Exterior Horizontal proportions are observed quite accurately - except that the feed is rounded much more sharply than any other Jaguar: if you glance at the car in profile, then it starts swiftly and. Suddenly ends. So suddenly, that the fifth door was provided with a mandatory spoiler: if you look at the javelin beaten up to triviality with a real cat, then the spoiler plays the role of a full tail - remove it, and the tailless cat will lose the share of his charm.

L-shaped profile of the fifth door due to the reverse slope of the lower part allowed to reduce the rear overhang without affecting the appearance. Another extremely successful solution in the rear part of the steel are the exhaust pipes, which are located between the lower edge of the bumper and the edge of the tailgate - being high-browed, they become a full-fledged stylistic element.

Sitting in the car, incidentally, you mark the thresholds, carefully covered with doors with a seal on the bottom: the practicality of this trifle increases many times in our slushy conditions.

Interior (Features, Space & Comfort) Climbing inside, you can settle down "at home" in a couple of minutes: the seats do not bother with anatomical restrictions but are rather deep, and lateral support is sufficient. The cushion of the seat without the popliteal cushion is short: for a comfortable fit, the roller has to be pushed out as far as it will go.

Well, another thing: already in motion one small feature is revealed - the absence of handles above the doorways. Apparently, they too were excluded as an "unaesthetic" element, but ... hell, on this machine I want to travel so that the passenger will have to look for support points, and in the absence of a handle he has to hold his left hand to a beautiful jumper on the center console, and the second - to grasp, for what it is necessary.

Behind "plafonds" are switched on by mechanical pressing. Boring, but useful nuance: the back seat is folded in a proportion of 60:40.

The notorious joystick gearbox on one of the cars had a tiny but noticeable backlash. Secondly, the buttons on the steering wheel (on one of the cars) were surprised by the creaking when pressed: the quality of fitting these small parts turned out to be "non-exclusive". Thirdly, Jaguar claims that the car is "equipped with all the latest technological innovations", including the abundantly distributed in the salon 12-volt outlets and USB-ports, as well as a 4G access point that allows you to distribute the Internet on Wi-Fi for 8 devices, but a comfortable bed in the bottom of the center console is left without a pending wireless charging.

Engine Performance, Fuel Economy, and Gearbox Before moving on to the actual loosening of the psyche and the vestibular apparatus of the front passenger, it is worthwhile examining the means by which this result is achieved. Such a massager you definitely need https://www.bestadvisor.com/car-massager At first glance, everything is modest here: only two-liter engines. However, in Jaguar explain: it's not a bug, but a feature, because it's about the family Ingenium, and the power here varies widely. So, the base diesel produces 150 hp, and the top-end gasoline engine - exactly twice as much. In European versions, diesel engines for 150 and 180 hp. can be combined with a mechanical box, and a 150-horsepower - also with a front-wheel drive, but...

But the engines are all in place: the 150-strong diesel unit opens the line, followed by a 180-strong version, and the most powerful version is "inflated" to 240 hp. and 500 Nm. Gasoline versions - not for the economic: the power here only begins with 249 hp. (well, yes, it will still be possible to save on taxes), but it is crowned by a 300-strong unit that gives 400 Nm of torque from 1,200 rpm. And how here do without a handle on the door?

An interesting situation with a full drive: here they are offered as many as two. And the whole point is that Jaguar engineers went the hard way: they first created a problem for themselves and then proceeded to its heroic resolution. Design a car with a transverse arrangement of the engine and front drive in the base, then add a full drive, and then diligently instill in him the habits of the rear-wheel drive machine? Oh yes, this is what you need. And it happened!

True, with reservations and not too simple means. "Low-power" petrol and diesel cars are equipped with a "basic" all-wheel drive with a Haldex coupling, which, if necessary, throws back as much torque as necessary to continue confident movement. But this is not about active driving, is it? So, Jaguar engineers decided and created the Active Driveline system, in which the rear wheel drive is organized individually through two electronically controlled friction clutches, allowing to transfer up to 100% of the torque to any of them.

In practice, all this abracadabra turns into the fact that the machine can indeed be sent into a skid, and even monitor it. Moreover, if the system recognizes understeer during the rotation, it will add torque to the outer wheels, "turning" the car on the arc.

The Active Driveline system is available for the most powerful engines on each type of fuel: 240-horsepower diesel and 300-horsepower gasoline. It, however, adds not only drive but also weight: such cars are 60-80 kg heavier than less powerful ones. However, E-Pace is basically not too much about lightweight: of course, the excess weight was partially thrown off by the aluminum hood, the roof, and the fifth door, but the structure of the body is entirely steel, and the curb weight of the car varies from 1,832 to 1,926 kilograms.

Of course, another portion of aluminum is enclosed in the suspension. And if phrases like "rotary fists of hollow aluminum" cause awe (and not so) horror, then the front stretcher, rigidly connected with the body, and increased camber may well bring a positive result without unnecessary sacrifices. In addition, in the advanced versions of the adaptive suspension is available, increasing the degree of controllability by adjusting the damping depending on the road surface.

Ride Quality & Handling The petrol version is definitely better in all senses. Not a bad crossover. You can even drive a wade half a meter high. Very disappointed with the sham sound of the engine, YES, this is a soundtrack. In the world, there is nothing real left.

Final Words In the absence of serious ergonomic and functional drawbacks, the main issue in the salon is the choice of color and finishing materials.

Areas of improvement Well! Princes of blood are no longer observed - so now you can turn a noble Jaguar into a banal crossover or whatever it is called, a tuxedo is not needed for it, jeans with dirty knees - and forward, assert itself, prove to the world its steepness! Complete degradation of the world brand! Sorry noble Jaguar!
