Performance,Good A/cBiege interiors gets dirty very soon,poor headlamps.

i have had a good logn test drive on the Verna VGT CRDi quite some months ago but was lazy to post a review on it! well heres all about it from my side!

The Verna is stylish , but lacks dual chamber headlight of the Fiesta , styling of Verna is decent and resanobly good , but when comapred with Fiesta , the FIesta has an edge over it in Styling

THe Performance of the Verna Diesel is tooo good and simply stunning! i say its even better than its Petrol Sibling ( Verna petrol ) and the enormous power is simpkly outstanding and i would never feel like giving up such a gem!(from the Performance point of view )

The Interior is quite god , but a few but of control feels a bit cheap but as said resaonably good , the biege interiors are good and makes you feel better!

Fuel economy is good with 13 kmpl in city and 17-18 on the highways!

The Whole package looks simply great but the Pricing is a bit high and there are some good features missing for this price! if i missed otu soemthing woudl post later !

Fuel Economy , PowerFeatures!

I m driving my verna XI for last 15 months with extended warranty for 4 years with odometer reading about 10,000km.During september car underwent 3rd free servicing in Oja Hyundai, Guwahati.and as per the dealer car was certified perfect. Now few days back my driver noticed rusting over the silencer drum and water leakage is there. Immediately i took the car to the dealer and what i had been told there was quite astonising.According to them rusting is not because of any manufacturing defect but it is due to less running of the car.So from now onwards I shall have to run the car unneccessarily and burn fuel only to keep hyundai car in good condition. Moreover they have practically denied the fact that rusting of the silencer does not come under warananty cover for replacement. So i will have to bear Rs 9600/= plus labour charge every year to run verna b'cos rusting is due less running of car and i don't have enough time to run the car unnecessarily. I have enquired in a local Maruti dealer and shown them the problem they inform me that till now not a single SX4 has come with such problem and they would have certainly replace the thing under waranty cover without delay b'cos there is no dent or no sign of road traffic accident. Anyway I am waiting for the parts to arrive and the sevice manager of the dealer has written the matter to the company hoping to get reply soon. Now its not a matter of money but the matter of after sale service by the multi national automobile company to indians.So can anybody suggest. I am yet to write to the company waiting the reply i get from the dealer.  Good interior both look n quality, very refined engine, good road handlingPoor initial punch and very poor after sale service

      I got my Verna delivered on 26 Oct 09 Trident Hyundai Bangalore. Initially i had no idea how good the car was. I used to drive only in my locality. Recently, when i had to fix the number plate, i need to go on Highway. That's whee i felt the real power of Verna when compared to all other cars. The look was good and even the performance. Now i think i am satisfied with my choice.

Since i liked everything in my vehicle i would like to mention only the cons. They are:
-> Fuel efficiency
-> No Air bags
-> No USB or AUX-IN for music system
-> Rear wiper

The best thing which i liked is the Chrome Grille. It surely adds to the styling of the car. I have seen many new cars without it (old cars didn't have) and want to know if that can be stolen. Because i don't want to lose it.

Exterior Looks are very enviable & makes head turn. Aerodynamically designed that cuts through air currents without any feeling of discomfort or drag in either direction. The chrome plated strip on the doors is like the necklace simmering on a newly wed bride. The head lights shape up like a Chinese damsel with mascara lined on the eye lashes. The wheel caps further enhances the looks on strong radials. The bonnet profile is curvy & enables clear view of road ahead.

 

Interior (Features, Space & Comfort) Plush interiors giving a pampered feeling to occupants. Rear riders are comfortable with leg space & has liberal width for three. The arm rest is a boon with space for holding cold drink glass. The music system is finely crafted for voice modullations & note synergy. Additional tweeters give a good surround sound effect. Beige interiors with beige seat covers give it a rich look. Motorised rear view mirrors is very helpful especially during parking at low dividers. Very powerful air conditioner with nicely crafted louver positions.

 

Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox Fuel efficiency could have been better. Currently it is at around 11 to 12 in city driving while 13 to 14 for highway driving. The engine revs up effortlessly to cruize at high speeds. I have driven at peak speeds of 140 kmph on Mumbai Pune Expressway but maintains the stability & ride remains free of vibrations & engine noise inside the cabin. A look at the speedometer is the only way to realize that you are cruizing at 140 kmph speed. However, fuel efficiency goes for a toss at speeds higher than 80 kmph. Manouverability is excellent making it a good city car. All round viewing is made easy because of side viewing glass window & also clear rear view. Prismatic rear view mirror makes it easy to view thro high beam head lights of rear traffic.

 

Ride Quality & Handling Smooth & effortless at even high speeds. Good floor clearance.

 

Final Words Excellent car & a driving delight. It is so good that you can do away with your driver. No exertion even after long drives of 7 to 8 hours at a stretch. If you are ready to spend a few bucks for driving comfort it can be a good car for you. I have made this decision to go for a Verna after trying out all other cars like City, Aveo, Fiesta, Jazz, Linea.

 

Areas of improvement Low luminiscence of head lights. Fuel efficiency can be better. Gear shift can be more smooth.

Exterior Very stylish. Difference between Verna and other cars is clearly visible. The design is unique and more stylish when compared to the other cars.

 

Interior (Features, Space & Comfort) Excellent interiors with many added features like sunglass holders, cup holders, child lock etc. Space is comfortable enough in the front and the back.

 

Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox Very powerful and smooth drive guaranteed. Cannot feel the vibration even on high speeds. Gear shifts are smooth, but can be improved. Mileage is excellent. I am getting around 11 within the city with AC and 14 on highways.

 

Ride Quality & Handling Smooth and easy to drive even in traffic.

 

Final Words Sure go.

 

Areas of improvement Head lamps can be better. The light is very dim and should have been a lot more brighter for this class of car. Airbags should be provided for safety.

Interior (Features, Space & Comfort) GOOD FOR A NUCLEAR FAMILY, SUFICIENT STORAGE.

 

Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox EXCELLENT POWER, FUEL ECOOMY IS OK, GEARBOX IS NOT UPTO THE MARK FOR THE POWEER.

 

Ride Quality & Handling EXCELLENT TO DRIVE AND OVERTAKE, HANDLING AT SPEED IS LIKE A CHEESE OVER THE PLATE ( NO AIRBAGS, EPS.. RISKY).

 

Final Words IT WAS A DREAMS COME TRUE, TILL I REACHED 55,000KM IN 2 YEARS 8 MONTHS..  MODERATE ROUGH USE.... FIRST AFTER MY 55,000 SERVICE ( I DO AT EVERY 5000) THE RUMBLING OF THE ENGINE STARTED, MILD RATLING, HAD TO CHANGE THE CLUTH ASSEMBLY... THEY TOLD U ARE LUCKY, AS MANY CARS GOT IT CHANGED BY 50,000... HOW COME, THEN THE TURBO FAILED, GOT IT CHANGED AT WARRENTY ( TAKE THE EXTRA 3RD YEAR,  IT HELPED ME). NOW AT 62,000 ALL IS NOT GOOD, OIL LEEK SINSE 8 MONTHS - SERVICE JUST IDENTIFIED THAT IT WAS FROM THE  OIL FILTER AREA, HAS TO CHANGE THE ENGINE PART - BUT ON WARRENTY ( GOOD ONE FROM HYNDAI - OTHER COMPANY WOULD HAVE TOLD YOU TO SHELL IT OUT)    THE CAR IS NOT THE SAME SINCE 50,000... GOOD ONE TO USE TILL IT STARS TO GIVE PROBLEMS, GOOD VARENTY, EXCELLENT DRIVE AND IS A DREAM DRIVERS CAR AT THIS SEGMENT.

 

THE POWER, THE MUSIC SYSTEM, THE LOOK (FIESTA WAS THE RIVAL)AFTER 55,0000

 

I owned verna 1.6 xi (2007) and done 32,000 km. Car has good comfort and driving pleasure, most of my running is mumbai-goa highway and mumbai-pune highway, I feel safe in this car because of its heavy and rigid body as compare to honda city Gxi (owned by my uncle) which is lighter than verna and this is reason why verna gives less mileage and lack of pickup at initial start, also I found that the headlights and foglights are not up to mark, they have less focus on road. but apart from demerits the car has good A/C cooling, good suspension, good music system, comfortable drive with all feature like power steering, power windows, automatic adjustable mirror ,defogger  what else one can  have in 7.75 lacs when one is updating his car from small segment to sedan.

Before buying verna , I had test drive of Maruti sx4 and Ford fiesta ..regarding Maruti Sx4 i found stiff suspension no smoothness at all and cheap interior.. and regarding ford fiesta  i found congested and noisy engine less driving comforts as in verna so i rejected both and made my decision for verna later on i release it gives less mileage as told by company..

I dont know about latest version of verna if fuel economy is increase and other issues are solved than one can go for it.

 

Comfort, Good looks, Driving pleasure ,Silent cabin, heavy bodypoor mileage,headlights not upto the mark,late pickup at initial start

 

Exterior The exterior is awsome, carries a sporty look, far better from the previous version. the rear side lights though look like the honda city still steals the show. the 16 inch alloy wheels gives it additional appeal.

Interior (Features, Space & Comfort) Neatly placed ,loaded with lot of features like camera, sensors, bluetooth, volume control, cool glove box, foldable outside view mirrors, etc, good seats ,leg room.

Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox Good pick up,value for money since it gives you good mileage (15 km/liter in city ) gerabox is smooth.

Ride Quality & Handling The drive quality is really good, smooth and soft. The suspensions are smooth ,that you dont feel that you are driving on the road. moreover once you accelerate to cross 40 in speed the vehicle gives you a loating experience.

Final Words No words, dont have to look back, go for it.
