Hyundai Xcent [2014-2017] User Reviews

This car is good on many aspects, but I found 2 defects in it - 

(a) The brakes are pretty sharp, especially during the first 10-15 mins of the drive. Even a light press to slow down the vehicle brings it to a grinding halt. Sometimes I worry if some vehicle would hit it from the back due to such grinding halt; 

(b) Plastic smell of interiors. Its been almost 2 months since I purchased this vehicle, but the plastic smell still prevails and some times its quite irritating when A/c is put on by closing all the windows;

When I complained about the brakes issue during the first service, the service representative acknowledged that it is a known issue in Xcent & Grand i10, but mentioned that it should gradually improve. When it didn’t improve, I raised a complaint on their website. The service center representative and his manager visited my place and took a test ride. They too acknowledged that in my specific case the brakes are too sharp, but tried to explain me that it is intended and Hyundai wanted it that way. According to me this is a design flaw, which Hyundai is refusing the acknowledge and trying to brush it under the carpet.

A car is expected to slow down during the run when brakes are slightly applied and is expected to stop when they are hard pressed. If that is not happening, then it doesn’t matter what technology they used and in what way they intended to have it. Looks like this is serious lapse on their side regarding the basic safety feature. What-ever fantastic features they may build, but when the basic need of brakes is flawed then every thing else just evaporates into thin air.

Good Interiors, engine performance & PriceBrakes, plastic odor

1. Purchased 2014, August at Advait Hyundai, BG road. Experience not good. Charged 4000 extra for getting number. Sold to me telling all new features. 2. Driving comfort is very good 3. Looks good, Rear seat is better than other cars in the same class 4. AC is not good. The gas refilled many times. It works only a few months. During the summer, it's bad. The fuel economy falls rapidly. The authorized service centre at Mysore is very bad ( past 2 years using in Mysore). Trying to take help from TVS service, but not very good. Past two months using without AC (due to COVID-19) no service available. 5. Both fuel economy bad and service cost is higher.

The vehicle's overall performance is good though I didn't find it as comfrtable as i10 whic has a poerful rear ac effect; its interior is good; exterior though not great in styling it is not bad; the avrage mileage after 4000km running and one service is reasonably good (petrol model); it gives around 13-14 km in the city drivng and on the highway it varies from 16-18km/l.

The absence of EBD is felt very much.

The interior is good and makes you feel comfortable.

The music system is excellent.

Blue tooth connectivity is good.

The horn is very bad, I ahd to replace it with Root's horn.

The boot space is good.

The major disadvantage is that though the comapny has said all alloy wheels, the spare wheel is not having alloy wheel; it is an ordinary wheel; the dealer says it is the same for all the vehicles. I would like to know others's experience. Otherwise it is a good vehicle.

Exterior Exterior is good. Paint quality is good.

Interior (Features, Space & Comfort) Interior is very decent with black and biege colour. Very spacious and accomodates 5 persons including the driver. Music system is good. Defogger, ABS, rear seat arm rest and alloy wheels are available in the mid version which is not available in other cars like Dzire and Amaze. Both the front and rear seats are comfortable with ample leg room. The glove box is also very spacious.

Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox Engine is very smooth. Have completed 500 kms. within 15 days. Fuel economy is very decent i.e. 14 kmpl( tank full to tank full ) with AC in city driving. Haven't gone out of city so can't comment on mileage on the highway. The mileage in city will increase by 1 to 1.5 kmpl as the car completes 3000kms. This is my experience as i have noticed that in my previous cars. Gear shifting is also very smooth. I can say this because i also own a Dzire ZDI model.

Ride Quality & Handling Ride quality is good. But, I think Hyundai should work on the suspension. Here my Dzire scores more. Handling is good and the power steering is excellent. 

Final Words Feature packed car compared to the price. Great leg room and luggage space. decent interiors and smooth ride and handling. A true value for money car.

Areas of improvement Slight modification in the front suspension. Dual horn should have been provided.

Interior (Features, Space & Comfort) In features the best part is the rare A/C vents ...pretty good Boot space ,And also comfortable.

Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox Smooth & very Nice 

Ride Quality & Handling Excellent very good on turning.

Final Words I have made a very good decision buying this car and also got excellent Customer service from Mithila Hyundai.

Areas of improvement Some complemantry Accessories by Hyundai like leather folder to keep the car related papers. Hyundai Air freshner whic should have a common fagrance throughout all the cars. Yes its definately value for money and a right decision to buy this car the maintance is very low. The breaking is little urgent but once you get the first service done and you get use to it evey things is good. Plus I was informed in advance about the features and that was what I was looking for before buying. And the same time when i took the test drive at Mithila Hyundai they explained me all the features and same time the convineced me for the car and I was very happy with the services.

Exterior

 Attracted in the first look. Best in Class compared to other 3 manufacturers. Day time running light can be provided for a Sedan type car.

Interior (Features, Space & Comfort)

Featured with tons of facilities feels like a premium car with Comfort. Cabin space is quite bigger to relax. Especially the boot space with 407 ltrs is the best, which i have baby to take loads of things for their journey.Cabin design is much better with the  Next gn i10 i m having.

Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox

 Performance is verygood with the petrol engine which is fully noiseless. Fuel economy is just loving. i m getting upto 20kmpl. Gearbox is smooth.

Ride Quality & Handling

 As i m having i10 with me, again i have choosed hyundai for their handling and riding quality.

Final Words

 Not just good value for money, best car for the segment compare to Dezire, Zest, Amaze.

Areas of improvement

 Have to rectify the problem of Turbo Lag. Other wise good.

Good Fuel Economy, Good lookingTurbo Lagging

Look of the car is average but interiors are impressive.It has got lot of features within good price range.Pickup of the car is also good but ground clearence is bit annoying.Average but not the best among this price range.

Exterior Depend on personal taste, so far so good.

Interior (Features, Space & Comfort) Best in class interiors, tons of features and quite comfortable.

Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox Engine is quite peppy and rev happy. I especially lyk the soundtrack it makes when revved hard. fuel economy isnt good, mine is giving 9kmpl only dnt know if itz the case with my car only as most of the reviewers say abt 15kmpl. though hav driven it close to 1450 kms and itz time for its 1st service, just hoping mileage will improve after that. gear box is quite smooth, a bit notchy when shifting to 2nd sometimes.

update: after 1600 kms and first service i decided to check the mileage once again and to my surprise it came out to be 16.4kmpl overall. finally i am relieved, love my xcent.

Ride Quality & Handling like it pretty much and is better than my previous hyundai which was i10.

Final Words a good value for money car.

Areas of improvement nothing.

A huge list of creature comfort, practicality.nothing i didn't lyk.

 the car is loaded with features, very good leg space for rear passenger,rear a/c vents,rear charging points,bluetooth connectivity,stearing mounted controls,suggestive gear shift inticator,very nice interior,tilt steering,driver seat adjustment,alloy wheels,ABS,auto door lock on high speed,reverse parking sensors..all this at a price tag of 6.50 on road...........

Final Words

 This car is value for money having all latest features and fuel economy.Also ita interiors are far better than amaze and sail.Its tall boy desigh helps in getting in and out with ease.i think Hyundai will increase the price of this car in near future, bcoz they are giving too much at comparatively low price.There is button on remote key to open boot
