Lotus Cars is a British sports car manufacturer that is known for its lightweight, two-door sports cars for almost 75 years. Founded in 1948 by Colin Chapman, Lotus is now owned by Chinese brand Geely Automotive Group, which also owns other automotive brands such as Volvo, Polestar, Zeekr, Smart, and Livan. Having a major presence in Formula 1, some of its motorsport expertise was seen in iconic models such as the Elise, Elan, Esprit, Europa, and the Exige.
The current line-up of the brand includes the Emeya, Emira, and the Eletre, of which the latter has already been launched in the country. The Emira, on the other hand, is in the pipeline and scheduled to be launched in late 2024.
The automaker’s focus has currently shifted to electrification and their first electric hypercar was the Evija. Introduced back in July 2019, the Evija’s talking point was its power output of 1,983bhp and 1,704Nm. Lotus has also helped many other global car makers in developing and refining their products. The Hennessey Venom GT, Tesla Roadster, Nissan GT-R, DMC Delorean, Toyota MR2, Aston Martin DB9, and the Mahindra Scorpio are just some of these cars.
Currently, the sales and services of Lotus Cars will be handled by Exclusive Motors, New Delhi, and it will retail three variants of the Eletre, namely Standard, S, and R in the country.
