Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox I tested my Hyundai car as follows.

    1. I started the car and keep engine running at idle (neutral ) for about 10 minutes on a normal day (temp around 27 degree centrigade and no visible wind, AC off, windows closed). THe observed RPM is 800

    2. Then I changed the gear and using acclerator and on a plane road shifted to 6th gear and speed of around 65kmph. The RPM is just above 1000

    3. I released the accelerator pedal and then found that the car keeps on moving at the speed of 60kmph (in sixth gear), rpm around 1000.

    4. It may be a great safety risk as IS 14283 says that the throttle must return to low idle position when accelerator pedal is released. Even if we consider that because of momentum the car continue to run at around  60kmph but engine should eventually return to idle and therefore the car should as well reduce speed

I wonder, how a car can run at around speed of 60kmph in idle. I am asking the company to check it and correct but they are not replying at all.

I have read somewhere that engine speed, throttle, and vehicle speed are directly related and without leaving the idle the car can not speed upto 60kmph. Interested people may look for IS 14283 (Accelerator COntrol System - safety requirement). I dont know whom to approach for redressal but I feel that some engineer or COmpany should give explanation on this.

    Ride Quality & Handling Average.

Final Words Please ask company to let people know that why its car keep on moving at the speed of 60kmph when no accelerator is used. It means that in comparison to other cars (which doesnt run at this high speed without using Accelerator pedal) Hyundai Verna or other variants are more prone to accidents and also the impact velocity will be high because even after releasing accelerator pedal the car keep on moving at 60 kmph in 6th gear.

In addition the car is running at a specific speeed in each gear and therefore most of the time in city you will be driving the car with clutch and gear . The company didnt tell anywhere that in city its car is to be handled with clutch and gear only.

This results is more wear and tear of clutch, clutch of my car stucks in depressed position three four times and then company hanged it saying that they had messaged all customers to get master and slave cylinders changed , but i am unable to believe them.

A the same time when control of accelerator has been taken away from driver till 60kmph then in the event of accident who will be responsible the car (i.e. company) or the driver. Also will the insurance companies honour the insurance as they may say that car is having some defect.

Kindly ask HYundai to clarify this issue before making a decision to purchase.

Areas of improvement Engine must be improved so that as soon as accelerator is released the throttle returns to idle within stipulated time.

Interior and shapeProbably not following Accelerator Control System - system requirement
