealers have no commitment about delievery , the car launched for Test drive at 7th July , I already booked on 26 th June , their commitment was to give the car before 30th July but they have given me on 27th August, many people were fighting for delievery period dealers booked the model RXe but not a single car delievered by company. Serviced duster at 1000kms not as per commitment but still not serviced my mahindra ,expecting better service than renault as its my first experience with both the Suvs. I think Mahindra Quanto is value for Money . Excellent job done by Mahindra.

I am driving Quanto C8 from last two years and feel that I have been cheated with a worthless product. The car is not at all smooth to drive. The company has not tested the car before launching. In last two years I have experienced 5-6 major breakdowns. Everytime a breakdown occurs, i convince myself that probably this is a one-off and nothing will happen in future. But the car has some genuine problems with turbo charger, shaft, gear box. Body paint is pathetic unlike maruti cars which does catch scratch marks so easily.
I will advise not to buy this car and regret later. I also read a number of reviews before purchasing this car, but none of the reviewer had driven it long enough for me to consider. The company should take back the sold units and compensate to improve reputation. I have driven/owned maruti and hyundai cars and none of them gave so much trouble.

Exterior MY EXPERIENCE WITH MAHINDRA QUANTO SUV,A TEST DRIVE REVIEW·
War for hatch backs is picking up pace and atmosphere is every time charged up for the launch of the new cars every now and then with india being the prospective market for brand leaders like Toytota, suzuki, chevrolet honda and renault jumping in to the drag race for revealing their new products in the indian market. Market fot SUV is touching sky in view of the balance of convenience shiftring towards the use of diesel oil burners owing to the ever increasing hike in the petrol prices. It may not be out of place to mention the indian car makers like Mahindra and Tata are neck to neck in competition with exotic car manufacturers and in a process of time have come up with SUVS" like safari, scorpio, XUV 500, xylo and Aria being at the fore front. Car makers like toyota has already tasted the success of their popular brand Toyota innova, tata with their safari and mahindra with their scorpio have been the attractions of prospective indian byers who rely upon the concept of more car per car.It may be apt to mention that despite of the success and competition thrown, segment leaders are ever hungry for the release of their new products, particularly when the concept of compact hatch is gaining attention and for that matter Renault, french car manufacturer has come up with their new compact SUV called duster. Skoda too has launched its mini SUV called yeti in the market. But with all this the point to make here is as to whether they are able to give us the vehicle, light on pocket to purchase. If price is to be considered these SUVS are priced high with respective price tag of 10 lakh and 14 lakh respectively. Every time the question would arise as to whether any of the auto makers would come up with a compact SUV in the lower price bracket. Mahindra in a bid to muster its strength has come up with its first compact SUV called Mahindra quanto, which though is a xylo made short with very minute changes to take note of. So this car has been recently launched in india with the price tag of 6.24 lakh rupees for base variant and up to 7.76 lakhs for the top C8 version which comes fully equipped with ABS, EBD, and air bags, both for pessenger and the driver seats. In response to it I decided to proceed ahead towards my nearest local Mahindra dealer to have a glimpse and to examine this new SUV with lesser price tag suited for my pocket though. I rushed straight away to the nearest dealer in srinagar, shuhul automobiles on bye pass road to see as to whether the vehicle is reasonably justified for its price or not. Reaching the main gate and parking my car there was followed by my sight catching the attention of this new launch from Mahindra stable, as it was parked right inside the permises of the show room. Without wasting any time, I initially took some snaps of the car and headed with its examination. External appearence of the car is nothing to talk about,as it is a xylo which has been shortened at the back to avail the excise benefits and to keep the pricing very low. The car measures 3985 mm in length. This sub four meter SUV is slightly modified at the back without any significant and noticable change as tail is slightly different from its predecessor, the xylo. The front look of the car is totally unchanged and is an xylo in front, while as rest other dimensions have also been unchanged. the built quality of the car is not up to the mark, as to make it cost effective the material used is light and cheap which makes the car as not to appear sturdy and well built. Interior quality too has suffered as the dash resembles the one used in xylo but the plastic quality here is pathetic and looks and feels cheap, but how ever the light biege trim gives it a more airy feel. The dash assembly has lot of panel gaps and it appears that console and the dash has been layed hurriedly, lacking fit and finish. It is no way at par with the likes of Renault duster, and for that matter other SUVS", but now the again the price is very low on that count. Except for some bottle holders there is no such space available to keep ur daily stuff while on a trip. Seats are only fabric and even the highest variant of this SUV lacks leather upholestery. Now coming towards the drive train, the engine is a three cylinder twin turbo oil burner under the hood which churns out 99 bhp of power at 4000 rpm. Starting the car makes engine to appear noisy a bit with clatters seeping in even when the windows were rolled up,but the idling noise subsided after some time and engine felt a bit calm. This 1.5 littre DCI unit, has low end torque delivery, but is noisy in ist two gear shifts but feels quite decent and refined after that in higher gears, and the acceleration is rather linear, though turbo lag is evident below 1500 rpm, but then engine comes to life and pulls decently when reved above 2500 rpm. This is the point where I could feel turbo kicks in again and mid range torque is available right from that point till 3700 RPM, when engine feels out of breath after that point. So to keep engine alive after that is a hefty process and on high ways to manouver this Suv, needs frequent gear shifts to make an over take ventures. Still the performance if not outright is not bad though, keeping in mind that I was driving a 3 cylinder 1.5 litre DCI unit. What else I could have expected from this engine from Bosch. The car does not handle well at the corners and reflects lot of body roll particularly when thrown around the corners, which can be bit risky on speedy drives, and steering feels light and not composed with the gush of the gas pedal.More specefic to say, city driving would be an ease on this compact SUV, but lacks high way composure.Over all at this price tag, the vehicle is justified for the price tag I think. For the customers who intend to purchase this SUV I would like to suggest them C6 variant which comes with price tag of 6.71 lakh, and purchasing any variant above it would be unjustified, since c8 top variant is priced at 7.76 lakh and for that price one is very near to likes of scorpio and safari, which start at the price just above 8 lakh or so for the base variant, which I feel would be a sensible buy then.
Ride Quality & Handling It is too pathetic.
Final Words Still better for price tag it has.
Areas of improvement Mahindra needs to work on ride and handling of this SUV,and interior fit and finish too.
